6/12/2016 - SnowMeadow Likes this wine: 91 pointsNice juice. Has a toasty, lees-y quality that's very appealing. Not much pepper but excellent fruit and generally well balanced. Certainly in a drinking window but can also hold. |

6/26/2016 - RunningMonkey Likes this wine: 90 pointsCandied nose, with some clove notes (minimal pepper). Slight peppery spice on the pallet, fruit driven, dark plums, blackcurrant and blueberries. Ample tannins. Fairly classic C.H. in profile. Extremely drinkable, although not massively complex. Would be curious to try again in 2 years or so. |

9/19/2016 - Grape_ape Likes this wine: 90 pointsvery good, although on the riper side for a northern rhone, could almost pass off as a cool climate CA syrah |

9/20/2016 - Raage Does not like this wine: 88 pointsUn crozes toujours un peu boisé jeune, et qui se durcit avec l'âge, car même si le nez embaume la syrah solaire, la bouche présente comme sur les 2009 une certaine austérité, avec une finale dure manquant de finesse. |

10/21/2016 - studleytrey Likes this wine: 90 pointsNice balance between crowd-pleasing (dark and dark red) fruit and interesting elements of meat and minerals. Drank at a BYOB restaurant with another couple and was a definite step up from their modest contribution. |

7/31/2017 - SnowMeadow wrote: 89 pointsPleasant, if not memorable. Lacking in the characteristic Northern Rhone 'savory-ness', but does have nice berry fruit and some complexity. Enjoyable food wine and also nice on its own. I didn't get as much toastiness as I'd gotten from a bottle 12 mo ago. |

3/19/2019 - dwhit wrote: NR3-19-19 Weird; it took 15 minutes and a glass of wine to figure out I don't like this. There is a fresh, light berry taste floating on top of, but seemingly disconnected from, a much more substantial 'meaty' (?) not smokey, under layer. The two just do not come together into a coherent whole, with air, food, whatever. There is not distinct flaw in the wine, and either element considered alone speaks to a well made, even elegant wine. But we stopped drinking this, and opened another bottle, instead. |

4/21/2019 - zinfandel601 Likes this wine: 88 pointsDark, opaque purple-garnet color. Big, thick, black fruit aromas. Full bodied, moderate tannins, medium acid. Black fruit flavors, but not really viscous/heavy ... a lightness to it; big meaty/charcuterie, subtle herbal undertones. Had with Easter lamb chop dinner. Seemed a little too heavy for the garlic/olive oil/oregano preparation. |

4/13/2020 - pinoteer Likes this wine: 90 pointsThe low-alcohol aspect of this wine is greatly appreciated (13%). It's amazing how soft, inviting, and delicious a wine can be when the alcohol levels don't overwhelm everything else. Plum, black and red raspberries, black pepper, dirt, and meatiness come together nicely. So well mannered and well balanced. |

1/2/2021 - pinoteer Likes this wine: 90 pointsProviding this note a few day after initially opening this bottle and drinking a glass. This one needed a day in the frig after opening. Otherwise, an overwhelming animal funk/ Brett aspect persisted the first night (even after several decanter hours). Now, it's much more like the first bottle that we drank earlier this year. A good mix of fruit and other Syrah-typical flavors (olives, black pepper, meatiness). |

3/28/2021 - pinoteer Likes this wine: 91 pointsBest, and last, bottle. Vinturi'd into a glass and it was ready to go. Still, it improved with more time in the glass. Black berries, plums, olives, black pepper, bacon...this is just classic Syrah. Medium- tannins and medium- acidity. Nice finish. Prime drinking and can only go downhill from here. This bottle is just outstanding tonight. I could become a Northern Rhone fan based on this bottle alone. |

3/31/2024 - lake.vino Likes this wine: 92 pointsThis is a strong example of Crozes at its best. And for me, it is pretty close to peak drinking. Nose blackberry, olives, a bit of animale, a bit of lavender floral notes, heavy black pepper. Palate incredibly balanced - still showing fruit, but lots of secondary development of cacao, pepper, herbal and olive notes. Plenty of acid, plenty of fruit, great mineral, tannins largely resolved and integrated, though still very present. Hits way above appelation and price point. Paired wonderfully with gigot de sept heures for the holiday. |

11/7/2015 - palebluedot1984 Likes this wine: NRA nice wine. Meat and pepper on the nose. Some blue and dark berries show up on the palate but the meatyness dominated. Integrated tannins and good acidity. The wine worked well with a venison steak. |
