Pleasant garnet color with purple flashes. Nice spicy nose with with blueberries and cassis behind. Medium-bodied and lifted on the palate, showing a certain elegance. Black cherry flavors mix well with allspice and black pepper. Finishes well if quickly, with a bit of grip and drying light tannins. This is a bottle with modest pretensions, and it meets them very very well.

Pale straw color. Nose: Fuji apple, Asian pear, guava, and honeydew melon with accents of orange blossom, honeysuckle, lime zest, vanilla, brioche, and cinnamon. Medium body on the palate: Fuji apple, Asian pear, honeydew melon, and green plum framed by honeysuckle, lime & tangerine zest, vanilla, white pepper, and cinnamon. Medium acidity. Lingering apple skin, melon rind, white pepper, and lime peel on the moderate finish. Nicely made. Very good value. Serve as an aperitif or with grilled branzino, octopus salad, or a mezze platter. Drink now.

Pale lemon color. Shy nose of pears, a bit of stoniness. Flabby and sweetish on the palate, with pear flavors. Not terribly worth drinking.

First enjoyed this wine at Taste restaurant in Plymouth CA. Very good restaurant if you are visiting the Amador Co. wine region. Grapes are from Clarksburg CA. one of the best regions growing this varietal. Chenin Blanc is under appreciated in my opinion. Probably because it produces an abundance of fruit and the wine made from it can be dry or sweet with good results. This CB is very drinkable with a slight sweetness but the fruit and flavors are not diminished by it. Nice golden overtones and good feel in the mouth.

A subtle pepper flavor and a fruity nose. Not a bad zin. I would venture a classic Amador zin.

Ruby color. Nose: blueberry, boysenberry, and bottled cherry with accents of violets/roses, vanilla, bacon, tobacco, baking spices, dark chocolate, and licorice root. Medium body on the palate: black cherry, boysenberry, and blueberry framed by licorice root, clove, tobacco, vanilla bean, mocha, Sichuan peppercorn, and black olive. Medium+ acidity. Moderate/lighter tannins. Lingering licorice root, clove, Sichuan peppercorn, and black olive on the moderate finish. Vibrant fruit with lots of earthy spice accents. Great table red. An ideal match for Carolina-style pulled pork. Drink over the next 2-3 years.

My second bottle of this wine; you might not guess that it's Grenache because of the bass notes. Decanted 90 mins. ahead. Medium-deep garnet color. Nice savory nose of white pepper, cherries, blackberry, and coffee hints. Rich and smooth on the palate, not tart, as black cherry flavors lead over dark spices. Finishes quickly with low tannins. A nice wine from the dark end of the Grenache scale, probably pushed in that direction by the Syrah in the blend.

This wine is designated Indian Creek Vineyard, and there does not seem to be any other 2011 Andis Primitivo. Anyway it's a totally worthwhile bottle. Very deep ruby. Nice, zin-like nose of blackberries, blueberries, and hard spices complemented by sweet oak. Dark and serious on the palate, as clear black-fruit and black pepper flavors join loamy and woody tones. Finishes with a wave of cherry and more blueberries ahead of light grip and low tannins. I wish I had more of this because it will be better in a few years (pH 3.5, 13.5%ABV). Right now, it's rich and delicious.

An essay in wood. Decanted 1 hr. ahead. Ruby color with some purple. Nice nose of cedar, dried herbs, oak, cherries. Medium-bodied on the palate, with moderate acidity. Black pepper and cranberry flavors join. Finishes quickly with some grip and light tannins. Woody elements are strong in this wine, and it strays from what I think of as Grenache (this wine is 20% syrah) but it's pleasant drinking.

Decanted 1:30 ahead, off of a bit of sediment (a good sign). Very pleasant spicy and woody nose, with cherry notes. Black cherries lead a soft flavor profile; it's not tart and it's not firm; it's more spicy than juicy in texture, somewhat soft even. Finishes smoothly with very low tannins. The better Amador wines are spice-forward rather than fruit-forward. This orientation seems to drive the folks at Andis, which is a good thing.

Decanted 90 mins. ahead. Ruby color with purple touches. Nice earthy nose with mushrooms, blackberries, black cherries. Spice flavors lead on the palate, including cinnamon and cardamon, over black cherry tones. The finish is drying, with tea notes and a bit of grip along with very low tannins. Acidity and earth notes are key to this wine, a very pleasant bottle which is juicy and very much worth drinking.

Pale amber with green highlights. Nice nose of white peach, apricot, honeydew melon. Ripe melon dominates on the palate in a soft, creamy texture along with some stone notes. Finishes with some sweetness, with 2% residual. A credible sipper.

Decanted 1 hr. ahead. Medium-deep garnet color. Nice nose of black and white pepper, cherries, and a little mint. Juicy and delicious on the palate, as uncomplicated red-fruit flavors lead over some earthy/coffee tones. Acid balance is crisp in a medium body. Finishes quickly with light grip and very low tannins. This is a thoroughly credible bottle of juice, not meant for meditation but for enjoyment right now. Very good.

Decanted 45 mins. ahead. Nice black cherry color with purple tones. Interesting spicy nose, with black pepper, white pepper, and cherry notes. Lively and elegant on the palate, full of supple and seductive fruit, balanced by tobacco and cedar flavors. Acid balance is juicy and rich. Finishes well with another blast of dark cherry fruit and moderately full tannins. Technically speaking, this is one very nice bottle of juice. The Cab/Syrah blend is still rare in CA (l'Aventure among a few others) but this wine (and that one) show its potential. It drinks a bit like a Petite Sirah right now, with attractive fruit and lively tannins, but it could also take some years in the bottle. I wish I had more.
