4/18/2024 - Pellinge wrote: 91 points70% Sangiovese/15% Merlot/15% Sagrantino. When I read that Michel Rolland consulted here, I got worried. But this is very nice, well balanced, and definitely Sangiovese-forward. Translucent garnet color, a touch of licorice and vanilla on the nose. Plenty of acidity, and cherry lozenge dominates the palate along with some mocha. The tannins are silky, so this is drinking well today. Good stuff, and a reminder that I haven't given enough attention to the wines of Umbria. |

4/15/2024 - Bolognese Diner Likes this wine: 87 pointsTo the nose, it's an explosion of scents: wildflowers, red fruits, and a touch of nutmeg. On the palate, it immediately presents itself as dry and fresh, with just the right softness that contrasts with the tannins. |

4/15/2024 - Bolognese Diner Likes this wine: 89 pointsDeep ruby red, on the nose it expresses hints of blackberry jam, pepper, clove, and vanilla, with a balsamic note and a touch of powder. On the palate, it is powerful yet elegant, characterized by a tannic structure of incredible precision and craftsmanship. It finishes very long, with notes of blackberry bramble. |

3/25/2024 - Nerdy Earth Boy Likes this wine: 92 pointsTakes time to open and the cork literally crumbled into a zillion parts. BUT luscious dark cherry awaited some patience and it absolutely improved with decant. It’s certainly a long time in waiting (25+ years) but worth the Journey. |

2/29/2024 - huse Likes this wine: 94 pointsAn enormously concentrated Umbria wine (in all its aspects: color, bouquet and taste), a selection of the estates best Sagrantino grapes (100 percent). The wine spent 24 months in French oak barrels, followed by a further 8 months refinement in the bottle before release. It boasts a dense black-inky color (almost impenetrable, no visible signs of aging) with glass-staining legs. The complex nose is brimming with aromas of blackberry, cassis, licorice, dark chocolate and some hints of nutmeg and leather. The wonderfully balanced palate shows an opulent but extremely elegant wine with loads of ripe plum and black forest fruit, great depth, significant but succulent tannins and an excellent acid structure. Magnificent aftertaste. Absolutely great yet and should continue to drink well for the next five to six years. It is recommended to decant the wine one hour before serving. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

2/16/2024 - zachb1125 Likes this wine: 87 pointsPnP for dinner at a restaurant, it started to open up over the ~90 minute meal, but still needed more time. Nose is intense but pretty closed with blackberry, plum, cocoa, some herbs, leather, and maybe cedar, but even two days in it is pretty tight. Palate is more of the same dark fruit, earth, and herb, but it is flat. Medium acidity, intense tannins. Honestly just immature at the moment, it really needs some time to come into balance. |

2/13/2024 - kjwilli Likes this wine: 89 pointsWhat's not to like? Nice bright fruit from the 70% Sangiovese, a plump quality from the 15% Merlot, and a firm structure from the 15% Sagrantino. Well integrated, open, and drinking great. All at a $16 price tag - crazy good QPR. Had with a homemade Ribollita in a snow storm. Could this be the best wine for the $ in Italy? |

1/14/2024 - JonBarnes1 Likes this wine: NRDrank from cellar. Expected to be cooked based on last year / different storage location but no, this was truly outstanding. Cigar box and tertiary notes, acidity holding it upright and tannins nearly gone. Last bottle here but I would pick up another in a heartbeat if storage conditions were assured. |
