Respectable food wine. Relatively low price ($15). I have another bottle but I don't intend to buy a third. Drink now to about 2017.

nice little bottle of wine, not sure where we picked it up. Bing cherry, tobacco and a few rough tannins. Definitely a rebuy for every night vino.

Dissapointing, even at the price. Cranberry color with thin legs. Lot's of sour cherry with a bitter finish.

Pleasant earthy and fruity notes, resin in the middle, but the smell and the finish are full of hot alcohol. Aftertaste a bit bitter, as well. Would not buy again.

Ruby in the glass, fruity nose, not complex but very pleasant and balanced that anyone would find easy to drink,, notes of red fruits and earth, tannins are soft, finish is short. Excellent value wine.

I enjoyed this bottle. At $10, you never know, but it makes me happy when it works out well.

First off, I like the brick'ish rust color of Nebiolo. I think that it's fun and looks nice. The wine had a nice spice to it, but didn't feel heavy handed.

This wine was my wife and my friend for a nice Friday evening dinner of a light pasta and seafood medley with asparagus. Maybe not a textbook pairing, but it worked for us.

Will I drink it again? Maybe, but there are so many wines to try. Who know, but I can say that I wouldn't hesitate to grab one again if the time felt right.

More nuanced than others have let on here, with notable floral and mineral joining the red fruit & plum party. Medium plus acid and delicious light dusty tannins. Best at 2-hour decant. Lost complexity/charm overnight.

Lively red color. Soil after rain, fresh sour cherry, clay, fresh plum, very fun nose. Tastes like it smells, great balance of sweetness and acidity, medium tannins. Very "fun" wine. ($15)

Spoiled. This is not the first bottle of big Italian or French appellations with amazingly low price from Trader Joe's which were either spoiled or not enjoyable.

Not decanted, consumed over two consecutive evenings. MartinD's 11/19/2013 note pegs this one pretty well: decent, if somewhat oaky and simple nebbiolo with drying tannins quite prominent at the moment. Little change between nights one and two. If the tannins ever integrate and come into balance, this could pick up a few points, but 86-87ish for now.

Having read some of the comments on this wine, I wonder what the taste history is for those commenters. My thinking is that they reflect — for better or for worse — the current (as some would say "Parker") preference for the high alcohol, highly extracted, fruity, new-oak influenced style of wine.

While this wine very much is made in the so-called modern style of Barolo, it still bears the obvious taste profile of that region and grape: medium color, nose of violets, elusive nebbiolo flavors, an abundance of soft, lengthy tannins in the finish.

While so many other of the great red wine grapes — cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, syrah, to name the most obvious — have found suitable homes outside of their traditional appellations, nebbiolo is an obvious exception: Quality nebbiolo-based wines outside of Barolo, Barbaresco and a few other limited regions of the Piedmont simply do not exist.

In sum, I challenge any of those commenters of this wines who have classified it as less than commendable to suggest a better alternative with the same taste profile in the same price range. I know they cannot.

Bottom line: This is a terrific and rare example of affordable Barolo. For those who have had little or no opportunity to try Barolo at a reasonable price, this is your chance.

A decent value in a Nebbiolo, at $10. It is quite balanced with medium body, tart and sweet cherries, hints of floral and tar, smooth tannin and enough acidity to make it a good table wine. The oak treatment seems to dominate.

Of course it does not compare with more expensive Nebbiolos, in that is lacks the intensity of fruit, violet, tar, tannin and acid.
