red berry nose developing more blue and black fruit with time as well as tobacco and meat. mid is ripe but with a big hit of acidity keeping the wine very light on its feet. tobacco leaf and herbs dominate, but the fruit is delicious. long finish with some pepper. very good and could easily pass for CDP

I had a hard time understanding this wine, I found it a bit flat with a soft finish. I need far more acid/tannin finish to perceive a wine in balance. Restrained nose, not fruity in any way but not earthy either. A very peculiar wine variety and perhaps that explains its lack of popularity. I will taste my other bottle in a few years. I love to try new wines, not all them work out.

Bottle #3 of 3. Delicious, and just starting its peak. Raspberries and creamy, sensitively rendered and tasty vanillin oak. Great balancing and defining acidity, and an adequate finish. Excellent.

15.8% abv. Medium dark ruby, attractive, somewhat floral aromas. Very nice blue fruit with a pretty streak of red raspberry. Excellent depth and length. Should continue to improve through several years in the cellar.

Bottle #9 of 10. Mind bendingly good. Spicy, flashy, hugely red and purple fruited, creamy, great acidity, even some tannins, and supernally delicious. Yum with a capital Y. Disappeared with dinner guests. Right up there as far as great Carlisle Zins.

Previous reviewer nailed this. Black cherry and licorice, pepper. Great flavor profile, but not for the faint of heart. Require hearty food. Quite tasty. Drink now-2020.

P&P. Wow, this wine is hitting on all cylinders! While still young, it's showing very well...blackberry and black cherry fruit, earthiness and leather, with some barrel notes as well. Drinking well now, but will continue to evolve for 5-10 years. Drink 2016-2025.

Big, effusive, layered nose of sweet black fruit, smoked meat, camphor and pronounced spice. Palate is medium-to-full bodied with big black fruit and racy, juicy acidic cut. Terrific lift and persistence. The palate flavors are more straight forward than the exotic, enticing nose. I suspect this will get even better. Amazing for a <$20 appellation syrah! NIGHT 2 ADDENDUM: The aromatics are a bit more subdued but consistent in flavor profile. On the palate there is now more depth of flavor with the black fruit accented by spice, meat and asphalt. Still features lively energy and cut.

Finished off this bottle that I had previously coravined a glass from. Love the deep ruby color and savory, spicy notes coupled with blue fruit. This was my only bottle and I will make sure to get more than one (hopefully) next time it is offered.

An interesting white blend. Light yellow/gold in color. The nose has lemons, some fig and a bit of soap. On the palate, medium bodied. It is a round wine but enough acidity to carry the food. Lemony flavors. Not as mineral driven as I remembered a prior vintage but quite nice. Good finish.

Popped and poured and drank over two days. This is my first bottle but my experience with Carlisle leads me to believe that this wine has softened since release and is in the zone right now. The oak I associate with Carlisle has also integrated. The result is a pillow soft texture with sweet dark fruits, vanilla and zin spice. The wine is smooth and luxurious while retaining the signature Carlisle zin goodness.

One of the best bottles of Zinfandel I have tasted. Not overpowered by heat or fruit. Red fruit (cherry, raspberry), and some floral notes. Nice smooth finish. Drank over two nights - opened just a bit for the second night.

Not sure if I have an off bottle here ... nose of mixed red berries, pepper and alcohol. Palate offers up red berries with a thin, almost watery mouthfeel. Finish is short and tart and bitter. Just not up to normal Carlisle standards - is it the vintage?

15.6% abv. Deep ruby with exceptionally inticing aromas. Extremely concentrated red and blue fruit flavors, with rather, blood and spice. Lingers on the palate. Should improve for several more years. I'm so focused on Carlisle Zin that I sometimes overlook the exceptional Syrah.

I coravin poured half the bottle into a decanter to pair with my slow braised beef chili and it was a killer pairing. The wine opened up with the hour of air. Consumed the rest of the bottle over two nights a few days later. It was probably at its best on the last glass. Terrific wine at a great price. I would love to wait a couple years before opening some of our other bottles but it is so tasty now.
