Has seen better days, needed 45 mins or so to enter a drinkable state. Following that, it was fine, but all tertiary notes, and definitely on the backside.

A well made Barolo which is lighter than I had expected but filled with tannin which seriously curdled my tongue.

Nose- Red fruits, tar, roses & truffles.
This was open from Tuesday get go & palate echoed the aromas & scents on the nose with medium grained tannins. As the evening went on it got more tannic, pithy, chalky, rustic & dense. I'm guessing this has more agebility to it.

Murky cochineal red in color with a pronounced watery meniscus. A very shy and restrained bouquet but the little that was revealed includes matured red fruits, herbs and dried flowers, old chest of drawers, worn leather and lots of muddy earth and watery minerals. The palate is medium-bodied at best, very soft with good intensity that persisted throughout the various stages of the tasting experience, very bold, well-structured, and intense. It is relatively well-balance with a dynamic tension and interplay between the fruits, acidity and lively tannins which seems to intensify after 45 minutes of exposure to air, however, the alcoholic component seems to stick protrude just a bit too much especially as the temperature of the wine increases (but the again, 15% ABV is not so easy to hide). The flavor components include dark red cherries, ripe strawberries and other dark red and purple fruits, old worn leather, old wood, hint of gamey meat, dried flowers, and a very delicate yet highly notable impressions of wet rocks, gravel and mineral-inflected alluvial soil towards a refreshingly clean and tannic yet slightly savory finish, A very interesting wine with a very controlled yet deep personality. Drinking at its prime now at 16 years old but should continue to do so for at least 4 - 6 years or so. Paired nicely with aged Pecorino Sordo and warm crusty bread. Day 2: Tasted much more integrated while the alcoholic components have subsided substantially, with tertiary characters such as hints of mild coriander and dried rose petals was discernible tonight, how cool is that?! It’s very interesting that the initial murkiness upon gave way to a clear wine with virtually no tannic sedimentation whatsoever either in the form of particulate suspensions or on the bottom of the bottle. 92 - 94

Needs a little patience and at least 30 minutes of air; then it releases old-world character in abundance: earth, leather, black cherries, dark spices, old cedar, and scents of Uncle Guido's root cellar. Beautiful!!!

Delicious. Sad to see it go but didn't want to wait too long. Still had fresh tasting fruit with some nice balanced tannin.

Red fruit, slightly sour, elegant and minerally, with a silky texture and sufficient remaining structure. Has some complexity, but not a lot of depth. Mature, but should hold up a while longer.

Delicate savoury nose of herbal and black berry fruit. It had 3 hrs in a decanter before we tried it. The palate showed many layers of fruit and oak integration. The wine was overly grippy still with a heavy tantric structure that was quite dominating. Given the vintage I expected this wine to be just opening up and to be looking fantastic which is what it looked like 5 or 6 years ago. I’m not sure what to expect next or to drink them all now.

Good wine, young and on the ripe side, still quite a bit of oak and the fruit felt a bit pushed to the dark side. A good wine but not special

The cork was perfect, but the wine was all soy and brown sugar. Way past its prime.

Rust colored. An intriguing blend of tar, cigarbox, liquorice and Asian spices. Drinks well now but I’m sure it could last. Worth buying a case

PnP. Ruby with an orange glow (not yet as red brick as I expected; looks younger). Camphor, cherry, blackberrry, moss, wet wood, forest soil. On the mouth is already round and integratet, but still tannic, and very persistent. Very good and pleasant wine

very floral and concentrated wild herbs on the nose, lots of violets seems powerful, on the palate, I found dark sour cherries with tar and clay overall this is very powerful with heaps of structure and acids, this is in need of time in the cellar. Aged in small French barrels. 92+

NobleRottersSydney - Less popular varieties (360 Bar & Dining, Sydney): {cork, 14%} (Graeme) Double-decanted a few hours earlier. Developing aromas of violets. Tobacco. Even a touch medicinal. Clearly evolving, but seems like it has a way to go. The palate is medium/full-bodied, with violets, roses, smoky herbs. Quite a bit of nuanced complexity here beside some of the other wines (but there should be, given the price). Medium dusty tannins, medium/high acidity, and a long even palate are the hallmarks of this. This is barely middle-aged really and should be better in five years. Enjoyable now though, without a sense of waste.

This was from the Briccolina vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba. Masnaghetti's book states that this vineyard is famed for one parcel known as Corda, which has a favourable altitude and exposure (south to southwest. Adjacent to Ornato, Batasiolo's holdings appear to be 3/4 of the way down the slope.

Provenance unknown. On opening, smells a little ruddy and old, however a couple of hours later this blows away to reveal ripe raspberries and plum. Lively on the palate, the tannins on the palate are now medium bodied but provide nice balance, fine acidity on entrance, raspberry and tar flavours.

Make sure to give this a few hours in the decanter before drinking. Exceeded expectations.

TREBICCHIERI PRE-TASTING, nose of tar, mums, leather, and black cherry fruit, same on the palate, very tasty, big body, needs 3 years to peak and last another 20 years, long, flavorful finish.

Ok this is a 30 year old Barolo that you will never find anywhere again. Absolutely perfectly aged Nebbiolo that improved with decant and time to breathe. Old leather with dark plum and just enough floral aroma to make it interesting. I drank 3 bottles w my Team and everyone enjoyed the experience. Perfect!
