Definitely a bit funky on the nose and palate right after popping. Nice acidity. A bit green for my taste, but notes of honey made it interesting.

2017 AniChe Cellars Albariño Come & Go

Yakima Valley more

10/20/2018 - Lampornis Likes this wine: NR

From the winery:

Come & Go is one of our only 100% varietal wine. This mineraly and dry Albariño comes from Dutchman Vineyards in Grandview, WA. Come & Go has tropical notes, with a hint of peach, and finishes with mojito freshness.

Pairs best with Oysters, Shellfish, Spicy Curries and Fish Tacos!

Yakima Valley more

Fine, but nothing too special. Quite citrusy on the nose. On the palate, light-to-midweight (not a richer version of Albarino) with tons of acidity. A bit out of balance for the varietal, toward the acidic side, IMO.

2017 AniChe Cellars Tzippy

Washington White Blend more

1/24/2020 - Dulcie and Aylwin wrote: NR

Just so happened that Dulcie had conjured up some little Asian number with all those spicy/sweet notes for which the Tzippy is well matched. I think I have said before that another producer near Hood River has a better alternative to this but I find it works quite well when coupled appropriately with food.

A riesling/gewuzt combo should be a pretty racy number and this is. Like the very different Lizzy, a very pale greenish yellow, aromatic nose with just a hint of hydrocarbon; on the palate the tartness evident though not as spicy and lush as you might expect from the gewurzt grape; notable residual sweetness; pretty but a little understated. I definitely prefer the Albacor from their near neighbor COR Cellars, albeit with pinot gris in place of the riesling.

Very tight and dry at opening, but over the course of dinner it really shined. The Nebbiolo was crisp and fruity, red cherry, strawberry and floral overtones; the Zinfandel gave it depth and body.

Seriously good wine. Piedmont-esque, but with New World robustness... and without the tannins and aging requirements for Piedmont wines of similar price ranges. Cherry and raspberry on the fruit side, tons of leather character. Balance of body and acidity, great with food.

2016 AniChe Cellars Sirius

Horse Heaven Hills Red Blend more

10/31/2020 - Lampornis wrote: NR

From the winery:

Sirius is a blend of 52% Dolcetto, 30% Barbera and 18% Zinfandel from the Horse Heaven Hills AVA. Aromas of dried oregano, tomato, black olive and porchetta. Medium bodied, medium tannin. This is our pizza wine! With a lot of ripe cooked fruit and a crisp finish this wine is excellently to paired with spicy and bold dishes.

Light Rhone-ish style, very dry, slightly nutty, mineral. A better food wine provided the latter is not overpowering or spicy. I think there are better options on the market in the similar style category; the Z-Blanc from Zaca Mesa comes immediately to mind.

Columbia Valley White Blend more

10/8/2019 - Dulcie and Aylwin wrote: NR

In search of something like a house white, I thought I would try some from the excellent Aniche Cellars in the Columbia Gorge. This is a Rhone-ish blend. The color was surprisingly pale, almost to the point of colorless. Very dry, slightly nutty - Dulcie said almonds and made a face. Not for her I guess. I liked the texture and the earthy, nutty quality; maybe the flavor a little thin.
