This wine reminds me of truffle mac-n-cheese...not in flavor, but more in the comfort food that is SO satisfying...able to be gobbled up without thinking...yet the mind is engaged and tastebuds activated with the added truffles...more so than just straight MNC. This wine is creamy, 1er worthy, and almost balanced too well...nothing stands out, kind of boring to me as I like unique things that scream something! Ripe orchard fruits(pear/apple)...tad sweetness, but like a sweet lemon...crisp and super crystalline pureness...plenty citrus cut and crushed oyster shell salinity. Very pretty white flower, spearmint florals and sweet vanilla bean spice...slight lees. Just a leisurely, uneventful, but totally satisfying cruise down the river. I drank the whole bottle myself!

Poured at our wine group dinner at Le Provencal. Loved this way; a lucky buy from Checkers, where I happened to spot five bottles sitting behind some other burgundies on the shelf. Well received by everyone at the dinner, although most thought it was a Cali chard. Glad I grabbed it all from the shelf; this is a great value that can be popped and poured for any occasion. Will definitely be keeping an eye put for more

Large Chardonnay Tasting At The Shop:

In the glass the wine is deceivingly pale; clear lemon with a silver tinge. The nose has a lovely mix of lemon zest, chalk, carrot cake, fried yams , flint and pressed flowers. Everyone agreed that although there was a more awe-inspiring expression, if we had to choose one to sip daily, this would be it. The texture on the palate was silky from front to back leaving you with the gentle prickle of well integrated acidity. Notes of toasted walnut and clarified butter rose from the finish giving it a grounding earthy quality. I personally ranked this wine second in the grand scheme of things.

Good wine, good tension and depth of flavour and definitely one gets more here than a mere village. Has a meursault side to it at this stage a bit more buttery than the tension of Puligny. Very good though 90-91

Drank with Chris and Stephanie at the 7 Fishes + dinner. Gave this a little more time to open up than last bottle. Very nice burg, especially at this price.see prior notes for flavor profile. Drinks well now and will probably age well

Opened for 11th anniversary at the Ritz. Nose of field herbs, lemony citrus, buttered toast and salt air. Flavors of slightly grilled lemon with hints of green melon and yellow apple, butter with a nutty grain component like couscous, thyme & other herbs, all balanced with a nice saline minerality. Was much better closer to room temperature vs fridge. Fantastic.

This needed about an hour or so of air before the pretty, dark red fruit , earthy sous bois undertones and Vosne spice notes began to shine. There’s good depth and concentration here along with a mid length to longish finish. I also think that this has a reasonable qpr.

At home on July 4th w Valerie, paired with sautéed scallops and grilled veggies. Been a couple years since I have tasted this, last bottle from a batch bought at release. I think the wine has gotten consistently better over the time I have had it.

From prior notes: "Citrus, green apple, melon, butterscotch, toast and French oak. Has retained a crisp minerality...grain and toast on the nose" Palate was elegant and expressive, silky texture along with an orchard fruit profile. In a really good spot right now, I would drink over the coming few years, not likely to get better.

One additional point, this drank much better as it warmed in the glass, a little air time and very slight chill seem optimal...great stuff

I’m not typically a Beaujolais fan, but every once in awhile I stumble across a Cru Beaujolais that surprises me, this is one of them. Rich, penetrating, bright red fruit with lots of earthy and tarry undertones. The tannins on the long finish, although still a little chalky, are soft and well integrated. It’s seems that Alex Gambal treats his Beaujolais with the same care that he treats his Burgundies and at $16 a bottle this is a great baby burgundy with a great qpr!

Love this. Rich golden wheat colour in the glass. Lemongrass, a bit of wood smoke and minerals on the nose. Luxurious mouth feel. Deep and wide flavours. Lemon and lime, grapefruit, juicy tart green apple, toast and butter, and minerals. Excellent balance between the lush sweetness and the tart acidity. Long finish with lingering lemongrass.

This is gorgeous. Rich yet perfectly balanced. A whiff of oak and flowers on the nose - this certainly has a fair amount of wood, but it is definitely not over-the-top. Excellent weight and precision. Very focused palate with notes of guava, white fruits, cedar and grapefruit. A verve of minerality on the long finish. This will benefit from more time in the cellar, but is drinking fantastically today with a couple of hours of air. Fantastic effort for the appellation!

Second and last of two bottles bought about a year ago from John Hoover..
This one was much better than the first one tasted on Christmas Day:
Dark golden color, ripe and attractive nose in the way only a good White Burgundy can smell...
Rich and with good weight and balance on the palate: ripe fruit coupled with minerality, and some balancing acidity.
Reminds me of the apple tart I am eating at my sister's....
A pleasure to drink and fully mature. I would say: Drink up it will only go downhill from here!

Last bottle, at home w some casual fare. PnP, slight chill.

Deep/medium gold color. Citrus, white flower and oyster shell on the nose Palate showing ripe orchard fruits, tart apple, meyer lemon. Nice notes of hazelnut, baked apples, mineral notes through the finish. Medium weight, long finish.

I was wrong in my last tasting, this has improved and put on some more weight. Really gorgeous this evening, layered and complex...

At home with some casual dinner, following up a Gambal St Aubin from last night. Purchased post a visit to the domaine afew years back...This was slightly chilled, drank over 3 hours

Citrus and oak(?) on the nose. Palate of tart apple, lemon, crisp citrus, butter, honeysuckle. Medium weight and finish, right in its zone now. Should drink well for some time but not likely to improve. This was at its best between 1-2 hours in, faded a bit after that...

At home with sauteed scallops and rice, this one has been resting in the cellar for a couple years. First tasted at the domaine with Alex a couple years ago.

Medium gold color, seems to have put on some weight since last tasting. Nose of lime zest and white flowers. Crisp palate of citrus, quince, integrated oak. Sophisticated and layered finish. In a good spot now, may continue to improve.

Very nice...AG is always a reliable go-to white Burgundy

Wow... opened a magnum and (at least on the pnp) the wine was SOOO much more aciditic, mouth-puckering, energized than the two 750's I've tasted in the last couple months... rating and more input to come after a three hour decant and our dinner tonight....... 94 is an extraordinary rating for me, so as u might guess this wine bloomed over the long decant, and was absolutely the wine of the night (IMHO)... beautiful lemon fruit, with great acidity enough acidity and minerality to carry a slight hint of sweetness... BEAUTIFUL!!!... (NB - wondering if bottle variation could occur -- the two notes from earlier this year were not as complementary, but those were 750's from a different supplier, not the magnum format we had this night... hmmm?!?)

this was a great drink... only suffered from being soooo easygoing / fruity... happily the fruit was nice citrus with a good helping of acidity, but there was a pretty hefty dash of sweetness in this... simple wine but very very enjoyable to quaff... good for hot summer nights... hopeful this may be able to put on some complexity in which case the rating could easily go up by 2-3 point

The nose was rich and smoky with crushed stone, dried peaches, and honey. On the palate, I found soft textures with a sweet and sour display of stone fruit with hints of lemon, ginger spice and minerals. The finish was long showing gorgeous salinity.

This needed about 15 min to open up. Went from dark fruits to brighter fruits over an hour or so. The youthfulness this exhibited 2 years ago is gone and this is now in its prime and best consumed near term. Nice balance and finish. I’m starting to realize I prefer these entry level vosne romanees on release or within a year or 2. Overall enjoyable on its own without food. Revisit 2024
