2008 Cornerstone Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Drinking well at fifteen years, but quickly reaching maturity. Completely integrated black and red fruits, tannin, acid, and oak. Good balance, but not much complexity. Needs food. Drink now.

Good color and body. Upfront a little dark fruit until the finish that has some tobacco leaf/Cigar notes. Not bad, friends thought it was average.

Oh yes. This is very good and punches well above its weight class. Hits all the notes and is not an in-your-face wine that most Americans seem to love.

Amazingly deep and vibrant colour transitioning to a lightly brown rim. Nutmeg, tobacco and rose petals on the bouquet. Ripe pomegranate, fig, anise, strawberry jam and dried cranberry in the middle with Bingham cherry lingering on the long finish. Have had this wine cellared for 30 years and it remains balanced with fruit, smooth acids and velvety tannins. Do you think I loved it? Last bottle. Ugh.

Garnet. Fast thin legs. Medium to full body, cherry, blackberry, touch of oak, vanilla. Dry. Soft. Tannic.

Very nice, tasty....could have been bolder for me. If this was full bodied it would have gotten a higher score.

Absolutely Stunning! To-Kalon grapes, so distinctively unique. Tasted Double Blind, & you could tell the difference from all the other Napa Cabs. Worth every penny! Punches well above it's weight class!

Great Pinot nose of red berries. Jammy center mouth feel, balanced core, solid fruit. Solid effort. Huge QPR. Buying again. Great Pinot to have around to bring into groups, weekday dinners. Etc.

Napa Valley Red Bordeaux Blend more

4/8/2013 - The Drunken Cyclist Likes this wine: 91 points

Retail $125. This wine is available to the Wine Club only. It certainly needs more time but it is oh so, so good. One of the richer, more complete wines I have had in a while. Great fruit and a stiff backbone, I would hold this for at least 5-8 years and more than likely 10-15. Exceptional. 93-95 Points.

4/8/2013 - The Drunken Cyclist Likes this wine: 92 points

(pre-release): Retail $35. Again, the 2010 was a bit bigger than the 2009. The 2009 seems to be more conducive for the table, while the 2010 is so expressive with much more raspberry fruit. The 2010 is unctuous and rich, and almost demands to be consumed on its own. Excellent. 91-93 Points.

Retail $20. 100% Syrah. We tried both the 2011 and the 2012 of the Coraline, and the pre-release 2012 was incredible. Considerable heft and weight for a rosé, really remarkable. The reason? Unlike 90% (or more) of the rosés made in this country, this is not a saignée (the wine is not bled off a red wine). This fruit is only used to make a rosé. What a difference. Excellent. 91-93 Points.

4/8/2013 - The Drunken Cyclist Likes this wine: 91 points

Retail $25. Interesting nose and a wonderful mouthfeel. The wine was both acidic and creamy at the same time; I was convinced there was some semillion blended in, but it was 100% SB, aged in 2-3 year old oak. This is one of the best SB I’ve had in a while. Excellent. 90-92 Points.

Nose of red cherry, sage, and dusty gravel, same on the palate, tasty, fruit forward, medium/big body, and a lovely, sea salt, medium/long finish, needs 2 year to peak and will last another 8 years.
