4/13/2024 - Gargantua Likes this wine: NRBright, clean and taut. Gentle lemon finish. Graphite and underripe apricot. Easy, and works with a broad input of food. Your friend at the table and afterwards in the drawing room. |

4/22/2024 - Gargantua Does not like this wine: NRNope. Too big, too caramel-y with the fruit. Overripe feel to me. Blocky and a bit hot. Does not refresh. |

4/22/2024 - Gargantua Does not like this wine: NRIt's just too much for my Burgundian-leaning palate; a bit hot, a bit oaky (still, can you believe it), and a bit jammy. Was my favorite many years ago when we visited their tasting room in Oregon, but ultimately I wonder if this could've aged another 5 years into a more appealing form for my palate. Oh well, I'll never know--only bottle. |

3/23/2024 - Gargantua Likes this wine: NRReally impressed, especially as the only red on the table alongside Bricolage Viet takeout with a whole bunch of other great Rieslings. Felt bright, lean, and red-fruited just the way I like it. |

4/14/2024 - Gargantua Likes this wine: NRShowed just the way I'd hoped--plush fruit that felt rich but not slutty, youthful and springtime energetic. Insane way to wrap up an unforgettable 50th bday dinner at Jungsik. |

2010 Domaine Roulot Meursault Les Tessons Clos de Mon PlaisirChardonnay more |
4/14/2024 - Gargantua Likes this wine: NRMade us so happy--that intense Roulot minerality that reminds me of asphalt, but a subtle thin rich nutty layer as well. Great color, no signs of oxidation in this bottle from the menu at Jungsik. Delivered. |

4/14/2024 - Gargantua Likes this wine: NRRound and complete and tangerine-like acidity and fruit, went great with our Jungsik tasting dinner. |

4/12/2024 - Gargantua Likes this wine: NRBase 2018, off the list at The Grill. Richer and fruitier than the 2014 I’d tried, still that great intense umami minerality. Jane just loved it. Worked for us! |

4/7/2024 - Gargantua Likes this wine: NRLovely and versatile at the table. After I uncorked it--was hell bent on trying it soon--I worried it might clash with seared tuna and other sushi. "Wtf was I thinking; how on Earth will Chenin's orchard fruit interface with salty fish". Well, let me tell you, this Vouvray and our yellowtail hamachi were meant to be. Worked great with everything on the table. Richer at its core than the Batardiere Cocus I'd tried recently, but still nothing too outsized the way the fruit on my beloved Chidaine can be in recent vintages (still love those, but they're not as nervy as they once were in past cooler vintages). Great stuff. |

4/5/2024 - Gargantua Likes this wine: NRTaut and chiseled, and has just the right amount of fruit to my liking. Not funky by any measure. Best Chenin I’ve had in a while. Really like that it’s 12.5, just in my wheelhouse. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

3/30/2024 - Gargantua Likes this wine: NRGreat stuff. 2014 Loire Cab Franc (and 2014 red Burg) is really having a moment right now in my experience. |

3/30/2024 - Gargantua wrote: NRQuite impressive. I was sort of wanting to hate this wine, because I'm an old codger that is still hating on these pricier CdNV bottles, but honestly tasting this right now I feel this wine delivers for the price. Suave and pure, slightly fullish fruit, and some rose and soapy elements on the nose that are probably the result of the stem inclusion. I agree with Jasper Morris that the stems don't stick out nearly as much as you'd think for 100% whole cluster. Worth it. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

3/16/2024 - Gargantua wrote: NROff a wine list with steak. Great, but didn't bring as much joy as the 2014 Couly-Dutheil Clos de l'Echo did recently. Made me wonder if this wine is in some transitional state, but in a busy restaurant it's never easy to focus. |

3/9/2024 - Gargantua Likes this wine: NRJust perfect, made us so happy. Just incomparable with steak. Exactly what I wanted it to be, at just the right moment in its life. So glad I aged it to this point. Throws a great deal of sediment so beware. |

3/2/2024 - Gargantua Likes this wine: NROutrageously good, one of the best natural wines I’ve had in many years. A personal highlight amongst all of Cyril Fhal’s wines tasted this week with the portfolio.Has a pleasant ripe concentrated fruit but feels airy. No barnyard. |

2/17/2024 - Gargantua Likes this wine: NRThis is hands-down the greatest young vintage of this I’ve tried, and I’ve been following the wine for over 10 years — just perfect! great but not searing, acidity and all the character you would want from Assyrtiko growing in volcanic soils near the sea. |

2/25/2024 - Gargantua Likes this wine: NRThis wine is just perfect and I’d buy it even if it were $40/bottle. Sweet cranberry, charcoal, and fresh button mushroom. Just a glorious red wine, that any human being with a pulse would love endlessly. Explodes ideas you have about price tags and pleasure. |

2/11/2024 - Gargantua Likes this wine: NRActually quite nice. Dry tart finish with the lightest cherry cordial layer of fruit in a lean textured feel. Thankfully avoids feeling heavy in any sevse, which is to my mind the most important function of a rosé. |

2021 Domaine Castera Jurançon Sec TauzyManseng Blend more |
1/28/2024 - Gargantua Likes this wine: NRIntense limeade, green apple and hints of graham cracker. There’s a fleshiness on the midpalate that gets washed away by the intense, dry lime finish that’s critical to the overall balance. Very Sweet Tarts on the late accumulative finish. Easy to drink, a wonderful option for lovers of dry wine who want sthg new/are bored with the classics. |
