The underlying material seems pretty good. It has strong, dark fruits and a meaty mid-palate. But they've pushed the extraction and the oak treatment too far. Why is it so hard to find a nice, solid Aglianico?

Didn't give this enough air. It seemed reduced and a little muddy. Although it opened a bit after forty minutes or so in the decanter, it never really came around. We finished before it really had a chance.

I've had a few bottles of this, and I remain on the fence. It's got nice, pure red fruit with some iron and spice, but it's a little simple and doesn't have as much personality as their Fallanghina, which I think is super. Perhaps the tannins are getting in the way? I tried decanting. It helped a little. Perhaps it just needs some time?

Shows beautifully, especially the aromatics, but needs plenty of air. Was better on day three than day one.

Fully ripe, dark to the rim, this operated more on the meaty end of the spectrum, rather than the floral, rose-petal delicacy I tend to prefer. It was a lovely example of the type, however, full-bodied, deep, with plenty of character, and no wood to distract. I think a few years in the batcave will serve this well; I can see it picking up a smoky complexity with age.

Not quite past my threshold on the modern side, but further along than I would prefer, this nevertheless has good material.

Decanted for an hour or two, this was mostly non-descript. The wood has integrated, but the color is still dark. Nothing too off-putting, and, at the end, it picked up some nice aromatics. Still not worth the storage.

Kim liked it more than I did. Slow ox'ed for a few hours and then decanted, the material is good. too dark and woody still, but it does have pretty good aromatics.

Best showing of this wine since release. There is some bottle sweetness and a little RS. Yes, there are some nutty overtones, but they remain in the background. This is much fresher than most bottles this old and has added some layers that weren't there to begin with.

Day three or so open -- I forge and don't trust the dates of my own notes, but I put it in a 375 right away and filled it carefully with no headspace -- there's not a whole lot left. I need to start moving through these more quickly. It's in a great place, but I don't know how long they'll stay there.

Another great showing. This is the best version I recall -- though, the year before did not stink -- and it's in a great place right now, starting to show a deeper color and some bottle sweetness but holding onto its initial minerality

Nice and full. This showed quite rich (and open, with yellow fruits and floral notes), but with plenty of acidity to keep everything where it belongs. A keeper.
