Still has good fruit and structure, but very acidic. 5 min in my glass getting lots of dried fruits, some funk...continuing to open. Really enjoying. How fun to drink an older vintage! |

10/17/2020 - West Coast Wine Likes this wine: 92 pointsRed/some slight rim variation but not as much as when tasted at the tasting room 2 years ago. Lush red fruit, cherry, some ocean air, boysenberry on the nose. Acid is still there and tannins are also evident. Med body. This opens up after 30 minutes and is still fresh and alive. Really surprising as last time tasted was showing much more aging than this bottle is showing. 3-5 years easily left before showing signs of fading. Great example of SLH PN. Not a very long finish but excellent flavor and body. |

3/15/2019 - Drinking Trees wrote: 88 pointsNose shows strong notes of blackberry, strawberry, and basil, with sweet, soda-like notes of rhubarb and sarsaparilla. On the palate, the flavour, tannin, and acidity are all strong, though it doesn't have a mouth-filling structure. Light-to-medium-bodied, with powerful flavours of blackberry, black cherry, and prune, with hints of liquorice and rosemary. After a few hours, the tannins fade away and the acidity becomes overly prominent. An enjoyable wine, but I suggest drinking it quickly. |

Clear medium garnet in the glass, nose is clean with medium intensity, red fruits and earth, palate is dry and balanced, medium acidity and tannins, medium bodied, red cherry, currant, hint of dried fruit/fig, sweet spice note baking spice, nutmeg and vanilla, hint of leather and earth leading to a long lasting finish. Wow. |

2/20/2018 - tonepad Likes this wine: 90 pointsI liked this a lot and even more than Lucia/Pisoni wines I've tried lately. This has some nice minerality with cola, pomegranate, cherry and dark fruit at work. A little bit of earth on the nose...I liked it even more on a second night from the decanter. This was a much different impression from my comments 2 years ago. The extra bottle age must be at play in a positive way. |

2/17/2017 - celo4life Likes this wine: 90 pointsThis bottle was given to me by a family member of the winery and it was stored in conditions that were a little variable. Nevertheless, this bottle still has a bit of character left in the bottle. At first taste, it was surprisingly light with hints of cherry along with a lot of earthy tones. After it opened up, the fruit took over a bit and it balanced out the acidity on the wine. I would say that it's probably at or a little past it's peak so enjoy it while you can if you have it stored at a consistent temperature. |

2/6/2017 - mdewolf54 wrote: 95 pointsVery dark and high toned. Ripe fruit is evident in the cherry jam aromas that are typical of the appellation. "Brilliant ruby-red. Sexy, oak-spiced aromas of black raspberry and cherry-cola, with a smokey nuance gaining strength in the glass. Sappy, incisive dark berry flavors take a brighter turn with air, picking up notes of bitter cherry and candied rose. The vanilla note comes back on the finish, which shows excellent clarity, supple tannins and lingering sweetness. I like this extroverted Pinot's blend of richness and vivacity." |
