Medium pale body with honey and grassy tones. It has a tense tone with a undercurrent of oysters and salt.

Light yellow. Very fragrant with strong white grapefruit tones plus a bit of a tropical top note. Glossy feel upfront, green herbs, then a deep dive into acidity and bitter citrus pith that define the finish. Saliva-inducing. A very nice, less expensive alternative to Sancerre from the same part of the world.

A delightful, simple wine. The flavors are textbook Loire Cab. Franc which is to say it tastes exactly as it should coming from Valencay. The flavors and texture are in balance. It is very pleasant to drink now and should remain so for a few years. Unpretentious excellence.

A very different wine. I have not seen a blend like this before. The bouquet, especially with air, is intriguing. It smells like gravel and violets, with hints of graphite and something I can't quite put my finger on, but I think, black farming soil. On the palate it's acidic and seems tight right now. It opened up on the second day. The wine is light to medium bodied and light weight. This to say, it's a red masquerading as a powerful white. The finish is good. The wine hints at Cru Beaujolais but there's more to it than that. It's also different from, say, a Villages Burgundy. The Malbec, I think, makes it quite unique. It reminds me of what a red Sauvignon Blanc might taste like. It's very dry and quite terroir driven. Too unique, with too much going on, to merit less than 89 points. The bouquet captivates me.

Violet color; kaleidoscopic nose and palate that im struggling to describe. Overall its almost more barbera than anything from the Loire. Medium-light weight but with some fine grain tannins, and not much finish. Ready for this? 40% gamay, 30% malbec, 20% cab franc, and 10% pinot noir. I can pick up on the gamay, malbec and cab franc most prominently, the pinot is lost with the gamay for the most part. Interesting (crazy), fun wine!

Lovely; simple but very clean, grassy with some body and some tropical fruit as well, though dry and fresh; pure, long finish. Could have guessed a better NZ sauvignon blanc.

A mouthwatering mineral, linear style. Hay, grassy, green apples and lemon aromas. Almonds, lemon curd and an exotic fruit mid palate of passion fruit. The finish ends on a distinctive bitter note which reinforces the minerality.

Medium dark red. Gone is the sweat so dominating on release. Now it's been replaced by charcoal smoke, potatoes, and minerals. Surprising sweetness really shows the year, although I would have preferred more brightness as well (perhaps this has faded with time). Still some furriness to the tannin, though, on the finish.

In the waning hours of Father's day, not enough time to give it much air, so I passed it through a vinturi to decanter 3x, and off we go. Color dark ruby made even darker with very fine sediment, medium body. A wine that somehow shows interesting qualities of each of its varietal constituents - gamay, malbec, cab franc, and pinot noir. Bouquet shows cool plums, strawberries, violets, minerals, a little fresh black earth, a little pipe tobacco. Curious palate, it made me think of ripe plums, rhubarb, oven-roasted beets in balsamic, violets and tobacco delivered via smooth vehicle of earth, mineral and vegetables. Low-medium acid, mild very soft tannins, and a relatively short finish. Served blind to spouse who loves fruit bombs, her unsolicited comment was that she really liked it, but acknowledged it is not fruity in an obvious way. Not for everyone, this has a dark savory fruits/meaty/earthy quality that still carries some lightness from a larger percentage of gamay. Drink in the next 2-3 years. At 15 bucks I have no compunction about revisiting this blend from the Valencay appellation again.

40% Gamay, 30% Malbec, 20% Cab Franc, 10% Pinot Noir. Cool blend, right? Nice color, slightly darker than a usual French Pinot, but still slightly see through. Nice spicy nose, coming through with well defined red cherry notes with a great hint of an earth and a slight green pepper/vegetal note from the cab franc, even a slight hint of floral potpourri. In the mouth, medium bodied. This ain't your typical Grape Kool Aid Gamay based wine. Beautiful acidity, as you would expect. Very much a wine for food. Get some slight sour cherry and blueberry action, great grip on the midpalette with the sour fruit and that vegetal note. Tastes like those really tiny, sour, wild raspberries you find in the forrest. Finishes nice and clean, leaves you salavating. Could definitely see as a red wine for fish. I like it, but not for everyone. Gotta dig those weird wines to enjoy this.
