6/14/2013 - jshearer Likes this wine: 90 pointsRed apple and waxy lemon peel on the nose. A little minerality and a hint of something savory. Still nice energy on contact, followed up quickly by lemon peel and orchard fruit. Solid wine still showing well. |

11/20/2014 - ewsds wrote: 88 pointsI agree with a few recent notes that this wine is in its drinking window and that window is slowly closing. Quite surprised though, because the 2010s in general are well-structured and seem to have a long life ahead. In addition, Tempranillo is a grape that ages quite well (when it has the structure to do so). Overall, this is thinning and while it still has good flavor, it's a on its way out, and I'll drink my remaining bottles in the next few months. Overall, disappointing.

2/9/2014 - WST wrote: NRSurprised none of the TN's above mention oak. A beautiful bottle of wine, but much more accessible than I expected, and not showing much typicality of Chablis. More lush white orchard fruit than citrus; more toast and vanilla than seashells and saline. Has GC density of fruit, but very lush, and I'd never have guessed GC Chablis had I tasted this blind.

5/6/2014 - jshearer Likes this wine: 90 pointsFloral nose with ripe strawberries, dark raspberries, spicy balsamic, and something savory. Well balanced in the mouth. Fruit and minerality, with a decently long finish. This only *began* to show itself after an hour in the glass, so give it some time. 90+

2/5/2014 - jshearer Likes this wine: 90 pointsSmells fantastic. Harmonious mix of floral, dark red fruit, earth, and a touch savory. In the mouth, this starts light but intensity builds. Nice acidity and dark cherries that finish dry and gently tannic with a hint of bitter dark chocolate.

1/8/2014 - jnewman77 Likes this wine: NRDelicious, but quite young and primary. Had to try one of these to see where it was after trying it a year ago at the winery. Lovely nose of bing cherry, red raspberry, baking spice, damp earth. With an hour or so in the glass the fruit became a little riper and darker with black cherry notes. The palate is very lively with fantastic acidity and lots of red fruit, minerality, and earth. I think this is going to turn into a stellar wine, but it is quite young at this point. With another 5-10 years of bottle age I think it will develop more complexity and incorporate its acidity even more. A very nice effort. I probably won't try another for at least 4-5 years.

10/28/2013 - gripNsip Likes this wine: 91 points50% white-pressed Pinot Munier/50% Pinot Blanc. Smells rad and very unlike other wines, it reminds me both of Riesling and raspberries. Really interesting. Very balanced on the palate with fresh acidity that is well integrated and plays well with the small amount of residual sugar. Sweet apples, kiwi, green melon and star fruit show on the palate. Really delicious overall, complex, well-made, and super easy to drink. The acidity on this is done really well.

4/3/2012 - rickspicks wrote: 89 pointsOverall a very solid and enjoyable wine. Slightly earthy, dark fruit nose and with cherry, spice and earth on the palate. Just slightly plush, with nice balance, good structure and plenty of grip. Simple, but also without any faults. An easy, every-day drinker that outperforms most other entry level pinots.

8/14/2013 - gripNsip Likes this wine: 89 pointsCreamy nose, it's reminding me of lemon pie, also a bit melon fruit. Smells good. The palate shows stone fruits, ripe nectarine, oranges. Balanced acidity brings up the finish, one could say there is some minerality because this almost has some texture and there is something on the finish that makes me think minerality but I'm not entirely sure. Anyways, overall it's a nice wine. If you like this grape it's worth checking out a bottle, there are a handful of Oregon producers that do this grape well and I can list Eyrie as one of them.

3/22/2013 - jshearer Likes this wine: 90 pointsThis needed about an hour of air to come together. After opening up, the nose was dark - ripe and dusty dark fruits, olive brine, bone marrow. Similar notes on the palate but with some dark chocolate and an interesting sweetness without any discernible RS. Good acidity on contact with firm but well-integrated tannins drying out the tongue on the finish.
