This wine is a disgrace to the dutraive record I so far have. At first it seems like the fun and super generous dutraive I am familiar with but give it 30 minutes to an hour, let alone the next day...and this is absolutely disgusting. This is bad wine. Mousy is just a word that begins to describe the defect. I have had 3 bottles of this before saying anything about it especially on a review comment and unfortunately I still have another bottle left if anyone wants it I’ll take $100 for this rare bottle. All 3 bottles did the same thing...corn chips, puke, and that sour beer note that is just vile and gross on the palette and for a long finish of disgusting. An absolute disgrace. I won’t be purchasing anymore dutraive after such a move. Disgraceful that importers and distributors also went along with selling this trash. Shameful. Truly a real disgrace of a wine. Should have just let the vintage go. This is like the sewer water of a bad storm. Just let it go. Don’t make us pay for this garbage.

Really good, though not as over the top as the Ardanza GRs. It is a little sweeter and almost jamier than its big brothers that spend more time on wood before bottling. Still pure pleasure, fruit, tabaco and wood, medium complexirt & integrated

Especially given the context you shared, the wine is even more impressive. As I said, I did enjoy it, just had the wrong frame of reference. Cheers!

The nose was dark and intense with dusty spices, black fruits, sweet herbs, dark soil tones and chalk dust. It was sweet on the palate with soft textures yet saturating to the senses with ripe blue fruits, sweet herbs and a coating of crushed violet that lingered on the senses. It finished fresh, yet more like a dessert wine with its ripe fruit.

3/7/2021 4:15:00 PM - Ah... yes, I see your point. This is my only experience with Pascale grape, and I when I had his 2013’s I figured it for a light, funky Jura style expression. And then, per my original note on the 2015’s, I felt like someone swapped out the labels. To your point “natural to the extreme”...will always come with some pros and cons. Thanks...

Would be a fine find and good qpr at $13... delicious red fruit, smooth like a cherry Vanilla Coke, but no complexity or structure to give me any sense it will be a stunner after a few years.

12/16/2020 11:38:00 AM - This is the $40-$50 wine. I did not rate it a good value at that price from that tasting. I will cellar the rest for a few years. My point was that it drank like a good $13 wine (or poor $40 wine) & so it had a weak qpr (quality price ratio).

Had in Shanghai. Tight and unbalanced upon PnP. A couple of hours decant is a must to loose the tight grip. Medium bodied, but the mid palate is surprisingly hollow for a cal cab this caliber. Never really fully opened. Maybe slightly off due to poor storage.

Best wine I have had in long while. Classic, rich guilt fwd bordeaux. 2hr decant. Could have used a few more hours a well as a few more years in the bottle.
