Pop and pour, this took about an hour to really come together and then it just kept getting better. Ruby in color. The nose has raspberries, cherries, spice and floral tones. Great texture. I often compare older Saxum's to Ali, then this is Sugar Ray Leonard at its finest. Medium weight, dances with grace and yet has great power. Complex. delicious. Yet, this is still youthful. If you have a bunch, sure drink some. If just a lone bottle, I would wait 3 to 5 but that's just being safe. This will go much longer. Great wine.

Chateauneuf du Pape (Bronte, Sydney): lovely ripe blueberry and spice fragrance. Nicely balanced, pure red berry and plenty of spice. Lots of mouth-coating tannins.

Dark inky hue, dark berry and slate/limestone nose, sweet berry fruit, smooth and mellow, enjoyed with and without food. Easy drinking wine that is likely to get better with time.

CHABLIS28's bottle, so read his treatment. A small glass at the beginning of the tasting and then another small glass about an hour later. This was even lighter than I was anticipating, knowing full-well that Charvin is a lighter style. Good minerality, a bit of funk, forest floor and earth stood out the most.

Rhone Tasting: Elegant and floral with sweet cherries and roses on the nose. Silky but still firm tannins, lots of plums and red cherries. Smooth but still powerful with notes of herbs, black pepper, red pepper, earth. Tasted blind, I guessed this as an 09, it was that well-structured and seemingly young. Impressive to see how well this is doing (given proper storage, of course). Charvin’s Le Poutets can age!

Rhone Tasting: Corked, damnit! Still too young I’m sure, but the cork taint struck this beauty down. Pour one out for those slain by the cork taint.

My btl and in agreement with R&R's assessment. At 10yrs I was hoping it would have evolved a bit more. Decanted for a solid 2 hours and then back into btl. Left open to breath about an hour prior to drinking. Definitely serve this coolish with its typical CDP higher ALC.

Best Burger Event, Monthly Tasting Group (Jason and Tracy's, Mpls, MN): More of a classicist in every way, but showing some ripeness, though really not over the top, darker fruit than some vintages, medium plus body, spicy, some herb de provence, some heat shows. Could use some time, in the in between phase. I expect ti see this emerge in 3 years or so to a more elegant style.

Quite primary at this stage - raspberry on the nose and palate. White pepper finish with a little bitterness when consumed with food.

A pretty good Charvin from a great vintage. Enormous depth and a few years in the bottle has helped pull the components together. Bright Grenache flavours, charry oak with dried herbs and cured meat. Pretty full flavour profile but has good balance overall.

Light red. Whereas a bottle last year had the typical Charvin red fruit to buffer the tobacco and licorice, this bottle was all of those non-fruit savory elements. Elegant but probably drying and on the downhill slide.

Not very expressive nose. Maybe closed. Chocolate, licorice and herbs. Nice palate with a lot of alcolhol. I am not impressed.

Awesome wine. Raspberries, cherries and lavender. In nose almost floral. Although heavy in alcohol a very balanced wine. Complex and elegant. Silky tannins, thyme, fruity, stones - a touch of musk.

Young and spicy. In my memory I liked the wine more two years ago. At this stage it's fruity but also sharp on the finish because of the high alcohol. Not very balanced at the moment.

Popped and poured and drank over two nights. I am completely on board with Jeff's flavor descriptors. This wine showed well on both nights but better on night two suggesting this one will age for another 10 years easily. This one had a lightness you don't awesome find in CdP. Impeccable balance and smoothness. Light cherry profile. Very enjoyable.

Magnificent showing tonight, and it actually beat Rayas of the same year; rich, broad, yet focused with loads of sweet grenache, garrigue and an elegant lightness and minerality. One of the very best wines from this great vintage, I have tasted yet. This will live on, but is ready to drink. (/with PB)

Much too young (wasn't my bottle); very rich and concentrated with a consistent and powerful note of kirsch, garrigue backed by tannins galore. This will be great in ten years, I am sure, for now: wait. (With PD og JMH)

No cork seepage, perfect condition.
Fresh strawberry, sage. Over time, a touch of horse manure starts to emanate, not unpleasant.
Flavours are well wrapped in a structured and refreshing finish, which should only start to be in its drinking window (as other TNs have mentionned). Still has a bit of grip to shake off in order to be better.Tasted best in flared burgundy glasses.

Drink or hold to 2030 easily.

Camphor and a touch of lemon on the nose. On the palate, sweet cherry, raspberry, a little bandaid, and notes of white pepper and savory herbs, with moderate acidity. This offers finesse rather than power, and although I don't have a problem with that I would prefer more complexity. Average or slightly below average value for the money at a bit under $50.

Ripe red berries and floral on the nose. Medium bodied, medium acid, with mild tannins. A pronounced fresh strawberry juice quality on the palate. A simple, go to, everyday drinking Rhone.
