5/7/2008 - esb wrote: 87 pointsI very much enjoyed the '05 so was looking for an appropriate occasion to try this new release '06. The aroma is not complex but favors black fruits and shows integrated. It is richer and more concentrated than the average barbera with a round middle palate and satisfying finish. It has excellent balance after a little air and medium acidity. Slightly one dimensional fruit but it makes a very good overall impression and is nice at the table. Received favorable comments from family who usually just talk, eat, drink and get on with it. |

4/8/2011 - Paul S wrote: 86 pointsPost DRC-tasting Dinner (Jade Palace, Forum Galleria): Not undrinkable, but mediocre. After a couple of really solid Barberas in the past few months, this was a reminder of how the appellation got saddled with a reputation for poor wines. Sweet, modern, candied on the nose, with maraschino cherry on the forefront and not much more in the background. More cherries on the palate, lots of acidity and a touch of mineral in there, which made it a bit less one-note than the nose, but it was the sweetness of the fruit that stood out. Meh. |

2/19/2007 - hutch wrote: 88 pointsThis wine is ridiculously young. It has a gorgeous purple color to it. And while it is so very pretty, with light almost non existent tannins, along with streams of beautiful fruit, it's going to be better in 6 months, I think. It has that new wine taste and texture, like it's not completely out of the package. This doesn't mean it's not gorgeous, and a ridiculous steal... This could break 90 in half a year. Must retaste then... |

8/8/2012 - Eric Guido Likes this wine: 88 pointsThe nose showed an attractive mix of wild berries, meaty, savory sauce and pepper. On the palate, it was intense with red berries verses soft cleansing acidity that kept this balanced. It was a nice, simple Barbera, not assuming yet very pleasant. |

Fruity, soft, well concentrated but without a very heavy oak. Fresh, shows some of the dark tea notes of Conterno. Works at $18 or so. |
