Reductive and stinky with pongy durian fruit and some meaty notes. Breathes up ok to show green apple cider flavour. The acid is a bit flat. I suspect this is not a representative bottle.

Not my cup of tea, but a top notch Napa Cab blend. Dense and sappy, generous dark fruit and oak, very well balanced. If you like huge, well made, reasonably priced New World Bdx blends, this is your bottle. Subtle food-friendly wine - not so much.

Atypically large scaled Montlouis. Despite the vintage, this is bone-dry. Highly viscous, with great cut to keep it exciting. A fantastic interpretation of Chenin. So sad he's gone.

Coravin'd. I've been worried about my bottles since their arrival in 2008 due to slightly protruding corks. Fortunately, my worries of heat damage were unfounded. This is a dense, full bodied somewhat atypical sangiovese. Dark red and black fruit have a bit of a smokey herbal note, as well as a hint of iodine. The tannins are still prominent. Great bottle, and I like the price of this one.

Dinner in NYC (North End Grill - New York, NY): At times, this wine just really hits me the right way. Old skool claret. I doubt know about everyone else at the table, but damn, I thought this was fresh. Luckily, it did have those secondary and tertiary - smoke, earth, dark fruits and cedar. Great acidity on the finish this is a sentimental favorite as it's a birth year wine of mine!

Another leaker. Drinkable, but advanced beyond other bottles I've had. I picked up a bad batch of these from two places (WineCommune and WineBid). The photos and fill looked good, but all had leaked under the foil. I get the nasty suspicion someone knowingly auctioned their poorly stored or otherwise flawed bottles. Caveat emptor; I know this is one of the risks of backfilling my cellar. I still wish bad karma on anyone who knowingly sells their defective wines. Mine go down the sink, not to some unwitting bidder's cellar.

Sorry I missed your note until now. The bottles were not listed as "signs of past leakage," but WineBid is very good about listing this. I think the bottles may have beened cleaned; clear signs of leakage, but it only showed when the capsule was removed. Obviously, none of them had capsules you could spin; maybe acution houses should list that.

Open and expressive, drinking great at the moment. Complex, ripe, kind of uber cru beaujolais. Lots of structure but very enjoyable even so.

Love this on its own, but tonight it paled in comparison to the '96 Calon Segur.

It seemed quite green and a little shrill compared to the '96 Calon Segur. I probably gave it more credit than it deserved due to the comparison, and the fact that the glasses at our friends' house weren't terribly fine-wine friendly.

I've had a run of bad S-M's from '85 & '86; half a dozen from different sources were cooked, over-the-hill, or just plain bad. My last '85 was thankfully good. This '96 definitely didn't wow me, and I think Jenise also encountered a green one. I have a few more '96's and might hold them a bit.

Remarkable P/Q. This improved on day 2, so I'll let my remaining bottles rest a bit. zscheiner's TN is spot on. Delicate, smoky nose and palate, sour cherry, meaty raspberry, mushrooms; silky, delicate but energetic. Love it.

This wine is certianly a mystery. On first sniff there was a great nose of spies, wet forest floor, mushrooms that quickly turned to Brett (or something like it) before I even had a sip. The wine tasted nothing like it first smelled. No fruit, short, somewhat bitter. At first I thought it might just be the stems, but I'm not so sure. Waited an hour, and some fruit emerged only to again be overtaken by the bitterness. Recorked and tried the next day. Day 2: Again great nose that quickly faded. Taste not much better. My first bottle I had about 6 months ago I rated a 94 (a very high score for me). I hope this was just an off bottle, but after reading some other's notes, I don't feel as confident about my remaining bottles.

Contact the winery; they'll refund you. I'd suggest changing the score to "flawed". They've acknowledged problems with one lot of this wine.
I had one the other night that was spectacular. I have three remaining; I'm taking the gamble and keeping them based on my last bottle.

I have drank and bought several of these but I can never seem to get around to doing a note. This time I will, drank from a 375 opened last night. Slight chill, too. Nectarine, yellow apple, a strawberry note, mango, just a real nice melange of fruits. Then the finish kicks in, flushed with nice acidity, kiwi and green apple, then some honey, then more acidity. This remains delicious and still my front runner for white WOTY for 2012.
