Decent sipper. Big fruit, showcasing plum and a hint of boysenberry, finishing with some licorice and also a touch of eucalyptus (the latter of which I associate more with South Aussie reds). Not the most complex wine on the planet, but pretty much what I'd expect at this price point.

See notes of 3/15/15... Reliably good Rhone blend from Languedoc, great value, drinking exceptionally well right now, though we got a lot more out of it by decanting.

Very surprising indeed considering ordinary nature of grenache! Nose is not great, but the finish on the pallate with hints of chocolate and plums. Alcohol level is unusually robust!!

The differences in the reviews of this wine are unusual. The bottles are labeled with a Robert Parker sticker that says "RP 93". I looked it up before purchasing and indeed the RP rating is 93 and very complimentary. The bottle that I drank was excellent, dark red, full bodied, floral aromas, rich fruit, nice tannins, but not astringent. Definitely a Rhone style fruit bomb. I am wondering if there is variation among bottlings of this wine that lead to the differing opinions? I will go along with the professional rating. And buy a few more bottles.

Rather astringent at first, softened quite a bit with air. Old world style. Nice fruit and minty notes with mouth coating finish. I liked it and it was well priced. Judging from other notes I think there might be some bottle variation here.

A rather reticent nose of blackberries, black pepper and smoke. On the palate, the wine turns up the volume to eleven. Concentrated red and blue fruits, supported by secondary flavors of pimentón and herbs coat every tastebud in a luscious envelope. Low acid and very fine tannins. The whopping 15% alcohol is completely unobtrusive. Perfect balance of fruit and spice. Delicious!

Nice density; dark brooding fruit; great with lamb chops and goes down easy considering it's stuffing. Threw a good amount of sediment.

Sat on this for 4 years and well worth the wait. Very well balanced. Agree with a previous review that it's strong enough to go with red meat, but can pair with something lighter as well. We were very pleased and will buy more.

still going strong. solid fruit, nicely integrated tannin, a bit of leather notes and a nice medium finish. will stand up to red meat, but delicate enough to work with lighter dishes.

Popped and poured. Nose is all black currant, red cherry and saddle leather. Interesting herbal flavors, such as sage and thyme. Integrated woodsy notes. Orange marmalade on the back end. Appears to be within its drinking window.

Two hours in gave blueberry jam, prunes and figs. More body and concentration. Good things.

Great nose - very mineral with some toasty notes. The palate has ripe, plush fruit, minerality and the finish has massive amounts of roasted coffee beans with a touch of chocolate. The alcohol is also a touch noticeable - hardly surprising given it comes in at 15.5. Overall this is a bit of a blockbuster but the backbone of minerality saves it. 89-90

What happened Eric Solomon?
This is the first value wine I've had that did not live up to the reputation of his portfolio. This wine is highly extracted, out of balance and not really pleasant to drink.
These bottles taste nothing like Jeb Dunnuck's reveiw.
based on 4 bottles tasted, 4 different occassions.

Seems like a wine made from very ripe fruit, heavily extracted. I'm at the middle of a case opened and tasted periodically over the past 3 years. At this point, the wine appears to be in a state of significant transition where it is fairly rapidly depositing or polymerizing it's ripe and dusty, bordering on dirty, tannins. I too find a lack of sufficient acidity to balance this wine and potentially carry it through to the resolution of these significant tannins. Fruit is there but muted, round and bordering on overripe. We shall see. For now, I am less optimistic than at the point 2 years ago when I bought up numerous bottles of the 2010 vintage. Hopefully this will clarify into a sublime bottling given a decant off the sediment, but certainly not now.

Nice value. The wine needs some air, my final glass was at 2 hours and it was improving steadily up to that point. A Languedoc wine done in a Rhone style blend, if you like Rhone blends this will check all the boxes for you. It is a well done wine that is retailing at $15 inc. tax at my local Costco. I will add a few more bottles to my collection.

Hugely aromatic nose of ripe blackberry fruit, toasted herbs, smoke and melted dark chocolate. Concentrated and ripe on the palate with delicious sweet and jammy blackberry. Good fresh and lively acidity provides lift and freshness. Medium finish. This is a big, concentrated wine with sufficient freshness and structure. Not all that complex. Reminds me of Paso. Delicious and certainly ready to enjoy now.

Opened on the recommendation of a member here. This wine has a great nose and a predominate round muted fruit palate. The acid and tannins are overshadowed by the fruit. I let this breathe for about an hour and drank it over two hours or so. Once the wine presented as written above, it stayed there. This has Phillipe Cambie's fingerprints all over it. That is not bad not good, but it is his statement. New world, not too complex, pleasing many, exciting few. I have a few more that I will open sooner than later because I don't see long(er) term in this bottle. Having something like bolognese? Open this, the acid in the tomatoes makes up for that missing characteristic here.
