A really fine wine. Nose of firecrackers, pipe tobacco, burnt meat, dark fruit quince, plums, white pepper, hints of anise. Wonderful velvety texture, deep tannins, well structured and balanced, and continues to unfold. I'm sure this has legs for aging, but it was a real treat out of the bottle. This one stopped me in my tracks...had me at hello.

A nice bottle; nothing spectacular, but a good aged Bordeaux. For approximately $30, well worth it.

On the first day this felt a bit woody and muddled compared to others I've tried. On the 2nd day, after vacuum-sealing, this is now more open and attractive. Light to medium-bodied, a bit savory, a slight bit of ash/smoke. The Graves elegance really comes through. Very good value - more class than one can really expect at <$20. 90+ pts.

Second bottle of this wine. Same notes as with the first one of 04-20-2015. At the second day a bit better, more open, with chocolate, nice fruit en floral notes. In the three-quarters of last just little improvement. To drink within a year, for being sure of its quality. 89-90.

Great nose of cigar box, plum, black cherry and currants, more of the same on the palate, medium/big body, atypical Graves to me, almost as good the second night, medium/long finish, lovely aftertaste.

This was my 3rd place wine in the Bordeaux tasting. It really stood its ground against a team of '05s. '08 is not supposed to be a great year, but with prices really down that year it makes a compelling buy none the less. The wine started out with tart fruit and strength in the tannin backbone, even with 2 hour decant. By the 3rd hour the tannin calmed and the fruit became more round and nose filling.

Opened this to see if this was as disappointing to me as of 3 months ago and this just shrieked bottle variation. Stunning bold viscous fruit, fat plums, dark brooding complex tannins, venison/game on the palate that had me overjoyed, meshed with graphite and lead pencil shavings with a mineral kick in the background.
This bottle was so solid it was as amazing as my last one was underwhelming.
Such is wine....

Fantastic! Deep red color, wonderful aroma, luscious fruit yet tannins that were alive. Good acidic balance to match. Overall a worthy effort and at <$40, an incredible QPR. Highly recommend this estate.

A very pleasant wine with aromas of red and black fruits. There was a certain stony and sous bois aroma to it too. Much better than the last experience with this wine. Must be drunk with food. With food, the fruits on the palate becomes defined and full. A good, well made and very nice casual wine.

Interesting that this bottle had a different character than the one drank in Oct. Full body, very dark deep purple black color with strong showing of right bank merlot and cab franc profile. Quite smooth, fresh but with restrained spice/acidity, dark fruit mix of black cherry, currants and blackberry with a much milder rose tone that is barely discernible compared to last bottle. Very nice but a bit deep and heavy so would do better pared with food. Mild tannins and long finish. I wonder what character the last bottle in the cellar will show.

BORDEAUX 2005 / Graves reds and whites tasted in 2006 (Bordeaux): First nose shows a hint of oak. Some lemon, more grapefruit. Palate is boisterous and fun, if a bit rustic. 87-89

The previous reviews on this wine confuse me as not sure we are drinking the same wine, our bottle had a beautiful nose with a bit of funk, the wine was medium bodied with good balance, the tannins gave it a slight edgy taste, good fruit, nice color, my wife and I like wines that are not fruit bombs with high alcohol content, maybe the low alcohol content of this wine has something to do with the mixed reviews , oh well, drank with steak and will definitely drink more of this wine as it is a great value.

At open, cassis, graphite, bright acidity, long tannic finish, somewhat unapproachable. After double decant and 4-6 hours open, still showing a lot of dark fruit, but with a bit of green pepper, mushroom and sawdust ( maybe very slightly corked?). Still long dusty tannic finish. I like the potential of this a lot...should develop nicely and built for long run. Not scoring due to possibility this was an off bottle.

Very nice. I am a fan of Pessac-Leognan, and this wine doesn't disappoint. It is young, but I would say it is open. There is still some improvement in the cellar that will come over the next few years. It is ready to drink now, will integrate more from a few years in the cellar, and should last at least another 10 years. I would say nice fruit, the nose maybe a little earthy, overall a smooth dry finish. This was a single bottle purchase and I will ad a few to my cellar based on this tasting.

Really interesting. Totally ready to drink, secondary characteristics galore. Not complex; however there's a little extra lift to the finish that makes you realize you're drinking something a cut above. Like: it had enough muscle to make it interesting when the fruit dies down, and it's got enough to extend the finish, too. Great experience for $25.

Cepages Bordeaux Tasting (North End Grill; New York City): Drank at Cepages bordeaux tasting. Ruby/garnet in color, shows very slight bricking. Fairly intense nose showing aromas of tobacco, leather & earth. Remnants of black fruit appear, but this wine is dominated by notes of tobacco, earth and perhaps some tar on the palate. Mostly at the tertiary level, very much on the rustic side with some very definite cab sauv characteristics, but became tiresome after awhile. This being the final red wine of a long eve of drinking stellar bordeaux, this wine didn't match its highly heralded competition. I'd drink this wine sooner than later.

on popping, vibrant red fruit that you can smell around 2 feet away from glass, tannin firm and tight
1.5 hours bottle breath, tannin completely soften giving secondary notes of smoke and chocolate, easily understood and very modern style
did not get further improvement with air, though persistently performed
drawback is hollow midpalate but you dont ask for that from a table wine do you?

Oh wow. You know, sometimes you pull a nice bottle out of the cellar, take it to a special occasion, and get sorely disappointed? This was the opposite. Was having a quiet dinner at home, and grabbed the 2000 Haut-Bergey because it was in its window and I hadn't had an aged bordeaux in a while. I was in no way expecting the excellence of this bottle. Notable for its earthy nose, smooth tannins, and dark restrained fruit; this wine punched way above its weight. A picture of balanced elegance. A good claret in its prime. Only needed about 30 mins in the decanter to show its stuff. Bravo. Great QPR.
