Her denne gått i dvale? Litt lukket nese med rødbær og skogsbær samt litt lær. Nyansert, elegant og lagvis, men mangler likevel konsentrasjon.

Light golden straw color. Smells lots if cheese, honey, brie, cabbage and elderberry flowers. It tastes a bit acidic, a bit weak and unbalanced. The wine suffers a bit from being served blind next to a Leflaive village Puligny '08 which was undisputed white WOTN. After a while lemons dominate the palate, and it seems thin and chemical. Anaemic and disappointing. Guessed Chablis blind, but would never guess this was a grand cru. Very disappointing.

2/8/2015 11:44:00 AM - We discussed this over the table. Could it be an inferior bottle, or the fact that this producer has a better reputation than it should have. I think it's probably a combination. But there were no signs of the bottle being bad. Just weak and a bit boring. And as stated initially, it came right after the WOTN and suffered greatly from that fact. The Leflaive was utterly fantastic. As for bottle history, it has been stored under perfect conditions since it's release.

2/8/2015 12:13:00 PM - I must confess it felt strange to give this bottle such a low score after seeing what other tasters has given it earlier. I wondered for a while if I should label it as flawed, but I don't think that's correct. An inferior bottle perhaps, but no faults. Thank you for commenting.

At a tasting with Paul Draper in Bergen, Norway. He tells us this wine is released just now in the US and it really needs time to open up and gain depth. He recommends we all wait till 2015 before we start drinking this one. Quite muted nose right now, but soft on the palate and with buttery meursault-ish nose. Calm and balanced on the tongue. Heavy and concentrated. Better in 5 years!

Decanted, but unfortunately still got some sediment into the decanter. A muddy brown-red colour in the glass. Filtered the rest of the sedimented remnants in the bottle to see what colour it really has, and it shows crystal sparkling clear orange-red with hints of yellow in the edges.

Soft and sympathetic nose with raisins and hints of a damp cellar in a juice factory. No signs of oxidizing, there is plum fruit here!

The palate confirms the nose. Soft ripe fruit with hints of tannins still there. A gentle adventure of plums and earth in perfect harmony. Impressive balance. I am really surprised this wine still has so much guts!

9/25/2014 1:56:00 PM - Hello! Thank you. I would decant only for removing sediment, and start drinking immediately. Because of bottle variation any bottle could be fantastic, or fall together after an hour. You could lose the magic moments if you decant any period of time. Good luck!

Fruity, old, lovely. Taste is rich and with very powerful aftertaste. Extremely well put together. This was opened late in the evening so the tasting note is not very extensive. Sorry about that. Would really recommend this wine though.

9/17/2014 12:52:00 AM - Hello! My bottle still had plenty of tannins and aging potential for at least 5 years, but you can never know exactly because of bottle variety. I would guess the wine is perfect now and until 2018.

Dark and young red colour.Very few signs of aging. Blind I would have had to say maximum ten years old. Smells dried fruits, hint of broth, rubber, caramel and old cellar. Tastes completely divine. A wine of this age giving these amounts of fruit on the palate is magical. 56 years old and kicking butt like a teenager. Fruit, flowers, power, balance, concentration and a richness goes all the way through the body of this wild stallion. I'm riding!

3/18/2014 12:48:00 PM - Bought from Fine and Rare wines in London. As far as I know they are buying directly from the domaine. There has apparently been a lot of rebottling of these old wines at the domain. You can read the different tasting notes of their 1978 Barolo Riserva to see that. I think this one is also an example of that. My own thoughts are that really good barolo vintages such as 1958, will last this long if stored properly. I have one more bottle and will post a note on that one within the year.

When it comes to counterfitting, I think this is not a prestigous enough wine to counterfit. This is just an old wine that's easily obtainable and not very expensive. I do not worry, but just enjoy my only "live" bottle of the evening. My 1964, 1973 and 1978 from the same evening were all flawed or inferior.

Light straw yellow colour. Grapefruit, pineapple, kiwi and green gooseberries on the nose. Very full and concentrated nose, much simpler on the palate. Lots of tannins but also a lot of green apples initially. Balanced nicely in the mouth. Perhaps a bit short in the ending.

9/17/2013 2:12:00 AM - 9 months later I can not recall the actual taste of the wine, but you are right it sounds a bit strange. I assume I meant acidity and not tannins and this is probably only a slipup. Hope I have not confused you too much...
