Expressive aromatics of white peach and floral spice. It is cool, direct and nervy. The peach flavours are crisp and there's plenty of mineral and great finesse.

Tight, direct and linear. The fruit is of the citrus persuasion and it has a steely, mineral backbone. It is compact and flavours so chiseled.

Domaine Didier Larue, Saint-Aubin Blanc 1er Cru, Vieilles Vignes 2013: In a time where the wines of neighbours Puligny and Chassagne are reaching eye-watering prices, the village of Saint-Aubin, with its rocky, limestone-laden soils and great exposure, seems like the obvious choice for sourcing minerally whites with a racy acidity. Brothers Didier and Denis Larue (recently joined by Denis’s son Bruno) have run this 15-ha family Domaine since 1985 and their vineyards are located not only in the best premier crus Saint-Aubin but also in Puligny and Chassagne. The wines are unapologetically mineral, dry and precise, like all great white Burgundies and most have serious ageing potential but can also deliver immense pleasure when drunk young. The ‘Vieilles Vignes’ is Chardonnay from 80 year-old vines. The grapes are transported in small skips from the vineyards, crushed, and put through a pneumatic press. Solids are separated out and the must is run off into oak barrels (1/4 of them new) for alcoholic fermentation. Maturation on lees lasts 10-12 months with occasional stirring. Then the wine is finally racked off and bottling takes place in the cellar. A clear light-golden in colour. A complex, buttery nose suggesting hazelnut and peach. On the palate, dry, mid-weight with a lovely mouthfeel and a soft, juicy acidity. The finish is fairly short but intense with notes of lemons and limes. Try with roast fillet of veal with Dublin Bay Prawns, lobster and chicken fricassee with spring vegetables or wild duck served with a quince puree.

Had by the glass as part of the pairings with the degustation menu at Lameloise, so that probably put me in a favorable frame of mind! Also, did not take detailed tasting notes. that said, enjoyed it very much!

Decanted at the table. Beautifully balanced wine; hitting its stride much more than the bottle last year. More savory than the '08 Argyle Nuthouse Reserve. Long finish. Paired with lamb chops, veal meatballs, and other Greek fare from Kyma.

Deep raspberry fruit, some gravel, and a bit of topsoil in the flavors. Pure raspberry compote aromas. I liked this a lot, and it seems to be in a good place at the moment.

Med gold colour; relatively low key nose, some warm spice and a hint of orchard fruits shot through with minerals; good flavour on the palate, quite broad and rich styled. A little hollow on the back palate, serviceable but little league.

A taste of Burgundy (Winegate): The nose is clean, medium intensity, very subtle underlying complexity, fruity, ripe peach, subtle oak presence, hazelnut, youthful.
The wine is dry, medium body and intensity, medium alcohol and acidity, the wine is balanced, subtle, sweet, nutty, hazelnut, lime and juicy lemon, med finish.
Very good quality, drinking now but will hold.

Good color. This is a touch oaky on the nose, but shows honey, flowers, pineapple and citrus with hints of mineral. This is medium full bodied on the palate, with good concentration and good richness. A touch fat even. Nice finesse for this vineyard. The medium plus length finish shows a touch of heat and just enough acidity.

Pale lemon in colour, Chalky lemon nose, some grapefruit and greengage and slightly herbal and cereal (oats). Much more generous on the palate, full-on lemon curd and white peach, great creamy texture and surprisingly weighty, tempered with a steely acidic bite. The finish is once again chalky, earthy and lingers, brilliant balance and intensity ****1/2

MASTER BORGOGNA AIS; 10/15/2013-6/28/2014 (HOTEL WESTIN PALACE MILANO): 20% legno nuovo
Naso di spuma di mare, iodio e conchiglie sbriciolate adagiate su un tappeto di zucchero filato.
Naso molto fine, quasi pungente e cristallino.
In bocca entra cremoso, molto sapido e salmastro, bella verticalità e lunghezza. Piaciuto assai.
Vino notturno, etereo, senza peso.. quasi fluttuante

MASTER BORGOGNA AIS; 10/15/2013-6/28/2014 (HOTEL WESTIN PALACE MILANO): 20% legno nuovo.
