Drinking at peak, this superb, supple-textured, luscious, rich wine is packed with ripe, peppery black cherries and herbs. There is length, freshness, concentration and richness in the peppery tinged finish. Popped and poured, there is no reason not to be drinking this today.

Southern Rhône trip with Rainer. Tasted at the Domaine, with knowledgeable Véronique. From a newly opened bottle. Medium to dark ruby. Lovely nose. Mixed berries, herbal notes, spices and liquorice, with good acidity, plenty of fine, well-integrated tannin and superb length. Elegant and long. Very precise winemaking. Dense and tight. Great stuff! The notable tannin is very dry at this stage and the wine will need a lot of time. For the cellar. Very promising!

Great Véronique gifted us the bottle (and the bottle of 2015 Mourre des Perdrix). We retried the wines over dinner picnic that evening and our initial impressions were confirmed. That said, at the tasting I preferred the Brusquières, but at the retastings in the evening I had a slight preference for the Mourre des Perdrix.

This is a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah. Surprisingly light red. The nose declares emphatically this is a Grenache driven wine. There are some lovely red fruit and floral notes, verging towards red lollies but not in a bad way. There is a touch of darker fruit underneath as well. The palate opens with sweet red fruit but closes with good length and structured, grippy tannins. Astonishingly this clocks in at 16pc abv, which will make this just about the first time I have ever had a table wine that high in alcohol where it didn’t feature in my note. Very good wine. Very drinkable now (with a good airing) to let the bright Grenache characters shine, but the purity and the structure give me confidence this will evolve nicely for at least ten to fifteen years.

Tasted over 3 hrs
-opaque dark red purple, mild clearing at edge
-low key dark fruit plum
-med/med- acidity, big thick dense faded kirsch plum wraps around a moderate amount of heat without any overt mature elements, med- tannins
-this still has some potential to develop more nuance and maturity

There was a heavy dose of alcohol on the nose at first, but with air it does pull back to an extent. Thpigh the alcohol note is there, thankfully there is a lot more with black cherries, black raspberries, licorice, kirsch notes, black fruits, crushed rocks, Asian spices, hoisin, violets, and garrigue. While the black fruits really shine through, the more herbal and Provençal qualities are very much there. The Full bodied feel is youthful and a bit boozy with medium acidity and sneaky, medium+ tannins. The structure does deceive a bit as it is clearly there. But, this also feels like a Chateauneuf du Pape that will be on the earlier drinking side.

I've never seen such consensus. Everyone, including Spectator, rates it 93. Okay, me too. Super wine for the money. Excellent depth and complexity. Very enjoyable now, but it'll be even better in 8 years if you like your CdP with secondary development. Winner.

I think the jury is still out for me when it comes to the drinking window for really good CDP-in my experience there are very few that improve after 10-12 years. Having said that, I really think this CDP has several years to go, and I'll hold the remaining bottles in my cellar for 2020+. A fabulous wine-lots of plummy fruit up front, but super balance and elegance; soft tannins, structured and a long, long finish.

Agree with last note. Fantastic. Aggressive decant 3-4 hrs, still took an hour in the glass. Muted nose initially, til palate comes around. Velvety red and black fruits, seamless tannins, powerful mid palate and 30-45 sec finish. Wine became so much better with air, balanced, well made, voluptuous. So happy yet sad to have one more.

Well balanced, no heat here; creamy texture, round, spicy, rich, very young showing, local and very tru to place. Drinking window has opened, but no hurry whatsoever.

Tasted immediately after opening, then decanted for 2 hours prior to consumption. The wine is very closed- the decant helped a little. Grenache dominates the blend, but presumed Syrah lends backbone. Drinks well now, but my guess there's a lot of complexity hiding. This is one to age for at least 5 years.

2015 Domaine de la Charbonnière Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Spéciale Les Hautes Brusquières showed textbook typicity of Châteauneuf-du-Pape with jammy red fruits, garrigue, power and concentration. The youthful Châteauneuf-du-Pape was clear and medium ruby in colour without any sediments. Syrah aromatics of raw beef and violets were accompanied with Grenache notes of ripe red cherries, strawberry jam, Provençal herbs and lavender. On the palate, it was dry, spicy, lush and full-bodied, with medium levels of acidity and chalky tannin. Intense flavours of liqourice, mint, garrigue herbs and smoke kept it from being overtly jammy. The long finish was packed with intense stony minerality and black tea. The blend composed of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, It was a candidate for controversial wine, as proponents would admire its power and concentration, while opponents would complain its over-ripeness and elevated alcohol at 15.5%.

Deep ruby. Dark red fruit and lavender scents. Medium weight (positively weightless by today's standards), fine acidity, quite tannic and tarry in a Nebbiolo way. Lovely red and black fruit that is ripe, spicy, and still savory. Some complicating licorice. I loved this bottle for its old fashioned complexity and chewiness without overt alcohol or overripeness. This should hold well for another 5+ years-terrific!

Wow, this is delicious. Liquid red and black raspberry, with a light dusting of herbs. Framboise comes to mind. Soft tannin. Sexy, but not in the way the term is applied to big, voluptuous wines; sexy as in smooth and silky, like Billy Dee Williams playing Barry White. With air, broadens out on the palate, and the tannins get firmer. Terrific, honest CdP with no gobs.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape session (Extra Space): Tasted blind. Aired in decanter. Drank over 2 hours.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of smoke, integrated oak, spice, black cherry. Developed.
On the palate, dry, medium acidity, high alcohol (15.5%), high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of chocolate, coffee, smoke, toast, black cherry, blackberry, slight raspberry underlying, some savoury soy sauce note. Long finish.
Good quality CDP. This is clearly made in an oaky big modern style. Dark character. Drink up over the next 1-2 years. I don't think the fruit will hold up here, despite the old vines.
From parcel in La Crau. Grenache vines more than 80 years old, close to 90 years. Blend of 90-95% Grenache, 5-10% Mourvedre.

Dark red color and very fragrant. On the palate, ripe red and dark fruits, still quite fresh, some nice earthiness, silky texture and pleasant acidity. Good balance and purity. An excellent CNP that is in a good place now, but has enough structure to last for quite awhile. This producer's wines are consistently a good value.

Not totally overdone, but I would have preferred the alcohol and ripeness dialed back a touch. There are some great flavors and complexity to be enjoyed here though. Silky tannins and some solid winemaking. Just pretty hot for my taste.

Bought this site unseen based on leve's note below. Upon arrival I saw the stated abv of 16%. Yikes. Trying to be unbiased, I served this pretty cold and decanted. I must admit the alcohol was well hidden. Sweet luscious deep cherry, chocolate covered cherry, and some twigs and beef blood from the mourvedre. Just a baby and a delicious wine but dont expect to be very productive the next day. 2016 rhone appear to be as good as they say but ripe as all get out.

Much better than the previous, bottle. Popped & poured, as the wine opened in the glass, the sensual textures really took hold. The ripe, juicy, spicy, kirsch and black cherry shined, from start to finish. Concentrated, full bodied and with no hard edges, this is drinking in the sweet spot.

I haven‘t had this in a few years. It has developped really nicely since my last bottle. Open and radiant, this is showing notes of blackberries, dark cherries and kirsch, some dark notes of soil, some notes of leather/roasted bone marrow. It's full bodied and dense, with excellent mid-palate persistence. As most 2010s, this also has nice medium-high acidity and still medium tannin that is very good quality, it has melted away a little since my last bottle. Long finish. A really excellent CdP from this excellent producer and great vintage. While my personal taste has moved away a little from these wines, this is really excellent.
