Totally agree with vinoceros here. Creamy white peaches on the nose. But falls short on the palate and doesn't have the satisfying weight prior vintages have shown.

Had it by the glass at legal seafood and was stunned by how good this was.
The best pinot I have ever had...period! wonderful fruit upfront and taste like candid apples but not over extracted. The acidity was perfect. I went out and bought a bottle the next day.
Prior to this the best pinot i had was the Loring Gary's 2010, but this is even better.

WXTP Tasting (Brad's Place): Not undrinkable, but this was made in a style that I really cannot appreciate. It had a nice nose actually, with a very full, rich bouquet of black cherries patted down with earth and laden with lots of attractive wood spice aromas, cloves at the forefront I thought. There was quite a bit of oak, but this was nicely integrated in the nose. Very nice. Unfortunately, the palate was a bit of a shock to system after that. It was very extracted, almost a tad roughly I thought, with firm, slightly woody tannins overlaying rich flavours of black cherry and blackcurrant. There was a good bit of acidity, which was necessary given the rich fruit weight and alcohol on the midpalate, and the mouth-filling finish had good depth, with a nice touch of sweet cherries sprinkled with lots of spice again, pepper along with the cloves this time. However, all this was a touch disjointed with the alcohol, acid and tannins sticking out just a little at awkward angles. This may improve with time, but it was not really enjoyable on the day.

This wine is definetly reaping the benefits of the 2009 vintage. On the modern side, the 2009 Chateau Lilian Ladouys has an opaque purple color with densely packed blackberry, cassis, tobacco, and ash. Very full with round, polished tannins as well as long gripping finish. I have no problem saying this is a candidate to be the sleeper of the 2009 vintage. Chateau Lilian Ladouys is surrounded by big time neighbor's like Chateau Lafite-Rothschild and Cos d'Estournel. (Drink 2012-2027+) - March, 2012. (JD)

Probably one of the most disappointing wines I've tasted this year. Sure it's young, but I can't see my way to this ugly duckling becoming a swan. On the first night, after aerating the patient as if it were nearly dead, it was massively disjoint: Some fruit, and a lot of stems. After two days under stopper (which says a lot about how tasty it was or wasn't) it came together a bit, but tasted like a $25 Oregon Pinot. Will it be better with age? Perhaps. But I'm not interested in getting tangled up in a long-term relationship with this wine. Great wines should taste good in their youth.

If this is the future direction of California Pinot Noir I'm not interested. Is it well made? I guess. Will I buy it again? No way.

A bit disappointing considering the hype. Tannic and unbalanced upon opening. Smoothed out after some decanting. Clearly not made in the "New World" style. This producer has potential, but I think this one is overrated.

I must admit, despite not wanting to like this, it's actually pretty good and I think is way better than the '07 Georges de Latour. Unlike many big, Californian Cabs, I found this one to have nice integration between the obvious oak tones and the soft, pleasant notes of black and red fruits and tannins. Many wines made in this style feel unbalanced to me; not this one. The nose is clean with those plum, currant, blackberry and blueberry notes I look for and the palate is rich, opulent, ripe and juicy, with macerated stone fruits, mint, minerals and a long, caressing finish. Nice job.

Orin Swift does France!
Old-vine Grenache (80%), Syrah (12%) and Carignan (8%). Inky purple in the glass. On the nose, plum and blackberry. Full-bodied, massive, extracted, jammey, oakey, earthy, rustic, peppery, and raisiny. Long and hot finish. This is a completely over the top, unbalanced beast of a wine that no serious wine critic would ever describe as “elegant.” But like Phinney’s other efforts (Saldo, Prisoner, Veladora), I can’t help but like it. A good match with spicy Mexican or tomato-based Italian cuisine or pungent cheese. As an aside, the 2010, D66 is a very good wine (I give it 90 points), but not the full-throttle experience of the 09 vintage.

Medium-full bodied magenta. Aromatically beautiful with rich strawberry, red raspberry, and fresh clean earth which translates brilliantly to the palate. Silky texture balanced nearly perfectly with acidity and just a touch of tannic grip.

A benchmark California Pinot Noir from and iconic pruducer. Highly recommended.

If you want to splurge on a Delectus, you may want to try to get the 2008 Estate Cabernet (from their new property in Knights Valley) or any of their Cuvee Julia wines (1999 - 2008). They are awesome (the only drawback is they are not inexpensive...that was why this WTSO deal was so good). The 02 and 03 Cuvee Julia's are particularly amazing....

What a wine for the value! Wow! I bought this for $9. Fantastic depth and character. It exhibits a rich nose of fresh berry fruit, and the flavorful palate shows blackberries, chocolate, mocha and plums. Subtle notes of molasses, cedarwood, and ripe mulberries are complemented by soft, creamy oak tones and a smooth, silky finish. It explodes with dark fruit notes and has a great balance of tannin and acid. You could buy another a lay it down as well.

Had two bottles of this with very different bottle code etchings. Drank side by side with Ms. Dontime and another couple. Vastly different juice. This one was an over extracted fruit bomb with no character and was five shades lighter in color. The other bottle was deep in color with a smoky nose of dark fruit. Nice complexity with background flavors of chocolate and licorice. Everyone was in agreement that they were two different wines. I don't believe this is just bottle variation.

Hard to think of a more delicious wine than this. It brings the same rich, plush satisfaction of the 2008 but (at this point) balances it out a bit with a layer of brighter flavors on initial attack.
