2/7/2016 - SheddVA Likes this wine: 87 pointsA fruit forward, all-purpose wine that is good for a group dinner or get together. No one would push it away. With that, the wine isn't complex and has only an average finish. |

5/6/2015 - WineWright Likes this wine: 92 pointsAlouette reminds me that not all wine must be a terroir champion. Sometimes diverse and democratic contributions to an effort just work out beautifully. Absent more information about its origins--I gather this is a Wagner family production exclusively for Total Wine--I can only judge what my senses tell me, and thus far the 2012 Alouette continues to be a consistent pleasure to drink. What a crowd pleaser. |

Mostly strawberry and red jammy flavors, but there is slight hint of earth or terroir on the finish. Overall, this is a good quality pinot, just not that complex. |

11/8/2014 - Mike Kopanski wrote: 88 pointsThis tastes so much like Meomi, that it just may be. It comes from the same source, and could be Total Wines's private rendition. Never the less, it definitely has what I call a "red pop" approach to the Pinot Noir flavor profile. More than any wine I have ever tasted, this wine has a jammy, sweetish attack of fresh red raspberry, strawberry, cherry and cranberry fruit. The approach is very soft and extraordinarily fruit driven. I don't exactly love this style, but many will, so give then credit for creating something unique. They have balanced things out with just enough acidity and oak. Seems very ripe without much tannin. The finish is "red pop" fruity. You could probably serve this slightly chilled, and easily drink it alone without food. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

11/9/2014 - dkhale4 Likes this wine: 91 pointsThis is sure to be a crowd pleaser and a wine that everyone will enjoy, even those who don't normally drink red wine. It is smooth, rich and not over the top in its weight or density. It is more of the California style than Oregon, both in color and structure. If you're having people over for the holidays without a lot of red wine experience, this should be a real winner. |
