4/4/2014 - BRR Likes this wine: 87 pointsNever had a Blauer Zweigelt, and was pleasantly surprised. Straight-forward and pleasing, much like a lighter-bodied Zin. Brairy and slightly peppery aromas and flavors of raspberry, red licorice and pie cherry. Nothing "cheap" or artificial tasting at all, and a good food wine. Thanks, Klaus! |

11/4/2013 - BRR wrote: 86 pointsImproved with air. Started out quite rough, with drying tannins and little fruit. As it sat in the decanter, it gained depth and some nice plum fruit with a bit of baking spice emerged. Still, a good not great wine that I don't think will improve from here. |

9/10/2023 - BRR Likes this wine: NRNot decanted. Cork was 2/3 saturated. I had limited expectations based on its age and my lack of tasting Two Mountains wines with 15 years, as well as Sean Sullivan's mediocre review back in the day, but this was great. What it lacked in complexity, it made up for with surprisingly vibrant cherry fruit and a very strong green tobacco note, which I liked. This didn't fade one bit over the 3+ hours we enjoyed it. This was a great showing and I was impressed. Drink now. |

10/25/2021 - BRR wrote: 87 pointsThis wine is past peak by a bit. In Tanzer's original TN, he wrote, "....sweet, fat, and rich..." and I can certainly see that here. Surprising fruit for a 17-year-old Cab Franc from Washington, but the vineyard pedigree here shows through. However, at this age and wearing its 14.8% alcohol, it was showing just a touch medicinal and overripe / pruned. I bet this was great seven - 10 years ago and, while we still enjoyed it for what it was, its best years were in the past. Drink up! |

12/17/2012 - BRR wrote: 87 pointsFrom the few Pride Cab Francs I've had ('01, '02, '05), I think they're better young. Not decanted. Almost too sweet at the outset, but that died down a little. Every so often, i still thought there was some residual sugar down there. Not very telltale Cab Franc, but nice berry compote notes and a slate-like streak. Slightly drying tannins. |

2/22/2018 - BRR Likes this wine: 90 pointsThis is very good Cab Franc. Made in a fairly restrained style that lets the more herbal and wild notes in the variety come out and play nicely with the red cherry and dark raspberry fruit. Good now, will continue to be good for 3-5 more years. |

7/14/2021 - BRR wrote: NRI'm going to withhold a rating on this because I don't have a viable comparison. I bought three Cabs from Ser with zero experienced with their wines, but based on some enthusiasm of a member on WB. While I'm sure he/she loves the wines, I didn't like this particular one. This is a Burgundy lover's Cab I suppose and, while I'm no Cali Cult or Aussie Bomb savant, this was too austere and light-bodied for me to really enjoy as a Cab Sauv. I'll age the other a bit, as the best glass was truly on day four in a re-capped bottle. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

11/21/2016 - BRR Likes this wine: 90 pointsAt least with this bottle, the fruit is starting to fade. The boisterous fruit and personality is, for me, what made this wine so enjoyable earlier in its life, so I'd say drink up over the next 1-2 years if you have any left. This was, however, better on day 2. |

3/23/2015 - BRR Likes this wine: 93 pointsThis was a reminder of how fun it can be to enjoy well-made Napa Cabernet. Rich aromas and flavors of blackberry jam, currant and charcoal were supremely enjoyable. It's all about fruit, and the alcohol does peek through on the nose some of the time. However, it's well-structured and the tannins and ample fruit could still use a year or three to soften just a bit more. |

2/4/2022 - BRR Likes this wine: NRThis wine is entering its prime drinking window. Still lots of up-front fruit and it's actually still youthful for being 13+ years old. Dark fruits and a very long finish. Not much tannic presence, but still structured enough to make me think this will continue to hold for quite some time. |

5/26/2020 - BRR Likes this wine: 92 pointsDecanted one hour, and then consumed in Gabriel Glas Gold stems. This is smack in prime drinking window. Sweet currant and cherry aromas waft up out of the glass. The palate is plush but not overdone or overripe, with cassis and blackberry fruit with a bit of underlying spice. Drink now and enjoy its exuberance. |

11/18/2013 - BRR Does not like this wine: 80 pointsEither corked or just going downhill, and I suspect the latter. Drying fruit, more on the red profile, with gritty, slightly green tannins. Drink up. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

9/25/2013 - BRR Likes this wine: 91 pointsOne of the better Yakima Valley Cabs from this producer in a few years. Deep and perfectly balanced with piercing aromas of smoky black currant and mineral. A slight and very appealing streak of herb under all that great fruit on the palate. Good finish. In a great spot now and could hold for another couple of years. |

12/4/2017 - BRR Likes this wine: 94 pointsThis wine reminded me why I love Pride's Cabs so much. There's something in the way they let that mountain fruit shine that I don't get anywhere else. This isn't going to fool anyone for a Bordeaux, but it's a decidedly delicious, sumptuous bottle of wine. Cassis, blackberry and currant notes with perfect structure. Drinking well now, but will likely go at least 5+ more without decline. |

3/4/2019 - BRR wrote: NRThis is a crowd-pleasing, ripe, mouthful of great Cabernet fruit. Gobs of dark berries and chocolate. No heat whatsoever, which is surprising given the high alc. I wouldn't bother ageing this longer...it's great now for what it is. |

6/26/2018 - BRR Likes this wine: 94 pointsTasted blind alongside a 2007 Betz Pere de Famille. Darker ruby/purple compared on the other wine. Purer fruit aromas and less/no "funk" or gaminess that I detected in the other nose. On the palate, very elegant and poised black and red berry fruit, and a touch of mineral. This is classy stuff and, next to the other, this seems weightless and refined. |

3/31/2014 - BRR wrote: NRI think this wine might be in a dumb phase but, at the very least, it needs a really long decant (6+ hours). Muted nose with hints of deep berry and currant coming through a bit. Even more closed on the palate with similar notes, and a graphite streak. This wasn't flawed, I don't think, but was very unyielding. Too young. NR 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

9/20/2021 - BRR Likes this wine: 92 pointsDecanted for about an hour. This threw lots of sediment. Dark ruby purple. Nose contained plum skin, blackberry, violets. The palate had similar dark fruit flavors and a nice tannic presence, but this has started to open up and is entering its early drinking window. This is a somewhat more restrained style of Napa Cabernet and will likely appeal to both sides of the Napa Cab camp. Drink now or hold. |

7/18/2017 - BRR Likes this wine: 91 pointsNot decanted, saved a couple of glasses for tonight. On night one, this had somewhat restrained aromatics of currant and blackberry, light spice. The tannins were grainy and the wine didn't ever really unwind. I think this will gain more depth with 2-3 years in bottle. |

10/23/2022 - BRR Likes this wine: 91 pointsI agree with Galloni's TN in that this doesn't require any more cellaring (he said as much on release), which is surprising for a 2013 Napa Cab. Tons of fruit, but not enough structure to want me to age it any longer. In my opinion, drink these soon(ish). They give a lot of pleasure in fruit department. |
