Much more fruit forward than I expected. Closed at first, then serious black cherry flavored. Good acidity and backbone. Delicious!

While drinkable I will wait another 3 years to let the tannins soften. Lots of smoke, earth and dark berry flavors with good minerality. I think it will likely merit a higher score in a few years. 93+

This is very good, but I can not understand where I found 94p seven years ago. This is not 94p but it is a very solid village. Well concentrated and stearing to mature.

Very easy to appreciate on the nose, while the palate needs 1-2 more years. Not overly complex, but this is a lot better than your average red burgundy. Maybe this could reach 93 pts in with a few more years of cellaring.

Dinner at Shelter in the Woods. This was actually my wine of the night. Pale red, and it seemed to have a slightest hint of bricking at the rim. Good nose of spice, violets, currants and strawberries. I've had some really extracted wines from PM before, but this was something made a little more "old fashioned" and I enjoyed it. Good tension on the palate, with lots of red fruits, woodspice, minerals and a good clean and long finish. Lovely tannins as well and certainly approachable now.

Light ruby, translucent. Expressive and pretty nose of red fruit, spices, strawberry, minerals. Light bodied on the palate, fresh, but almost a bit too sweet for a Burg. Elegant and light - Musigny style. Good but a bit harmless.

New oak and lots of fruit. Coffee, tobacco, strawberries, cherries, plums and cranberries. Leaning more towards the sweet oak rather than the spicy oak that I tend to like more.

Dry, Medium+ acidity, medium tannins, medium body, medium+ intensity and a long finish.

Feels very modern and not at all what I love with Burgundy. Much rather pay half the price and buy Australian or Californian Pinot.

For me showing clinically dead, but after two days there was some remaining life in the wine with a certain chambolle style. Absolutely not impressive; hope to retaste this wine once.

I opened this for lunch and found it in a semi-dormant state. It had a soft, compliant texture and was nicely layered with spicy notes but not much fruit to speak of. Not a particularly expressive bottle so I don't think I'll open another for several years.

We bought a case at an auction with some friends. I got two bottles cellared in the same place. I opened both bottles with one month gap.
First bottle was splendid: a lot of development (earthy, meaty, gamy) but still with a lot of fruits (red berries) on both the nose and palate. Also really floral on the nose (violets). And really well structured (high acidity with medium+ tannin but really smooth) and such a long finish. 95. It was splendid. Long time I hadn't drank such a great burgundy.
Second bottle has only the good structure. Little fruits, no more flowers. Still the same structure but developement characteristics loook more astringent. 87

Wines at Mike's: My Burgundy had a nose of dark plums, dark raspberries, liquorice and a little vanillin oak. Deep, rich and dark fruited on palate. Nuances of liquorice and tar with hints of iron and rust. The oak is still apparent, but, to my palate, is in proportion. There is serious architecture but the wine is elegant and refined, even with some lightness. 'An attractive, underripe quality' said Rauno. Finishing the bottle the next day, the Mazoyères was drinking well, the acidity more apparent but the oak more seamlessly integrated. Drink or hold for the medium term only, I'd think.

Serious wine, ripe in the nose and in the taste, smooth and with a body and a good balance. The 'but' is, that the wine missed some complexity. I have to admit however it is only an appellation 'village'. Enjoy this wine now as fruit combines with ripeness.

On the nose, some high toned fruit of cherries and black cherries, slatey minerals, and only a little bit of damp earth. Initially sour cherry and more dark earth and funk/barnyard on the nose but blew off and turned into more elegant Chambolle perfume of ripe red cherries, drying cranberries, and some spice including cinnamon. More of all of the above on palate with nice soily minerals in addition the the developed cherry fruit. Some spicy coffee grounds present as well.

Whoa. The first P-M I've had where the oak has successfully been digested. This shows serious class - deep red fruit, a texture that's melted into pure silk - with a truffled note and a hint of forest floor. A stop-in-your-tracks pinot. Perhaps the tiniest bit hollow in the midpalate - it's CdO, after all, and not Moose - but in every other respect this is exactly what you'd want in a burg. Remarkably, doesn't really show much oak, and has a nice, long, minerally finish, buoyed by some '96 acid. Who'dathunk?

Heavy aromas of kirsch like dense fruit, vanilla, almost overoaked at this stage. Very intense, soft tannins, almost too opulent after a 2002 Grivot Beaux Monts. Very savoury, rich, meaty style. Long finish. Needs time to develop a broader complexity. A lot of wine at this stage but one that surely will change over time! 91-92p

Significantly less evolved than the last bottle I had. Overripe on both nose and palate. And I'm not sure where all of this wood will go but there is not sufficient substance to absorb it. May mellow with time but difficult to see how this will fundamentally improve.

Good thanksgiving pairing.
Not as impressive as the '02 Rion Gevrey served along w it but still going strong.
Agree w the ripe somewhat tannin free experience. Bright fruit w at least a hint of the fundamental Burgundian barnyard nose.
Short well balanced end game where the mineral-ity revealed clay more than limestone if that's even possible. Gumby more than the hulk.

Clear, pale intensity, ruby color.

Clean, youthful, refined and polished nose. Medium(+) intensity with truckloads of Pinosity and aromas of strawberry, lingonberry, cranberry, expensive oak, baking spice, nutmeg, violets and raw meat.

Medium bodied with a medium(+) acidity and firm, medium tannins. The wine feels polished and silky on the palate. It shows loads of ripe red fruit, new oak, fine vanilla bean and baking spice. The finish is long and juicy.

This is pumped with fruit but manages to not get over the top. Still too young today and needs a decent amount of cellaring to come together.

Good, not great. A bit muddled, rich, black raspberry puree, a touch of oak, no real focus, a bit new world. That being said, this was pretty tasty, smooth, and pleasurable. A bit big with my slow cooked salmon at Kandall's.

Deep red color. Aromas of black fruits, candied violets and a touch of prune liqueur. Ripe, full-bodied fruit in the mouth with excellent depth and length and fully-integrated oak and tannins. Very silky and full on the palate. New World in style with a Burgundian sensibility. At peak.
