Appealing brooding nose of animal, leather, wet soil, and sleek black fruits. Nice depth to palate with somewhat showy dark rustic fruits, black pepper and hint of bacon. Zippy acids and tannins give this some some nice heft. a little rough old style Rhone, but I really liked the depthnof the dark fruits.

3/25/2013 9:03:00 AM - Had both the 1995 and 1996 open for comparative tasting for group of five seriously experienced tasters. The wines were served blind. Everyone thought it was a Northern Rhone, with one person saying Rostaing Cote Rotie (wow!) Most thought the wines were 1999/1998. Good well stored bottles from 1995/1996 not falling apart, but unlikely to improve either IMHO.

Nice sweet sour black cherry nose.
Great density with wonderful structure, showy black cherry fruits. Toasty, vanilla finish. Packed and creamy dark sweet fruits with impressive balance.

1/13/2013 2:39:00 PM - I think this will improve, but currently drinking quite nice with just a quick decant. Served along side the 100 point 2009 Clinet and I actually preferred the Pavie 2003 just by a hair today. Had the Ch Margaux 2003 a few days ago and while clearly different in style was equally nice to the Pavie. However, my overall opinion on 2003 is to be very picky as many are quite ackward. In any case 2003 Pavie will hold many years in my opinion.
