StG's menu tonight screamed Burgundy so that didn't hurt. How often does a Batard-Montrachet show up at a wine dinner??? Maybe once every 3yrs at the ones I frequent? This rare bird was wonderful tonight. Its best traits are its, sense of power, stunning length & fruit complexity. I loved it. Like other Pernots I've had it seems to beg for a bit more freshness & zip. If it had that, it would be a 97pter for me. Still, it outshines many a Puligny Montrachet with its complexity & power. 94-95 Thanks for sharing this Dave D! |

4/19/2024 - WKC Likes this wine: 91 pointsVery enjoyable and lovely notes of honey, pear and white flowers which increased as it aired. Went very nicely with the Fines de Claire’s. This is a bargain and almost a steal at current pricing. In drinking window and worth seeking out. |

Tonight's bottle shows the evolution nicely as this takes on more weight and richness now. Dense, full bodied and round, juicy fruits, orange and more citrus, touches of pineapple, subtle lemon cream, honeyed, loads of oyster shell and ocean minerality. Clearly shows it grand cru power and class. Excellent, and maybe even better in it's brighter youth? Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

4/10/2024 - Seth Rosenberg Likes this wine: 91 pointsPnP - Zalto burg - big nose of mint and green and lemon, almond and dry nuts. Vanilla. Orange peel or zest. From a conterno sensory there is some butterscotch and sweetness - marzipan and lemon drops? Palate is big and rich with some sweetness. Still some oak and vanilla. Rich but it’s got some snap and acid. Definite lemon. Finish shows the vanilla and nuttiness. Nose - 5-5.5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 4.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15.5-16/20. |

4/11/2024 - Vinnut Likes this wine: 91 pointsMedium golden yellow in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of apples, pears & citrus notes of lemons/limes with overtones of floral notes of honeysuckle & minerals, stony & a subtle hint of smoky/toasty oak. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of apples, pears & lemons/limes with minerals, flinty, stony & a hint of toasty oak & vanilla. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present but has the structure, ripe fruit & depth to develop further with additional aging. |

4/6/2024 - AlphaMikeFoxtrot Likes this wine: 90 pointsLime juice, cream, wet stone, fresh tarragon, roasted corn and brine on the nose. Medium + intensity of aromas. Very subtle oak influence here. The palate is more citrus and yeast driven, adding blood orange and fennel seed. Medium + intensity of flavors. |

3/24/2024 - jviz wrote: 90 pointsVery nice note below, with which I fully concur. It’s slightly reduced, with some exotic fruits like kiwi, starfuit, a little sliced pear. Very nice for the level with reasonable concentration and no discernible oak. Good buy, and rather quaffable. |

White flowers on the nose and a honeyed quality, strong beeswax scent. Quite spherical and palate coating impression. I doubt there is upside in aging this beyond the next 5 years |

2/18/2024 - peternelson Likes this wine: 94 pointsSlightly darker, showing very good aging, some baking spice, baked apple, hint of nuttiness, perfect aged character, long finish. As there were only 2 older wines (this and a 1999) they sort of stood out at first for their age, but with a little time it's greatness showed through. My WOTN, although it was a tough call with some of the younger wines showing so well. Ya gotta pick one... 9th place overall so not a lot of people felt the same. Yarom DD blind tasting Crustacean. |

Some did not like it, and I can kinda understand why - it wasn't as fresh as it could be, and also had an exotic note to it. However, with air, it really came up and found itself. It could go longer (but give it some air on opening) but I don't think there is much need. |
