Muito verde, com a fruta completamente ofuscada pelos aromas e sabores herbáceos.

Deep tawney looking wine with aromas of red cherry and toffee. No noticeable VA on opening. Straight-forward flavour of ripe red cherries. Rounded low-medium tannin, low-medium acidity and a medium finish with a pronounced toffee aftertaste. The alcohol (14%) was well integrated.

The aromas and flavours diminished significantly in the decanter 4 hours after opening, and the wine completely died a day later. This is not unexpected given that this not premium wine meant to be stored for an extended period.

Overall, a basic fruit-forward everyday wine. I visited the producer’s website and note that it is still producing this brand today. A difference is that the 2012 vintage is bottled with cork while the photos on the website, presumably of the latest vintage, is sealed with cork screw.

Very nice and well balanced. Has lost a little fruit and green but still has what it takes for pasta enhancements. Drink now.

2570 bottles made; 50% Marsanne – 45% Roussanne – 5% Sauvignon Gris (although in the past, I think they used to use Viognier instead of Sauvignon Gris). The vineyard is located 12 km from the Pacific. The label says the Marsanne and Roussane were fermented in concrete while the Sauvignon Gris in new oak. You immediately get the oak on the nose and I think some malolactic. But not over the top. Spice. Dried herbal notes and salinity with some underlying ripe stone fruit. On the palate, the fruit dominates more with good freshness and some oak spice. Round. Medium-bodied. Comes off as more of high-quality new world Chardonnay as opposed to typically unoaked Sauvignon Blanc of Chile.

deep dark red with violet overtones and appreciable viscosity. the nose is generous with black cherries, blackberries, figs, leather, tobacco and roasted peppers. medium- to full-bodied juicy-feeling in the mouth, very polished tannins providing good structure as the layers develop. very very long finish with an herbal minty freshness.

fully mature and well-integrated, a worthy companion to home-made Empanadas Dieciocheras

****

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like plum, cherry and bell pepper. It tastes like plum, cherry, strawberry and bell pepper. The body is medium. The wine has polished texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has high acidity.

I'm intrigued by Chilean carménères , which provide an old-world flavor profile somewhat in the direction of Burgundies. This one is good but not great. I'm typically intrigued by barnyard aromas, which I learned are caused by the 4-ep output of brettanomyces yeast. IOW, these wines have brett, which some people like in moderation and some people hate in any form. Barnyard is particularly prominent in this wine (or at least my bottle), and dominates the aroma. There's just a touch of floral aroma in the direction of violet. The palate is drying, leaving the impression of a much older wine. It makes for a wine not everyone would like. I'd be glad to drink it again, but rather than seek it out will probably continue my survey of Chilean carménères if the selection allows.

Great QPR, a super summer rose. 85% Carmenere, 15% Syrah. Pale salmon, w/ med to med+ raspberry, strawberry, ripe lemon, ruby red grapefruit and wet stone. All stainless steel. Dry, w/ med+ to high acidity, med- tannins and med alcohol (13%). Med bodied, quaffable by itself or with a variety of appetizers, fish & white meats. It has none of the negatives sometimes associated with Carmenere. Med to med+ flavor intensity and length, w/ a pleasant ruby red grapefruit bitterness on the finish. This rose' over-delivers. Drink now, not intended for aging.

Temperature: Room temperature and aerated
Color: Ruby, some clearing at the rim
Nose: Earth, pepper, stewed veg, bruised plum, smoked meat
Palate: Silky, high tannin long finish

Much more nuance from the nose than the palate for me. Solid wine. Drinks like a natural wine.

Drinking waaaaay above it’s price. This is delicious. A velvety mouthfeel. Low tannins. I get strong raspberry on the initial sip. Granite on the nose and the palate. I also get some light vanilla. This is just a super well balanced delicious Carmenere.

Entre el estallido y la pandemia – vinos chilenos; 11/3/2019-2/18/2020 (Chile): silvery straw and medium body. petrol gives way to generous floral and stonefruit aromas with citric overtones. dry and juicy in the mouth, there is an enjoyable interplay of lime and peach flavours. juicy acidity lightens the feel even with the appreciable concentration, and pithy minerality provides some depth. good length.

Entre el estallido y la pandemia – vinos chilenos; 11/3/2019-2/18/2020 (Chile): medium ruby and body in the glass. nose has a mix of red and dark fruit with some notes of herb, earth and smoke. ample in mouth, fresh cherry and cranberry fruit mingle with riper plum and cranberry flavours with enjoyable earthiness and touches of spice. tannins are integrated and the finish is fairly long. moderate alcohol (13.5%).

surprisingly good Pinot from a large-scale producer… though to be fair, this bottling is only of ~7,000 bottles. fruit comes from the San Antonio valley, is fully de-stemmed, and undergoes cold maceration prior to fermentation. wine ages in French oak of second and third use for some five months, then is blended and aged a further four months in stainless prior to bottling.

well-aerated. garnet rim with dark ruby core. developed nose with menthol, tobacco leaf, cedar and pepper accenting the back plum, blackberry and blackcurrant compote fruit aromas. quite fresh in the mouth with much complexity in display: layering of cherry and cassis fruit with earthy mocha and mushroom notes. subtle sweetness creeps in toward the long finish. fully mature now, very well balanced, and rather elegant.

a very pleasant surprise from a high-volume producer; the grapes are sourced near La Pintana, in the "Alto Maipo".

This Cabernet Sauvignon from an excellent vintage is of deep violet hue and has a nose with hints of tobacco and dark chocolate, coupled with ripe stone fruit character in the mouth. This wine received minimal handling before bottling to preserve its uniqueness and integrity.
