Peaking. Great blackberry fruit, tannins and heat diminished from when this wine was a youngster, a nicely balanced wine. Drink soon.

Surprised on the capacity to be aged. It has been okay to be drunken now but also can be aged at least 5+years. Inky hued on colour and dark chocolates, sweet spices, cidars, musk and a hint of oxidized nuance(positive meaning), entirely dimmed, dusted styled cabernet. be raise up the bottle before enjoy this well-matured Cab to prevent drinking with sediments on the bottom.

Blind Tasting - Battle of the States: Blackcurrant and oak with some kirsch and pencil shavings. Palate has good richness from the fruit, with medium structure keeping it moving. Nice but a little bit boring.

cork had seepage and the nose had a mustiness. I was worried. However, with air the purity returned and the sexiness of the fruit really shined. This drank well day 2 with dried fruits on nose and palate, perhaps a touch medicinal. The alcohol is under control and acidity keeps this fresh. Very little tannin but this has held up for 10 yrs nevertheless.

This is a MASSIVE wine, HUGE mouth-feel, voluptuous layers, explosive fruit, power, LOONNNG finish. Some have said port-like, and that is spot-on. This will satisfy your most annoying fruit bomb fan. Not my cup of tea when having wine with food, but I can certainly recognize quality and a successful composition. This would be incredible with a dark chocolate dessert. I'm thinking a decadent devils food fudge cake with a raspberry filling---that would be a match made in heaven. The alcohol is off the chart, and it goes down easy so be warned. When these were first released they were almost undrinkable as the oakiness and jammy fruit were cloying and syrupy. I get it now and long cellar times with most of their wines are not only recommended, but really required to experience the proper effect.

Ripe plum and influence of high quality oak is evident on the nose , palate is brooding with plum, blackberry and spicey dark cherry, finishes with considerable length and soft tannins. Slightest hint of the 15 % alcohol suggesting a few more years required

Savoury raspberry and cedar on the nose, with soy undertones present after a few minutes . The palate shows ripe plum and stewed cherries with very fine but bitter tannins to finish, spoiling what is otherwise a very enjoyable wine.

Deep red with a lighter hue towards the edge of the glass. Amazingly aromatic nose of dark plum, cedar, violets and vanillin oak. The palate is well proportioned with spicy plum and blackberry on the front to mid palate and high quality French oak and persistent fine grained tannins dominating the back palate. Wine has great acidity and balance, suggest a short to medium rather than long term cellaring for optimum enjoyment.

The wine has a medium red hue, moving to a lighter red around the rim of the glass.

As with many, if not all the Colonial Estate reds, the most obvious element on the nose is the rich, overt French oak, the 08 Grenache combines these rich oak influences with dark cherry fruit.

The palate has good depth, but is uncomplicated in terms of flavours. There are primary characters of plum and cherry, but the fruit gets lost in the mid to back palate due to the highly aromatic and aggressive oak, this for some will be a wonderful thing, but others render the wine 'one dimensional'

The finish has fine tannins, considerable length and warm mouth feel.

A very dark red to purple in colour, the nose is steeped in oak, as is the case with most of Colonial Estate's wines, there is however ripe plum and cinnamon influences that more than hold their own.

The palate shows good elegance and is lighter on it's feet than the nose suggests, with spicy dark cherry and plum slowly building in concentration as it combines with firm tannins. The finish has excellent length that is capped off by rich cedary oak.

Blackberry, earth , and a touch of dark cheery on the nose, Focused
palate of blackberry, plum and a dash of white pepper. The
exceptional quality French oak provides a vanillin lift that helps to
counter the persistent, but balanced tannins. The wine has tremendous
length, with weight of fruit and tannin structure an indicator of a
