6/12/2017 - rossi.wine wrote: 96 pointsSlightly evolved around the rim, a little cloudy. Soft berry fruit, spices, wood smoke, undergrowth on the nose - so perfumed and just wonderful. On the palate again rather soft with a lovely richness and generousity of fruit. Amazingly well balanced, good acidity, lovely mineral backbone. Very long. Drink or keep. A truly special wine and a great privilege to have tasted it. 95-97 |

It has the leroy perfume but the fruit is drying up with a bitter aftertaste. Over the peak. For people who are chasing this wine at >800usd now in auction, it is absurd and unwise. 3 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (3) |

Palate is very spice driven with great black and red fruit. Incredible density, powerful fruit with an exceptional finish. Always a personal favorite, this 2009 jumps near the top of my list of great vintages of Leroy V-R Beaux Monts, with 98, 99 and 93. 3 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

Wow, really stunning baking spice, summer flowers with pronounced red and black cherries. Fresh and precocious fruit to start, meaty and dense middle, then amazingly powerful on the finish. Great now and i can see this getting better and better for at least another decade. Perhaps the best Latricieres-Chambertin I can ever recall tasting. |

5/9/2016 - Paul S wrote: 94 pointsVosne 1er Cru Dinner (Nikki's): A real joy to drink - this was a brilliant Beaux Monts chez Leroy. It had a beautiful nose, classic Leroy, with rich wafts of berries and plums laced with complex full-culster nuances of herbs, stems and spices. The palate was lovely too - rich, pure and powerful, with sweet cherries and blueberries and orange peel flavours filling the mouth along with more herb and spice notes, all this held in the grip of fresh, lively acidity and the fine, sweet tannins. It was really that blend of sweet, voluptuous richness in the fruit with transperant purity that made this wine special. Great finish too - full, fruity and pure, and chocked full of flavour in the back-palate. A beautiful wine that is giving plenty of pleasure now, but still with the chops to age marvellously over the next decade and beyond. Bravo. |

7/24/2020 - Burgnick Likes this wine: 92 pointsBottle 359/2914. Missing the signature leroy aromatics yet it still showed dates, smoke, wild berries and dried flowers. Slightly coiled initially but it blossomed into sweet dark and red fruit. Good on its own but underwhelming for a Leroy, which is not surprising for her 95s. 91-92 |

Wonderful rich soft pure red fruits with earthy appeal & surrounded by kaleidoscope of spices. Great finish. A seemless wine of real breed. Popped and poured, this is drinking well. |

8/6/2019 - Xavier94 Likes this wine: 95 pointsNot quite an iron fist in a velvet glove but pretty darn close; lots of beautiful, layered aromas of minty herbs, soy sauce, fungal inflections, cinnamon fire-ball with violet, blood/iodine type minerality, lots of gamey impressions that are tender, elegant and much more classic than many '99s appear to be at this stage. Beautiful showing, with lots of supple, fat flavors that show no sense of heaviness. Long, rich with everything in the right place even today. Needs another 5+ years to check into again but really more like 10 to show more maturity. |

Sweet and immense on the palate with very long finish. Some tasted oak, but not obvious for me. Clearly faded in strength relative to Leroy grand crus, as pedigree showed over 3 hours. |

5/20/2015 - Paul S wrote: 97 points2001 Vosne-Romanée Grand Cru Dinner (Imperial Treasure Teochew, Takashimaya): It is hard to choose between the three truly special bottles of Richebourg in this flight, but if I were pushed, I would probably say the Leroy by a whisker. This was a monumental bottle, representing everything that is best in Madame’s wines. It had a captivating nose that wafted out of the glass in layer after layer of of ripe black cherries and sweeter red berries, herbs and spice, and deep draws of earth. Woah. Like the nose, the palate was deep, rich and thick, yet somehow also absolutely effortless, pure and transparent. The Richebourg muscle was clearly there, but it was so elegant and gentle in the way in inexorable filled the palate with deep flavours of dark cherries and berries, earth and mineral, and wafts of fragrant spice. This was a wine of stunning purity and finesse; hedonistic yet perfectly controlled, with an almost obsessive compulsive sense of perfection and balance – truly special. While drinking well now, I am quite sure this will last until just about forever. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

3/21/2020 - drwine2001 wrote: NRUncorked 3 hours before drinking. Light ruby, maturing rim. Blackberry confiture, a bit of game, and somewhat harsh stems dominate right off the bat, but by time we sat down to enjoy this with the meal, the green had become more high toned, perfumed and less severe, and the blackberry was joined by scents of fresh baked blueberries. Picture perfect medium weight with sap and soil around the edges, and lively acidity rather than tannin providing the drive forward. Everything one could want in a top top Vosne Premier Cru, and just a fantastic bottle all around. It should stay this way for at least another decade. A life affirming wine on a night when we decided that we needed to drink something great, and so gratifying to have held this since release. |

Very powerful, fullish palate with highly concentrated sweet cherry fruits and rounded Vosne spiciness, mushroom, dried tea leaves that showing off the remarkable depth and complexity. When you thought the long finish is about to let go, there is this second wave of attack present which continue the adventure with ripe, medium level of tannin accompany by firm, solid acid spine that perfectly balance with layer and layer of dried herb, spices, sweet dark fruits all wrapped in a very elegance, polish, harmonious package that flow into the superb long finish that last more than a min. Brilliant. This still have very long life to go! Buy - A must have! 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (6) |

4/24/2021 - The Vines That Bind wrote: 98 pointsThis is probably my favourite wine of the night out of some outrageous ‘99s including Leroy Chambertin. I am starting to get a better handle on RSV’s racy, flashy, floral, and highly showy character and I think this bottle demonstrates how well this vineyard works with Leroy’s lush and opulent style. This wine is in your face but is elegant, super floral and perfumed, and extremely beautiful all around. Palate is lush and intense but never overwhelming. This renders a ’99 DRC RSV alongside quiet (contextually). A perfect matchup between producer and site here, and the vintage is working out ideally as well. Harmonized. Terrific and really renewing my excitement for Leroy. [1222/2937] |

Some stemminess, but it takes a back seat to the fruit. Medium bodied, quite sappy. Incredibly vigorous red and black fruit, spice, excellent acidity, moderate ripe tannins, and late appearing soil. This steadily improved over the course of the evening, showing more perfume and complexity on the palate. It sounds ridiculous, but probably best to give it another 10 years! |
