Decanted for 5 hours but needed more time. Was still tight and unwilling to give up its best. I think this will be better in 5-10 years.

If I could buy these bottles at the price I paid for them upon release, I still wouldn't. These wines from Gaja are incredibly over priced and over rated in my opinion. I do like there straight Barbaresco on occasion but I have honestly never been impressed with any of their single vineyard crus. I especially have issues with the era in which they blended the 5% Barbera into the single vineyard bottlings. The 2001 Sori Tildin was soft and velvety in the mouth, but lacked complexity and was lackluster. The Barbera is prevalent and distracting to me and I would imagine other true lovers of Barolo and Barbaresco.

Drank last nite at the Czech embassy with our make-shift Cepages group. Decanted at the table for an hour before drinking, and this wine really needed it. Nose similar to prior tastings, with good aromas of roses, tar and herbs. Black fruit is prominent, and the wine surprisingly remains quite tannic, particularly noticeable up front. There's tar with some herbal and savory notes, and the wine seems bigger, chunkier than I recall. Balance would prob be my biggest complaint on this occasion, or lack thereof, due to the tannic nature of this particular bottle. I would decant for a longer period next time around

Mama Mia, the nose was off the hook. Drinking beautifully. I’d recommend 2 hours of air before approaching this one. Wish I had another to open in 2-3 years.

Wonderful wine that still has a thick layer of tannins within it (at least in this bottle). Again, I found the floral notes that accompany younger bottles of this wine (roses, honey, apple blossom(?)) to be gone. Other than that, beautiful wine without the herbaceousness some other barbarescos have that can be off putting.

Delicious, surprisingly rich for the Barbaresco. Dark fruits, damson, black cherry. Wonderful tar, so moorish. Great structure, balanced by great fruit. Very long with complexity. Drinking perfectly now.

Really exciting nose with black cherries, leather and a note of perfume. Pure, nothing sticks out here like all great wines. At times almost like silk, before a medium finish kicks in with nice structure and dryness. Tasted at release where the impression was the same, although it has gained power and structure. Just wished for a little more of everything to be exceptional.

Don’t be afraid - this one’s still singing and dancing like you wouldn’t imagine. Still so delicate - round and well balanced tannins - beautiful finish and fruit! Yes!! Fruit!!

Brick red in color. Sandalwood, prune and clay pot on nose and reminiscent of a port. Cherry and vanilla in taste again with some oxidized notes like a port. Tannins have moderated and marry well with acidity. Drinking well and time to drink. I experienced none of the issues described by others, perhaps as this was a 375 ml stored in a Eurocave. Served with truffle risotto and a very complementary pairing.

Stood up for a week, cork crumbled even with a Durand, very light red, mature nose, gloriously alive with fruits, acidity, freshness, incredible it’s 60 yo, stewed meat, cherries, earth, complex nose, identical to the bottle drank in 2022, just losing out on the balance with acidity cutting through with the fruits not able to hold up, but I’m nit picking, never faded over 3 hours, nose alone 97! Palate 93

Extremely good showing, my first bottle of these 2004 Gajas. Still extremely youthful, but generous nose, resplendent with red fruit, roses, violets, intensified over the course of the evening. Palate still youthfully crunchy, mostly cherry but a long tart engaging finish. With dinner (truffle gnocchi, classic Italian ragu, and some well seasoned flank steak) the tannins calmed down a lot and the wine was almost silky. Very good now, likely better in the future.
