This was too earthy for my taste. In addition, the bouquet was off-putting, as though the wine was oxidized, even though we had it within a half an hour of opening it. The mouth-feel was a bit gritty and the fruit muddy. Just not to my taste.

Posted this on another Cab that may be mislabled as familia reserva...my bottle clearly states "Family Reserva"...28$ from Opimian Society in CAN.

Did not like the first try of this medium price average Cab from Chile. This go around is after a touch cooling out of fridge and after sitting in cellar for a few months. Overall, seems a notch better, but nothing more than a solid average, nice lighter style Cab. That fact is refreshing I must say.

Nose is lighter medium level cherry/berry fruit. Palate is a little gritty with tannin, and notable sour cherry tannin. Transitions to dark currants/blackberry and some tobacco/smokey quality. Nice enough.

Wouldn’t buy it again. Not unpleasant just it wasn’t good value. Although to be honest don’t remember how much I paid for it. But it was oven £15 at least 15 years ago.
Deep red colour so looks the part.
Complex and quite heavy on the front of tongue and subsequent a little so on the back but frankly I would be hard pressed to say it has any flour hence like of comment on taste.
I now use it in cooking when no one else here and I will have a glass each time.

Not sure what to make of this at this point. I think needs time to settle and sort itself out...Nose is classic, dark fruit and some light oak. Palate is med/full bodied with similar notes and some tobacco, but there is a slight astringent/bitter quality that coats my palate and lingers...

Not liking this right now, but just got this case from a recent shipment and i won't touch again till next year.

I really liked this, my type of red wine, slightly sweet with subdued tannins and acid. Full bodied fruit and warmth.

Really lovely now. Soft and flowery. Velvety on the tongue. Took a bit to open up, so decant at least 30 min. Likely even better with a bit more time.

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like sweet ripe prune. It tastes with a hints red currants ,forest floor, chocolate, espresso, oak . The body is medium/full. The wine has round texture and intensity. The wine finishes long. The wine has good acidity lingering on for a tasty finish.

The wine had an odour of ripe berries when opened. After decanting, the first taste was very full and balanced acidity and tannins. After half an hour, the taste softened and filled my mouth with a rich berry flavour that carried on through the after taste. This wine was very enjoyable with a grilled steak. This wine is not fully mature, but is ready to drink.

Opened and served immediately in Riedel Vinum Bordeaux glass. Dark ruby color, fading to lighter ruby at the edges. Nose has hints of black pepper, green pepper, red berries and some spice. On the palate, blackberry, black cherry, green pepper and some spicy oak, a touch of barnyard, with bright acidity. Seems pretty old world.

2 hours later, more of a cassis aroma on the nose, with less green pepper and more cedar / tobacco. Black currant on the palate, which has become smoother and rounded out, with broader fruit, but still with a bit of a green / vegetal finish, but it is slight, and not unpleasant. Half bottle saved for tomorrow.
