Sure enough, very distinctive flinty aromas different from any other wine in the range. Light to medium weight. Off dry. A bit of exotic pineapple. Very good acidity and properly tart. Long, stony finish. I loved this unique wine and wish I had access to it. |

Medium bodid, with good depth but also medium-high acidity adding excellent freshness. Very good length. A really beautiful wine that combines the ripeness of the vintage with very good finesse. Still super young of course but surprisingly open and accessible. |

10/28/2023 - Michael Mackenzie Likes this wine: 90 pointsDie VDP.GROSSE LAGE® RAUSCH liegt im zentralen Hang – etwa an der Stelle mit dem historischen Namen „Franzens Knüppchen“ – unterhalb des bewaldeten Kegels der Einzellage Rausch und überschaut das Städtchen Saarburg in Richtung Saar. Sie ist nach Südost und Süden orientiert und dreht sich leicht in ein Seitental der Saar hinein. Die Weinberge haben eine Steigung von 35 bis 75 Prozent und ziehen sich über 160 bis 295 Meter Seehöhe. Die GL RAUSCH ist windgeschützt und liegt den ganzen Tag in der Sonne. Der Untergrund ist steinig und wird von Grauwacke und weichem, dünnblättrigem Devonschiefer und rötlicher Feinerde bestimmt – auf Grund eines Durchbruchs vulkanischer Schichten findet sich auch Basalt (Diabas). Geschichte: Der Name leitet sich von der alten Dialektbezeichnung „Steinrausch“ oder „Rusche“ für Geröll ab. |
