In the bouquet ripe red fruits and youthful lactic impressions. On the palate firm and tight cherries, sweetness, acidity, soft and sticky tannin and bitterness. In this stage the wine is still too young or in a dumb phase. Probably wise to wait until 2015 at least. Can last until into the 2020's.

Popped, breathed in bottle two hours, consumed over next two. This bottle performed like a champ, with wonderful aromatics and the show continued on the palate, singing from the first sips, evolving in the glass and offering up a finely knit tapestry of ever-changing nuance. Lovely balance, translucent ruby/garnet, wonderful intensity and an elegant, lengthy and expanding finish.

Excellent wine. High complexity, ruby red, pepper, leather, long lasting aftertaste. Bouquet is deep, the taste afterwards doesn't disappoint. Fully recommend this CdP.

Tasting in Châteauneuf-du-Pape; 2/5/2015-2/7/2015 (Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Southern Rhône, France): A little hot, with raisin, white pepper, and spice. Red fruit dominates the body, with some secondary vegetal notes. Tons of acidity and chewy tannins to finish.

Tasting in Châteauneuf-du-Pape; 2/5/2015-2/7/2015 (Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Southern Rhône, France): Smoky and spicy, with mushroom and dark black fruit. So elegant, soft, and round on the palate, with soft, but still grippy, tannin and exceptional balance. Chocolate and white pepper. Riper vintage, but coming together very nicely and showing really well!

Tasting in Châteauneuf-du-Pape; 2/5/2015-2/7/2015 (Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Southern Rhône, France): Tasted two separate bottles; the first was freshly opened: very elegant, with brooding dark fruit and spice. Rich dark fruit, spice, and a little bitter dark chocolate on the palate. Finishes with fine tannins and balanced acidity.

The second bottle had been open for 1 week already: more savory, spicy fruit, but still that same elegance as the fresh bottle. Similar notes on the palate as above, but just a bit more expressive.

A bit more fruit forward on the body, with black raspberries and spice, leading into a finish of fine tannin and balanced acidity. This has a nice freshness and is very approachable now.

On par with (perhaps slightly preferred over) the janasse normal cuvée (also 2011) drank alongside. Seemed more polished and round. I found this to be very approachable and yummy! Was not looking for complexity per se. first Charvin tasted and had expected less opulence.

Lush and a bit soft on the acid with sweet red fruit and spice flavors. My wife loved it. I'd like a bit more acid but all in all still very balanced and friendly. I double decanted for an hour before dinner but didn't really seem necessary. Still relatively primary at this stage. Alc 15% but no detectable heat just a bit of girth to support. Not sure this has the structure to age for a longtime but Ill wait at least 3yrs for my next one to see. 4 left. I went a little crazy and bought 6 on release. Wish I had settled for three. Paid $62.

2011 is a really accessible vintage, great for drinking while the 2010's slumber. This has a lot of raspberry fruit but not over the top in any way. Good effort all around.

Ripple and Ridonculous Wines (Ripple - Cleveland Park - Washington, DC): Complex red currant fruit mixed in with olive brine, pepper and brothy notes. Bright and spicy palate, fine/dusty tannins, still doing well in terms of structure. Lots of complexity in here in addition to the delicious tart red fruit: moss, pickle, smoke, olives, leather. Great showing from a magnum, this bottle had plenty of time ahead.

One of my first Garagiste purchases, back when I thought I liked CdP. So with that bias in mind, my note may or may not be helpful to you...
Nose: some dirty muck, some red fruit, but no obvious barnyard (which I dislike in my wine). A little graham cracker? Plus the savory element unmistakable in the region.
Palate: a little sharp, the alcohol is pointed and overshadows much of the entry. I find the acid and the tannin sparring. Short finish. I'm not going to rate this, as I don't like CdP hardly at all, but for my own catalog I'd give this an 80.

Dark fruit, quite a wild character on the nose: garrigue, spice, really quite intense. Fine grained tannins, but very pronounced. Bit of a hot finish. This definitely needs some time to come around but has bags of potential.

Slow-ox'd 4 hrs, decanted 3 hrs, tasted over 1 hr, Wilson School tasting
-med dark red no bricking
-expressive pure red fruit grenache
-med/med- acidity, med/med+ weight with lot of depth on sappy mid-palate with pure grenache red fruit profile perhaps a touch of spiciness, mild heat on long-ish finish
-drinking very well now in early maturity, very approachable and less heat than many '07 southern Rhones recently tasted (perhaps some '07 CdPs still have some hope), clearly more elegant and fruit-driven than '07 Pegau tasted side-by-side

Boy did this wine surprise to the upside. It opened dull and slightly flat. However, with 30 minutes of air it seemed as though a light went off. The palate broadened and sweetened. Not as complex as the Pegau but showed lovely purity. Fantastic. (93)

-mostly opaque vibrant dark red with slight bricking
-moderately expressive perfumed melange of faint but sweet black fruit kirsch and mature elements
-med acidity, med weight with impressive depth on somewhat simple mid-palate comprised of some black fruit and bitter soil tones, rather abundant chalky tannins
-mature CdR drinking well now, don't anticipate positive development despite some residual tannic structure
