Didn't take notes - paired very well with grilled Salmon. 92+ Wines like this make me remember why I love CDPs - great fruit, nice acidity, complexity & long finish.

Starting to really roll. Another 10 years and this will be awesome.

Slightly dark nose with hints of cocoa nibs. You can sense the dryness right away. Dark cherry and a bit of prune.

Pallate is graphite, crushed rocks, forest floor, and an almost chalky finish. Fruit is well balanced agains the tannins, which are on the sweet side. Dark cherry, a bit of cocoa, strong acidic backbone. This is going to last another 5-15 years, easy, as the tannins are not quite fully rounded. They should carry well. Medium body mouthfeel.

One critique is that it's a little hot, but that blows off in 30 minutes or so.

PopnPour, tasted over 3 hrs
-nearly opaque dark maroon with purple no bricking
-somewhat shy black fruits licorice tar kirsch
-initially med- acidity builds up after 2 hrs to med, med+ concentration delivers authoritative tightly wound black fruits and licorice of average complexity that slowly unfurls over 3 hrs, med+ tannins with decent length
-this bottle a bit closed down now and more somber than a bottle a few months ago, needs some air or 2-3 more years in bottle

Nose - blueberry, chocolate
Mouth - very ripe dark berry, high alcohol noted on the heated finish. Initially juicy & enjoyable, but after time seeing this as being more Disjointed and actually hard to drink.

Dark ruby color. Fragrant nose. Plenty of red and dark fruit, slightly tart, and quite tannic. Had the typical Charvin elegance. The wine seemed quite young and needs more time to reach its potential.

Picked right from the cellar, spontaneus; this needs air, i thin. In the beginning very tight, very European, quite dry and withdrawn, the last glass much more neuf, more Grenache, more sweetness. Still quite primary. With PB chez moi.

An awesome bottle! Strong nose and powerful palate with red berry fruit, spice garrigue, a little bit of licorice, a little bit of tobacco, and a nice stony minerality. One taster suggested some banana flavors and I could not disagree - there is something in the profile that reminded me of that. Very long finish.

Lighter in color and content than many a CnP. Nevertheless, it had excellent brambly Grenache fruit on entry, followed by an even middle, and finished on a rich, sweet tone.

muted nose but on the palate this has lots of appeal-- balanced and in a good place now. Not certain this will evolve well past a few years given the lack of acidity.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape session (Extra Space): Tasted blind. My own bottle. Pop and poured. Drank over 2 hours.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose medium+ intensity, with a touch of brett, and aromas of earth, garrigue, animal, licorice, spice, dark red cherries, sweet herbs with more air. Developed.
On the palate, dry, vibrant high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14.5%), smooth rounded high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of earth, garrigue, animal, licorice, spice, ripe dark red cherries, cranberry, Provencal herbs. Long finish.
Outstanding quality. Very complex and complete. This is what aged CDP should aspire towards. Just edged out the 1998 Clos des Papes CDP by a bit. Enjoy now, and over the next 3-4 years.
85% Grenache, 5% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre and 5% Vaccarèse.
The average age of the vines are 60 years.
No destalking of the grapes. Maceration period 15-20 days.
Foudres or barrels are not used. Vinification and ageing in traditional cement vats.

Annual CDP tasting (Edina Country Club): Decanted 1 hour, needed a longer decant or ideally more cellar time. I felt it was in about the same place as the 2005 Charvin that was only slow-o'd. The palate is quite bold right now.

Annual CDP tasting (Edina Country Club): 3 hour slow O, really it needed a decant or save for 5+ years. A pretty wine to drink today, quite youthful, just starting to take on secondary flavors.

Annual CDP tasting (Edina Country Club): 30 minute decant, drank a glass over about an hour. This drank younger than I expected. I think a 1 or 2 hour decant would have been better. Lighter-bodied, more Burgundy than CDP, nice red fruit, cherry, raspberry. Tannins were more present than anticipated.

Annual Holiday CDP Tasting (Edina, MN): Very dark red color. Decanted for an hour plus at the table, drank 1 glass over 90 minutes. This needed the air, but did show its pedigree pretty well over time. A nice mix of anise, blue and darker red fruits, young, quite intense on the palate, coiled nose. 92+ to 93pts currently. Hold.

Annual Holiday CDP Tasting (Edina, MN): Dark red color. Splash decant; drank 1 glass over 2 hours. Looking back on my last notes from this wine, it seems to be following along slowly. I love the purity of the strawberry notes of the nose and palate, really lovely. Very primary fruit, though it strikes me as more red now than the last time I had it, good acidity, the tannins are already pretty sleek, youthful, but pretty integrated today. Fun to drink now, but another gem in the making. 92+ to 93pts

Annual Holiday CDP Tasting (Edina, MN): Dark red color. Decanted for 30 minutes; drank 1 glass over 3 hours. This was the other wine tonight that I was looking forward to more than any of the others. I've had it rock and be very good. Tonight was very good, but not a rock your world experience, Lovely cedarbox nose upfront, sour cherry, muted nose, tightly coiled, opens more over 90 minutes, some perfume comes forth, a bit of leather. The palate is medium bodied, briary, oak, bright raspberry, some cassis, spicy finish. This was pretty tightly coiled and just willing to really unwind it what I think it ultimately it will be. 92+ to 93pts.

2015 CDP Annual Dinner (Edina Country Club): Open and decanted for 3 hours. Nose is all about the spiced cherry fruit. All primary. Jetting soaring, with a huge spike of heat permeating the long finish. This is just way too young.

2015 CDP Annual Dinner (Edina Country Club): Open 4 hours. Youthfully dark. Black cherry and wild blackberry aromas. Very well integrated. Pretty yin/ yang with incredible depth. A block of fruit, with charred roasted meat, some fruitcake, and a very long finish.
