Perhaps not for everyone but I quite appreciated the divergence from the typical Napa cab and gave me a look at a different, uniquely compelling approach. It has some flaws but worth seeking out to provide a reference point compared to other, more mainstream producers. Candidly, I enjoyed it for what it wanted to bring to the conversation. |

After 3 hours, it started to blossom especially with rack of lamb and a wonderful berry spice shows up to accompany the succulent acidity and beautiful black currant/cassis fruit. There's also a gritty Rutherford dust note which gives this wine excellent vigor. The finish is lean and stylish with a taut, mineral intensity. Interestingly, the '13 Kronos is more open than this wine. Trusting as I do in Cathy, I'll let this one sit for 5+ more years to reach peak. 93+ 3 people found this helpful, do you? Emerging tertiary tones are well integrated. Drunk over 4 hours with modest improvement over that time. Drink with food or hold to drink with food. Skeptical about the long term (2035-??) however. |
