artisan vintners — Friends & Family Tasting (The Sampler, South Kensington): Slightly darker fruit and a little sweaty on the nose. Quite dense. Nicely sweet-fruited attack, but more obvious structure on the finish. More food-friendly. **(*1/2)

Nice nose coming out of the bottle, but really remarkably bland on the palate. Listen to all of the other reviews: decant this for at least an hour, several hours may be better. It does improve and get more interesting the longer it is out of the bottle. Perhaps if I followed my own advice, my rating would be a be higher.

Out of Magnum and bottled for another business I can't remember.

Ripe and round. Meaty and savory, with a little cherry fruit and a hint of spice. It has good texture, but is a little broad and lacks focus. Reasonable balance and pleasureable in a giving sense. 87pts

Carnitas night (My place): Lots of bright dark fruited flavours tinged with more savoury earthy, dried floral, and anise-like notes that make it feel quite Barolo-like. There's a fair bit of tannin here that feels slightly coarse and rustic, and a faint roasted topnote to the aromatics that I found detracted from the whole package. A really interesting wine to follow, though not always pleasurable.

(Mostly) reds at Salil's (Vernon, CT): Dark fruits, with a nutty, tree bark note. It could have been my imagination, given the region, but I also picked up some "Nebbiolo-like" notes of tar and rose petals. This improved a bit with air, and although it was an interesting wine, it never really charmed me. This could probably have used even more air.

Nose shows dark fruits with a roasted nut component that carries into the middle of the palate, where it is met by some sage and herbal notes. Some heat is apparent on the backend. This is an interesting expression of Peidmont terrior, and it does resonate despite being showcased through a more full-bodied, robust frame.

Good to Very Good

This came out of the bottle very nicely, and improved with time. Drank alongside a 2008 Napa Cabernet. Showed nice fruit early, and showed earth, tobacco and dark fruits after an hour or so. Very nice with ribeye... I think this still has some life in it...

Light brick red. Lovely, clean aromas that reminds of tea, roses, pine needles and tannins. Rather coarse tannins in the mouth, and relatively low in acidity.

I noted rather short length and angular tannins on a bottle 3 years ago but was bothered by neither this evening. The tannins were firm but have become more civilised and the length seemed decent. The bouquet was attractive but a bit subdued showing lovely notes of rose, anise tinged herbs and tar with hints of cherry. The palate was medium/full showing more fruit than often in 20 year Barolo, lively acidity, plentiful minerals and similar aromatics to the nose with a firmly supported finish. Good+.

Initially rather musty, some think corked. Then this seems to wake up, showing classic Barolo notes of red fruit, cinnamon and dried spices. Then gets musty again. Something off here. Racines with Ray, Matt F.

Absolutely delicious wine. Loved it. started good right out of the bottle nice berries and smoke, fairly light. With air added complexity, now roses and violets added. Beautiful aroma. No italian funk. Pristine. For $25 a baby Barolo . Must go back for another few

Our bottle must have been a bad bottle. At our tasting everyone hated it and when the $50 price, one of the most expensive wines of the night, was announced, everyone groaned. The nose was terrible. Strong VA plus some odd chemical smell. It didn't show much on the palate. It seemed more modern. This was only opened about an hour or two before we drank it, so maybe it needs a good decant to show well young. I was surprised to see so many enthusiastic notes on CellarTracker! Imported by The Piedmont Guy.

A burnished oak nose, this has more of the sweet smell of aged wine character to me. like a sweet bourbon kinda thing. Brown sugar. Seamless and very pretty palate, a shorter finish but also totally integrated. Maybe not so short on the finish, just very long.
