A brilliant red colour with no sign of bricking at all, looks like a 2-3 year old wine. On the initial taste, I though I had left it too long: thin and watery with a hint of blackberry and a touch of acid. After 20 minutes in the glass, the blackberry was moving to the fore and a good whack of black pepper and body with it. After 45 minutes, the wine exploded into a mouth coating monster of licorice, dark cherries, and meaty characters with a long, silky smooth finish with dusty tannins. Great balance and very more-ish. There is still loads of fruit left in it, but this is moving into the more developed secondary character range. There are years left in this wine, 5 to 10 if I had to guess. Outstanding. |

It was a superb bottle of wine and one of the finest my wife and I have drank in recent memory. The color was still very much deep, dark purple, but fringed with brown on the edges in the glass. The nose, and the sip, were both very soft and full of fruit, but not jammed up. There was a nice note of tobacco and leather to balance out the fruits, which were radically different than the pinot noir we drink so much of - maybe cassis. The tannins had settled out and the acid balance was perfect. What I wouldn't give to have another 6-pack of this wine... |

This wine seems to have closed down a bit compared to a couple of bottles drank a year previously. Tannins quite high compared to what I was expecting, slightly sour after taste, although there is an under current of leather and tobacco. Nose still quite closed. This wine needs some more time before opening out but when it does I think it will be well worth the wait. |

Rich textures - aromas of concentrated fruits and flint and vanilla. Still quite dark colour in the glass - not much thinning out on the rim. Shows that this wine is still some way off its best. Taste is smoky and concentrated - good acidity - the wine is becoming much more balanced than previous tastings. I would recommend waiting another couple of years on this to see how it holds up. Excellent. |
