Great. Plenty of life left in this. Classic Lynch bages flavors. Opened nicely.

Decanted about 3-4 hours before tasting. What a lovely wine. It seems ridiculous to say this but I think this needs more time in the bottle. The color is bright and lively and dense, with only slight bricking. Nice complex nose of roasted root vegetables, leather, red fruits, and other lovely aromas. The palate is smooth, rich and complex – rounded red fruits (currants), plums, leather, pencil lead. The finish is pretty long, though there is a very slight tartness or bitterness. Still some strong tannins, suggesting this will last for the long haul. This just tastes young and even a bit closed to me. Notwithstanding, we finished the bottle in one night….. 94+

Cloudy pinkish color. Needs about an hour or two to open up, and when it does, it opens to soft fruit with pinkish hues and iron. Compact on the palate and doesn't really go long, but still enjoyable to drink.

Beautiful nose typical of 1996 Pauillac. Cassis, leather, tobacco, graphite, lead pencil. Dark rich ruby color, needed two hours in decanter to balance out its tannic and solid structure. Medium to full bodied, finishes long and sweet with well resolved tannins. Excellent.

Immediately recognizable as 1975 Lynch Bages; 'iron, earth and medicine box'; Love this nose. Color bit cloudy, orange and light. On the medium-bodied palate tones of medicine box, pronounced iron. But getting bit square and one-dimensional over age. Drink now or soon.

This way exceeded my expectations, as I've rarely been an LB blanc fan. Apple, grapefruit and lemon peel, with nice flavors and textural interest. I might have to give this wine another try or two.

Dark core, garnet rim; dusty, earthy, mushroom, stewed fruit, clay, green pepper, some funk, cigar, darker fruit; soft palate, dark fruit, blackberry, plum; very nice but lacking a little balance and some nobility, good now but I think it needs 5 more years; 93+.

Classic, leather, tobacco and a touch of meat on the nose, with green pepper becoming more obvious with air. Very nicely resolved but still basically youthful - not getting really mature complexity. A big wine, but sort of stately rather than powerful. Textbook claret and very good.

Pale red
Slight mineral on the nose, soft fruit, this is correct - but I would want a lot more for the name and the price

Union Des Grands Crus de Bordeaux San Francisco. Lovely nose of pepper, cherry fruit, and cedar, unfortunately not more of he same on the palate, medium to medium/big body, simple fruit and complexity, disappointing for Chateau Lynch-Bages, almost tasty but at $85 Retail forget it, medium finish.

89 vs 90 tasting. Gorgeous nose. A fruitbowl with fully saturated round flavors that go on and on. Beautifully integrated tannins. Liked this better than the 89.

89 vs 90 tasting. Very intense nose with a slight kerosene note although not too distracting. More structure and tannins than the 90 but not as expressive.

Decanted for about an hour. Excellent bottle of Bordeaux around its peak condition. The bottle had definitely not faded out as suggested by some earlier tasting notes. Very enjoyable right now! However, it will probably not improve by further cellaring.

Seriously, This is one of the finest examples of a well aged Bordeaux I've had. Bought as a future in 1983 and held in my cellar since. Great fleshy mouth feel. Nose of leather and violets. Perfectly resolved tannins. Huckle Berry fruit. Only very slight brick rimming. Good for many more years but I can't imagine it getting any better. The 1982 Mouton and the 1975 Haut Bages Liberal are the only two wines that I've had that come close.

I'm sorry to hear others had bottle variation. This wine was drunk over more than a year using Coravin with the last few sips today. I savoured every drop. It is fantastic. Much better than the 2005. What really distinguished this wine was the typicity. Pauillac notes of black fruits, iron, lead pencil, dark oak, soar from the glass. The palate has great depth and intensity with more dark fruit and oak. The structure and tannic finish are again characteristic of a young Pauillac and of 2006 along with the higher than usual acidity associated with this vintage. This wine is a joy to taste now and I suspect it will have a long future. It is a testament to the ability of the winemaker to transcend the vintage.

UGC 2016 (Chicago, IL): A very nicely balanced Lynch Bages here, but only in the context of the vintage. This is definitely a weak wine by the high standards of this estate. Red fruited and light, with nothing sticking out at all. Sort of a "keep your head down" kind of wine, but it does its job well.

1989/1990 Bordeaux Dinner (Feast & Imbibe - Evanston, IL): Medium ruby. Powerful and lifted aromatics with primary red fruit, smoke and cigar box. Palate is similarly driven and powerful with rich, primary red fruit and still-gritty tannin. Flavors are also more primary with fruit in the foreground and smoke, mineral and bell pepper lurking in the background. Enjoyable, but very young and seemingly in need of time.
