6/24/2013 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: 89 pointsNice wine. A lot of cherry and cassis, it really could pass for a new world blend, as I saw mentioned in one of the early notes. Lacks complexity and depth, but good intergration, and soft tannin. Great buy. I gave it an hour decant. |

5/14/2013 - FarmerKeith LA/VA wrote: 90 pointsCan't believe the scores on this, though I am the latest taster. This is a very enjoyable, affordable, Bordeaux . The Bordeaux terroir is muted , but so is the tannin. I gave it 90 min open bottle. I might've guessed right bank , if blind tasted on this. I think there's a large ratio of merlot in it. It's juicy , delicious and a real pleasure. Drinks lovely ,right now. Tempted to buy a few cases as a classy house wine. The only reason I didn't go 91 , was depth/ complexity. |

12/10/2013 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: 90 pointsA lot going on here. light color/body. Not a ton of oak, making it seem old world , if blind. Plenty of secondary elements.(soil, stone) There's a chalky/raspy note , that I find similar to Cab Franc, that I find pleasant here , while it's the reason I don't care for most Cab Francs. It's noticeable, but doesn't dominate the wine, like it does in Cab Franc. Very interesting, and enjoyable wine. |

12/27/2015 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: 91 pointsSo good. It's a blend of tart cherry/ raspberry, mushroom, wet leaf, forest floor and a hint of spice and anise. Delicious and complex, fairly long finish. If pressed , the fruit to earth ratio is even. it's very nice and an unbelievable Burgundy value. |

11/26/2014 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: 90 pointsMuch better 2nd day. The cinsault/mourvedre skank (decomposed element in 1st tasting note) , blended more nicely with the grenache. I didn't get any meat, until day 2, and fascinating , as that's a Northern Rhone thing. HHH is a great region. Need to learn more, IE, high elevation? climate? this is a nice wine, and was a good buy. |

6/7/2014 - FarmerKeith LA/VA wrote: 91 pointsThis is drinking beautifully right now. The rich , dark fruit, oak , and tannins , have blended to a fairly complex, balanced, immensely enjoyable cab. Gave it an hour decant, and it improved over dinner. |

5/24/2015 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: 91 pointsEven better now . it's easy and sophisticated , a great combination , and very well made. Just realized its more Mourvèdre than Grenache. Most innarestin. Sad it's the last one. |

5/1/2013 - FarmerKeith LA/VA wrote: 92 pointsOne of those magical burgundies. 45 min after opening, beautiful nose full of cherry , complex palate , and a nice lingering cherry finish. Some bracing tannin, but such a joy, it doesn't bother. Seems to add more nuance with every 15 minutes. This would be worthy, but difficult to sit on for years. |

5/23/2013 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: 90 pointsRich and lush. I really rate it 90.9. I don't go higher because of complexity, but this is lovely wine ,immensely enjoyable , and I'd say a bargain at the price. |

2008 Château de FerrandSt. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend more |
1/22/2013 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: 90 pointsI gave it 2 hrs decant. I like this wine. Nice nose. On palate fruit is black cherry/currant/blackberry to me , and very subtle lavender and cedar. It's got good finish length. After the decant , the tannins seem to melt somewhat, and it became much more integrated, with nice mouthfeel, on the full side for a bordeaux. drinks well now |

2009 Château Grand TayacMargaux Red Bordeaux Blend more |
8/20/2015 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: 90 pointsSuper enjoyable wine, like a bridge between new world and Bordeaux. It has the earth, oak, cedar, light graphite, but very lush pronounced black fruit, and soft tannin. The most amazing thing, they actually put on the back label , save for 3-4 years! Unbelievable, a Margaux producer , actually telling you, we produced this for new world taste, don't age for long. It's delightful now , at 6 years though. |

5/22/2016 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: NRGive it 30 minutes and you've got a delicious new world Bordeaux blend. It's oaky, but doesn't kill you and while it's 14.5 it doesn't seem hot . It's very well made and has good balance with the rich fruit. |

3/2/2015 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: 90 pointsDrinking better right now . So glad I cellared it. Dark fruit, earth, tobacco , forest floor, full bodied. The tannic edge has mellowed nicely, to blend with the rich, almost sweet, fruit. A slight harsh note, I attribute to carignan, disappeared the 2nd day. Interesting wine, with a great label. |

11/10/2014 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: 91 pointsMost pleased(and surprised). I was not disappointed , or delighted , when I last tried this. I seem to remember suspecting some brett as well. The nose is deceptive, and funky. Palate is nice fruit, forest floor, earth, mushroom, and supple tannin. Finish is medium, and I wish to hell I had more of these left. Also, as mentioned, really nice burg body ,my humble experience, says just a hair over medium, if comparing all of cote d'or |

2011 Olivier Ravoire GigondasRed Rhone Blend more |
7/31/2016 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: NRModerate complexity , moderate finish, and like any Gigondas , generous , lush but balanced, and simply delicious . Who can't love them? Also watch out for gigantic sediment chunks!(I'm hoping this was an errant swollen stem, it resembled many other things ) |

10/13/2014 - FarmerKeith LA/VA wrote: NRThis would be the wine with a brand feature , in the "Team America" movie,, if they'd have had one. Pinot Noir on steroids, barely recognizable. After drinking burgundy for a year, this is massive alcohol , oak, and fruit. It's so extracted , it's difficult to tell if there were secondary notes. Have this with a beef filet, smothered in bacon, and blue, and deep fried. Forget about the salmon. |

10/23/2013 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: 90 pointsTypical big , juicy, black fruit , driven , new world cab qualities. This is silky smooth, and nicely integrated tanin , for so young a cab. Oak seems pretty subtle for a new world . |

4/24/2013 - FarmerKeith LA/VA wrote: 87 pointsDisappointing, and over priced. I had a previous, I think it was the 2007, years ago, and loved it . I was expecting a nice Napa version of a Left Bank blend. It's still big, and lush, but somehow reminds me of a Rhone . |

5/18/2015 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Does not like this wine: NROut of six bottles , 4 were over-oxidized, brass colored, bruised nasty , apple taste. 1 was light gold,1 dark gold, both drinkable , but pretty crap. Certainly not the majestic, lovely , Puligny, we love and expect. Ya get what ya pay for, seems applicable ,here. |

11/13/2013 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: 92 pointsSuperb wine . Lots of depth and complexity. It's close to some syrah in the flavors, I get some dark plum. I probably would've guessed that , in a blind. |

2010 Faiveley Mercurey Clos Rochette BlancChardonnay more |
11/30/2014 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: 89 pointsAs Claire mentioned, this is a little low on the acid we expect from pretty much all white burgundies(and far less than Chablis). I still think it is very nice, surprising oak for the price point. That could also be a lot of lees stirring, masquerading as oak. Nice body, moderate complexity , and moderate finish. Great value. |
