Nose: The nose just screams from the get go with baked apples, brioche, minerals, pears, hazelnuts, Meyer lemons, some floral notes. There is a lot of depth and class to the nose that really draws you in.

Taste: Medium/full bodied with medium/high acidity. There is a lot of poise and class to the feel with baked apples, brioche, minerals, hazelnuts, meyer lemons, and some floral notes.

Overall: This is a real show stopper. It's deep and layered with a lot of class. That said, it does feel like there is room to grow and I would to try this again in the future.

2012 Flegenheimer Reserve Red

Clare Valley Shiraz Blend, Syrah more

7/31/2015 - bordeaux4wino Likes this wine: 85 points

Good wine, but lacking complexity. The wine is from McLaren Vale as well, not Clare, but I put it in under this listing.
Great big, rich, dark red and black fruits upfront....cherries, blackberries, blueberries....compote and jammy notes with a touch of vanilla and spice. The back palate drops off a bit, with not much of a finish, and the wine lacks a bit of balance between the alcohol and acidity (which tastes like acidification was used.) Still, a solid and enjoyable wine for the price point.

Nose: The nose is refined and showing maturity with honey notes, apples, pears, biscuits, florals, and some brioche.

Taste: Medium bodied with medium/high acidity. There is a layered quality to the feel with apples, brioche, pears, minerals, and some honey tones.

Overall: This is really in its pomp right now. It's at that perfect stage of maturity while having freshness to the tones as well.

Wow, thank God that this one comes from a strong vintage or else it would probably be a high alcohol mess. First of all, case #1 for why tempro needs to be limited to 13.5% at the highest (okay, 14% if you're Ringland) and definitely controlled on the new oak. This one at 11 years is still a bomb of fruit sugars, with dark succulent fruits (I would call it a succubus if I was looking for a romantic comparison) and really extreme oakiness. It has some wonderfully sublime tertiary flavors of rock, forest floor and some beef blood, but those will take anywhere from 10-15 years to really show themselves. And if it wasn't for the wonderful acids holding this bruiser together we would never get there. To give you an idea how strong this is, I'm less than two glasses in and I already need to call a cab to get home.... Hold until the LA Olympics.

Mild aroma on this very pale Riesling. Apple, citrus and pear in this very sweet white wine. Thin body with virtually no finish. Probably won't buy this again for the price.

Purple red. Animal aromas with etherical notes. Soft and sweet mouth feeling with plenty of fruit, but also plenty of extraction. Warm and bitter finish.

recent purchase from wine shop. PNP. cork totally disintegrated but all i had was a crappy rental house opener. color gold. nose shows peachy pineapple and spice. swishing unloads the spicy acidity and the palate takes on a mostly pineapple note that lingers for at least a minute. the RS is mostly squelched by the acidity, and this shows great balance despite its 25yrs (most of which i am guessing were laying in that wine shop). this is in a wonderful spot right now

Tasty little wine. It is sold in the grocery store but it worked perfectly well for an outside afternoon lunch of sausages. Plenty of rich South-of-France-like fruit, a hint of that South African campfire and juicy acidity. What more could you want for a sub-$10 wine?

This is perfect for the New World wine drinker who you are trying to recruit to the charm of the Old World.

This is a very decent and enjoyable wine. Dry with good acidity and balance. An unusual varietal taste -- nothing like a Chardonnay or Sauv Blanc, maybe closest to a Pinot Grigio? We are just starting to explore Greek wines and this is good value and enjoyable for the price. Grade: B+.

The deep amber color and the floral aroma are the best things about this Chardonnay. On the palate I tasted citrus, apricot with a hint of oak with a fuller than average medium body. However the finish was somewhat lacking with a mild bitter aftertaste.

Still somewhat reductive nose, even after 24 hours in the decanter, in the fridge. Some petrol, mineral notes too. Not very much sweetness on palate; decent fruit for a kab; acidity integrated. The perfect aperitif and clearly has much longer to run. Wish I had more than a case.
