This really has it all. Gorgeous nose that's the essence of Burgundy. A cornucopia of fruit delivered perfectly. These good 07 GC's are quite good young, and I suspect will be great over time. Bravo.

Nice whiff of barnyard. Big dark fruit. Sweet and lush. Fine acidity. A bit of wood but not obtrusive. Like the hare this sprinted out of the gate but went to sleep halfway through the night.

VERTICALE CSJ FOURRIER VS.

Bodacious Bootylicious Burgundies for a Birthday Boy (Patina DTLA): The palate was fresher than a kid from Philly who got in trouble on the bball court and was forced to live with his aunty and uncle in bel air. Full of zest and minerality, everything was just popping on the tongue. Needed about 30 minutes to settle down as it was a bit spritzy. But man this palate was so fresh and crunchy with bright bright fruit and just a touch of meatiness. Started to shut down after 2 hours, but those initial 2 hours were mmmm yoso

The 90 La Tache dinner also 05 Coche CC, 88 Krug and 01 Rousseau CSJ (Decanter restaurant, St. Regis): Very youthful slightly masculine expression which is quite different from the 01 Rousseau Chambertin which was mostly tertiary and subtle. Most black fruit driven, strong note of spearmint, damp forest floor, Asian medicine, mushroom and earth. Excellent concentration, earth black fruit driven palate impression, bright acidity, nicely integrated tannins and long finish. This particular bottle is very youthful and will require another five to ten years of cellaring to reach the peak which is quite surprisingly in lieu of how well the Chambertin was drinking recently. Nevertheless very enjoyable.

Stunning.

Starts off with a wierd mix of matchsticks and barnyard. Gone after 10 minutes of decanting. Opens beautifully with a cool and precise fruit. Dark spices underlying throughout. Velvet and fresh. Tannins give a good structure while staying smooth as puppy fur.

Best village experience ever!

Dark color. Beautiful nose of dark cherries, sweet earth and iron minerals. Drunk out of magnum and decanted two hours, the wine kept opening and improving and it was ultimately a stunning example of Chambertin especially considering the vintage. Very authentic, masculine style with flavors of black cherry and those iron minerals. It has a firm backbone and remains quite structured but there is plenty of delicious fruit which leads to a complex finish with notes of medicinal cherries, sweet earth and real mineral crunch. A fabulous showing.

What a monster wine. We were having a Volnay 2007 and this one came; we had to stop and reset, there was no coming back. Extreme complexity on the nose and taste, you can sense the multi layers that change with your food, the resting time and the way you get used to it. Loved it even though it's such a young wine, I would wait a few years for it.

(Mostly) Oregon Dinner at Cherry Circle Room (Chicago, IL): Funny. Had this a year ago. My notes read almost exactly the same as last year. This wine simply has no nose. It's dumb and totally muted. There are some nice red fruit notes on the palate, as well as soft and velvety tannins... and not much else. I retasted this a few hours later to the same results. This wine is shut down hard. Will it ever awake? Who knows...

Lovely red and black fruit along with spice and a distinct herbal note. Many felt the herbs were offputting as with many 2004s, but for me they added a layer of interest to this wine. Nice finish with fine grip.

This started out with the nose of the night with candied red fruit, spice and some blue fruit notes with subtle truffle and earth. The palate was more linear than the 2002 but the vibrancy and primary nature of the fruit was really delicious. After a few hours this seemed more simple compared to the 02 and 96, but still tasty.

Quite a stern nose of meat, mushroom, iron and touch of red fruit and spice. After several hours more rose petal notes emerged, but the beefiness was dominant. Sturdy and a bit rugged on the palate. Seems like it needs more time to sort itself out but interesting nonetheless.

Mushroom, earth and meaty red and black fruit on the nose. The mushroom notes subsided over time to yield more dried roses and spice. This changed continuously over 4 hours and was fascinating. More power without weight. Nice grip on the finish.

Pure, airey and graceful nose of red fruit, dried roses, truffles and some earth. Classic power without weight on the palate. Reserved at first, but kept building over the 4 hours we drank it. Long finish with verve and spice.
