2015 Edge Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley

This is from Alexander Valley. The listing here AND the producer's website says Napa, but the bottle says Alexander Valley.

with 10% Cab Franc. Medium nose shows cedar, blackberry, fresh espresso, graphite, baking spice. Palate gives tasty and smooth layers, blackberry, fresh herbs, hint of blueberry, black plum, coffee grounds, then a solid structure of medium plus tannins, alcohol, medium acidity. Solid value, nice expression of Sonoma Cab. Could have more of a dark tone or espresso note I'd look for.

Much better with significant decant and 2nd day. It is heavy and plodding on PnP. Needs air to quiet things down. It's good body and mouthfeel but on the sweet side and not much going on besides fruit and oak. Ultimately becomes an easy drinker and crowd pleaser. Hard to be too picky for $20.

Opened and poured, this showed similarly to a previously tasted bottle. The time, the wine showed more expressive aromatics and better balance on the medium/full bodied palate.

I am extremely impressed with this effort. Popped and poured through Venturi. Beautiful color, thick legs, great structure and balance. Tnnins are present, but not overwhelming. Drinking wonderful now, yet I believe will continue to evolve and last another 3-4 years in the cellar. For less than $20, I have not found a better Napa Cab...stocking up on this one.

Sweet oak / vanilla-spice on the nose. Full, very extracted (like overripe) wine. Big, but one note, lacks any depth or complexity. Lots of sweet chocolate baking spices, and mocha. Short finish. A very flamboyant side with a bit of sweetness and grapes that I presume were picked late. That said, for ~$20, this is a good wine from Ray Signorello, that spent 16-months in 50% new French oak barrels. But, you're not getting a sense of place, or any type of complexity out of this. It does what it's likely supposed to at the price point however. I would drink again.

Definetly decant for an hour before drinking. Some tart alchohol diminishes on decanting. After a fairly well balanced wine, good value and reasonable everyday wine. Nothing special on the finish.

Not as good as my first TN, vastly simpler than I recall. Not bad, mind you, just lacking and depth or complexity. Aromas of blackcurrant, licorice, crushed gravel and leather. Full-bodied. creamy and rich. Red and black fruit flavors, with a peppery finish. Broad muscular tannins add structure.

Really a great value and very well rounded. Nice floral and fruit forward nose, great inky ruby color in the glass, immediately approachable as a pop-and-pour, very balanced on the palette. Nothing special (no "oh wow" moments), but all around a solid wine and something worth having on hand.

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised with this bottle. IT DEFINITELY NEEDS TO BREATHE A BIT, it had an awful plastic/american cheese nose when we first opened it, and took a solid hour to hour and a half in the decanter to blow off. Once there it was a very enjoyable Cab. Classic cherry and oak notes with even some of that tobacco or leather often found in Cali cabs. At sub-$20 this is great QPR!

This is a solid effort for < $20. I'm getting floral arrangement on the nose intermixed blackberry. P & P but it could have used some decanting. Loads of cherry and cranberry on the palate but found the structure to be very nicely layered with a silky texture. A bit of alcohol through the finish but see this this getting it's sea legs with a few years on it's side. A good QPR

Big and delightful. Good structure and tannins blend into a Cali Cab that makes alot of sense. Big cassis and black fruit. This is classic cali, if not too young.

I have to admit, I bought this wine based on the label. I was pleasantly surprised by the wine. Black fruit flavor with under notes of cedar.

Upon first opening, this wine is hugely green and vegital. 2 hours in the decanter brings the dark fruit to the surface and really transforms this wine. Dusty, earth, cedar, vanilla and tobacco all are fairly harmonious. the acid is zippy but the body of the wine holds it in place. moderate + tannins mellow with the decant while the finish is long and vegetal with a sweet vanilla and worn leather that hangs on for a good minute.
This wine reeks of Bordeaux so if you are hopping for a fruit forward Cali Cab don't pick this guy up.

Not even worth writing a detailed note. Fruit is mostly gone, no structure and just flabby (I didn't even know what that was until I tasted this wine.) Best used for cooking at this point.

Agree with previous note. Friends brought this over Sunday night and we had it before dinner. Nothing earth shattering but a nice everyday drinker. We all loved the bottle. Has nothing to do with the taste, but it is cool. I have no formal notes, but I remember a very dark color. Simple fruit aroma. And a very easy drink. smooth and delicious going down.

I remember the peron that brought it mentioning it costs about $20.

Very good wine. Rich but not overly ripe. Oaked but not overly oaked. Excellent at the price point. Some nice rich fruit, plum perhaps, spicy, medium length smooth finish.

Very pleasant cab, simple and delicious. Had it over a couple nights with various cuisine. It reminded me of a lesser Beringer "Knight's Valley", which is one of my favorite "go-to" wines. It had structure, medium bodied, with some length and a suitable finish. What else can one ask for in a wine that costs $25? Not too bad....

Smoky, leathery, tobacco maybe cherry tobacco, dark fruit that is pretty rich. Tannins are kind of velvety. Fruit stands out for its ripeness on the finish. Very nice.

The most notable feature is a lingering, peppery finish. A bit harsh in the nose, smooth dark berries and black cherry in the mouth. We tried this with and without the Venturi, and preferred it without.
