Decanted off sediment and served immediately. Sweet red cherries, lots of mushroom and sous-bois character, some earth and beef blood. High acidity at first but the fruit unfurls with air. Complete and long but not super-concentrated, with unresolved tannins remaing that are just a touch rustic but not drying and that smooth out with food. Not especially powerful, more elegant and staley in character everything is nicely integrated. No reason to wait here, this is a lovely aged Burgundy.

Much higher, and appropriate fill than first bottle of the case. This was very nice out of the bottle, but after 30 minutes was even better. After about and hour it started to show just a touch of bite on the finish, but overall this is drinking very well and showing off it's ripe red fruits along with some secondaries. Very nice wine. Fill 3/4 inch below foil. Cork soaked 1/2-3/4 way up. Still had that slight corky smell (not corked) when pulled, but it blew off quickly. Some maturity in the color. Not bad at all, and less disjointed, out of the bottle than previous bottles from this case. After an hour this was in great shape, drinking really well. Showing more of that ripe fruit and smooth, integrated, balanced finish I remember from my last first case. This was the first bottle from the new case showing more of what I expect of this wine. Hope the rest deliver. A-/A

Something was off here. Very meaty and thick on the palate. Over time, it became a little more muddled. Wonder if improper storage was an issue here.

Beautiful nose. Low acid and very round and smooth - just a touch of tannins. This is drinking great now. The more elegant side of NSG.

Best nose of the bunch. Strong acidity up front. Fruit, earth and funk on the nose and palate. There's just something extra here. A perfect balance of elegance and power.

The third of a lot of three 1990 and 1991 Chevilons, each of which has been mysteriously mediocre despite immaculate bottles and corks. This is no different; it's a fine, sturdy, red fruited and spicy burg, but it's completely anonymous. Fine wine, but it's not remotely what it should be. Oddly youthful. Unbranded cork. Hmm.

This needs at least 48 hours of air, preferably more, as this wine improves for every day that passes. Good QPR for a red burgundy. Chevillon rocks.

Fill 1 5/8 below foil. Cork was dry but came out in one piece. Run up to about 1/4 inch short of the top but nothing beyond. This had a "corky" element to it when the squeaky cork came out, but that blew off over time (previous bottle was actually corked). Some maturity in the color. Wine was a little astringent and acidic at the decant, but after an hour it was in good shape. This was mature, showing ripe fruit, and was pleasant with dinner. But based on the first couple of bottles from this case it does not have the glory of my first lot. A-/?

A pretty light red color. Not much to report on the nose. The wine is easy to drink, with light red fruit. It is not that complex, but still has some tannic backbone. While I thoroughly enjoyed it, it is not worth the price.

90 minutes of slow ox took this wine from tight and volatile, to aromatic and velvety. Red fruit, floral, leather, subtle spice and earth all worked together in a seamless whole. Served with roasted duck breast it was a masterpiece of wine and food pairing. I would gladly drink this now and over the next decade plus. It is just beautiful.

Very good wine but clearly too young. Prominent tannins and fruit battling for room. I think they need a couple of years to become friends, I guess. Right now this is a wine with a very good potential but not open and ready for business quite yet. Drink 2017 and later.

Clear light red colour. Elegant nose with strawberries, some orange zest, a hint of stalky notes (i.e., a tiny bit green, but in a pleasant way), some spice, well handled oak, some flowery notes. Medium minus body with a lot of smoothness to it, notes of strawberries and cranberries, pronounced minerality, fine acidity, just a bit of spice (including pepper) and tannins, aftertaste with cranberries and mineral. Young but approachable now, developed with aeration som will surely develop with time in the cellar, 89-90(+) p.
This wine definitely shows an unusually elegant side of Nuits-Saint-Georges.

First bottle and lowest fill in the case. Popped and poured. A touch cloudy from the ride home, but dark red with some age showing on the rim. Nice dark red fruit on the nose, with earth in the background. Ripe and full on the palate, with nice complexity but more about the fruit tonight. Very good and next bottle may be better. A-/A

Tart and toned cherry, cool menthol, black tea, with a bit more savory complexity with hints of earth and game. More delineated than the Gouges and Domaine d'Eugénie before it. A bit firmer as well with high acid and medium weight. It could use a bit more time to come together.

My first introduction to this domaine several years ago and still a favorite. Popped and poured. Darker ruby hue. Nose of damp cellar, forest floor, anise, raspberry, violets, stone. Cool blue fruits on the smooth but concentrated palate with anise, blackberry, and ferrous notes thrown in. Glycerin-like quality to the palate contrasting with NSG rocks and iron. Driving acidity and serious tannins leading to a long finish of dark berry, iron flecks, and sweet grip. Keeps getting better and likely to do so for years.

2011 Burgundy Anniversary Tasting (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Light ruby. Others were not as put off by as I was, but I was overwhelmed by the pure menthol aromatics. Medium weight, not bad in terms of red/black fruit, but high acidity and distantly peppery. This is not the first time I've noted unbalanced green elements in 2011 Chevillons, and I have serious concerns about this and other bottlings.

Medium red ruby in color with slight clearing at the edges. Forward, attractive & fragrant nose of developed & mature, complex, ripe fruit aromas of red cherries, strawberries & red currants with earthy & floral overtones, mushrooms, hints of sous-bois, kirsch, exotic spices notes of cinnamon & clove, dried herbs, some tobacco, minerals and just a slight hint of vanilla in the background. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of smooth textured, balanced, complex, developed & mature, ripe red fruits flavors of cherries, raspberries & currants with earthy, mushrooms, spices, minerals, herbs and a touch of vanilla. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present and it may be close to its peak of development although it may continue at this current plateau for several additional years if cellared properly.
