Opened my last bottle today of this absolutely wonderful wine. Glad that it was perfect and sad that I have no more.

Perfectly balanced, the 2001 Art Series Chardonnay glows from the glass golden yellow. With ageing this wine has developed some nut overtones while retaining its delicious fruit character of lemon and pear. Luscious, harmonious and gorgeous in the glass, this is without a doubt one of the best Chardonnays I have ever tasted in my 25 years of serious tasting.

Consumed a glass over an hour. There has been some bottle variation (even though it's a screwcap) among these Leeuwin art series chardonnay, and this was a good bottle. Significantly lighter on its feet than others I've had, no doubt benefiting from bottle age and luck. Oak and spice dominates. There is a bit of oomph to it that suggests Australia, but you could easily place it in Burgundy or California as well. Significant minerality, especially on the finish.

Worldwide Chards (Edina Country Club): Nice wine with honey, apples, spices and good acidity. Always enjoy the Leeuwin wines. Drink now to 2019.

Worldwide World Class Chards (Edina, MN): Light gold color. Drank 1 glass over 45 minutes. Just a bit earthy on the nose, wet stones, more citrus than I recall, and no tropical notes now and very minimal floral notes. The palate is quite similar on this bottle, none of the tropical fruit notes that gave this a remarkable intensity of fruit, more restrained and minerally with citrus, lemon, some oak, spice, getting more depth over an hour, long stony finish. An interesting evolution over the last few bottles.

This time side by side with Yarra Yering Chardonnay. Quite the contrast. Served with cumin, brown sugar and corriander grilled whole chicken and sweet and sour pickled cherry tomatoes. Was actually quite the match.

If you don't like oak, you won't like Leeuwin. But for those who do, oh, this is a wonderful Aussie Chard.

just delicious. French and grand cru like to me. terrific structure and cut to this wine. plenty of acidity that brings balance to the green apple fruit and has enough oak and sweetness and a long finish to bring it all in harmony in a classy way.

What a bottle I had! Pale pear-water in color, this wine has an enormous perfume of unctuous citrus (in addition to rubber), with a little bit of steeliness as well. On the palate the dominant note is gorgeous, bright, juicy, fresh-cut lime, with limestone (talc in other tasters' notes), and a bit of salinity - and just drinking it is terrifically refreshing. But if you can resist just drinking it, there's a lot going on: cucumber, brine, ginger, pear, steel, some yeastiness - on and on, all of it braided by the acid taut together like a suspension bridge cable. Absolute paragon of a dry riesling, and at ~35usd!? Will be seeking out a case of these and enjoying most of them in their glorious youth over the next three years.

Certainly not a California, Washington OR Bordeaux blend of Cab/Merlot (w/Malbec and PV). I don't know a lot about this Margaret River, but on a map it looks WAY close to the ocean. So...cool climate? These wines sit in barrel for 18 months, then the winery holds them another 3 years? Still tastes young, green, the fruit started to open up in hour number 3. Will it age into something more to my liking. Here's to hoping so!

Acidity is only just adequate, and the overall balance is satisfactory.
Aromatics are very interesting (lost of flowers and herbs), and
very different from burgundy.

WSET Diploma Graduation (Fix St. James, 111 Elizabeth Street, Sydney): On the nose blackcurrant, almost Ribena, pencil shavings, eucalyptus, graphite, cedar. In the mouth the wine is juicy with slight savoury blackcurrant, pencil shavings, cedar, chewy tannins. Long. It's rather nice but the oak component just seems to grow over time in the glass, slowly but surely dominating proceedings. This tasting makes me a little nervous about the two bottles residing in my cellar.

Filtered because the cork absolutely disintegrated; decanted 30 minutes. Mature, classic WA Cabernet with aged red and black cherry fruit, green bell pepper (capsicum for the Aussies), and V8/carrot. Even has some nice graphite mineral on the initial attack. Just great. No upside to more cellaring—drink now.

Less golden in colour in comparison. Straw yellow with green reflections. Creamy on the nose, ripe stone and tropical fruit, crushed stones, slightly herbal. Fresh, vibrant and punchy on the palate. Good concentration and balance. Complex and mineral, intense. Excellent finish. 91-93

Another great bottle ! Still lime green with gold touches. Nose lifted with scents of lemons, limes, white peach and pear. Touches of honey and hazelnut. Palate full with complex fruit and real drive and grip that define great Chardonnay from a privileged site. Great wine.
