Popped and poured right out of 55 degree cellar. Dried cherry and strawberry, crushed rocks. Refreshing acidity and a lighter body than other Sta Rita reds. Might let this sit before I try the next bottle. The minerality really stands out, makes it a pretty refreshing summer wine when served <60F.

Clear, light-ruby color. Aromas of baked fig & cranberry, mulled spices, mushroom & earth, cedar, and rose hips. Nice open red fruit on the palate, with densely layered spices, mineral and earth along the mid-palate. Medium-plus acid, silky-fine tannin, lingering finish- juicy and dry. Excellent.

Every so often you find a pinot that just hits the spot....admittedly a little young but today this worked; smooth acidity, barnyard nose, bitter cherry....
Double decanted
Lovely

Nick Deluca winemaker chose best wines from cellar and selected the best ones by vintage. Nose a little closed up, very floral and delicate nose. Light red fruit. Round palate, good acid on mid palate, the wine lingers around in a consistent and delicate manner. I feel maybe the best of the bunch.

Deep reddish purple. Fairly tame nose of red fruits (cherry, strawberry) with a healthy dose of spice and oak. In the mouth the flavors are an accurate reflection of the aromas with ripe red fruits, and a slightly heavy spice note. Medium body and medium finish.

Light color. Somewhat restrained nose that comes out with air. Rather delicate flavors for a southcentral coast Chardonnay but very nice with a citrusy finish. I like this style as it seems more French than Californian due to its relatively high acidity. Quite a lovely contrast to the overoaked, highly alcoholic and slightly sweet behemoths that seem to dominate the high-priced Chardonnay market today.

Light to medium ruby in color, thick slow legs,

Cherry, plum, vanilla, dusty earth, forest floor,

Cherry, plum, baking spice, nice earthy notes

Good acidity, low to medium tannins, alcohol is just a touch warm on the finish. That being said, I did not give this any breathing time, so 30~ minutes of air would probably have helped with the alcohol.

Not a bad example of Santa Rta Hills and SB county PN. Slightly heavier and spicier than others I've had, but a decent qpr, I think I paid about $17 on a last bottle mixed case.

Clear salmon color. Broad primary aromas of red apple skin, lime zest, cherry, with accents of slate and white pepper. Bright full acidity on the palate, with supple texture, leading with red fruit and citrus and finishing saline mineral notes and spice. Nicely done.

Alma Rosa Tasting: Deep ruby. Bright cherries and strawberries on the nose, with rhubarb, rose petals and more spice and cedar than the basic Sta. Rita Hills bottling. Smooth but chewy texture, this stays vibrant with fresh acidity and velvety tannins. Black cherry mixes with the tart red fruit, which is doused in coffee, cedar, cola and coffee. Warm but tart finish.

Immediately upon opening this was nothing short of fermented Kool-Aid - absolutely horrible! Poised to empty down the sink, I allowed it to sit and get it's bearing and steeled myself for a second taste (yes - the first was THAT bad!). Became drinkable with some air, not to mention some cheese and almonds, showing a bit of cherry cola and red fruit, but not *nice*.

First things first, the nose on this wine is great; bright fruit cocktail and honeysuckle. On the palate, impressive acidity and a relatively full mouthfeel. The wine is a little reductive upon opening but it quickly comes around. Spicy with flavors of vanilla, yellow and green apple, canned pineapple, and citrus fruits. The finish is average in length.

Well-made and well put together wine, but just a little lacking in pizzazz for me. A good Last Bottle value.
