muted black fruit and black pepper with a slightly industrial / vegetal finish. Disjointed. Not a fave

Like a blend of syrah and cab franc - a little bit of spice, and a lighter-style, softer fruit. Interesting and very tasty.

Just had this by the glass at the Scotch & Vine in Des Moines, WA. Really good with some decent earthiness. No herbal flavors and some balanced oak. Nice wine with the lamb starter and sauted chicken breast with pan gravy over mash. Not a Keenan or Pride but really good at no where near the same price.

Rich, full cab franc blend...bold but nuanced. I drank it when quite cold, straight from the cellar. Nice finish.
55% cab franc, 22% cab Sauvignon, 12% Malbec 11% carmemere.

Another home run for Bartholomew. My miserable palate cannot tell you the details of a pro reviewer, but nice fruit that is not too sweet, with fine acid that leads to a crisp finish. Not the mineral kick of a NZ Sauvignon Blanc but enough to just make you want another sip; over and over and over....

A wonderful surprise that has good structure, most like a Cab than a typical Tempranillo. Hint of spice which would work great for food pairing, with a well balanced middle and smooth finish with a hint of very fine tannins. For the price ($30, 20% off for club members), it's quite a steal.

Stood up well against spicy foods (or blended, really). Robust. Nice middle and finish. Cab-ish pucker with a bit of air breathed in on finish. Really dig this.

On first opening the nose is showing dark fruit, licorice and earthy spices. The palate is similar with dark fruit, licorice, coffee bean and menthol spices on a tart finish.

One day later the nose has developed some savory notes to go along with the dark fruit and licorice. The palate is dark and plush with black cherry, cocoa powder and cinnamon spices that lead to a nice tart toffee tinged finish.

Minimal fruit, this is a big kids wine for sure. The wine looks Ruby colored. The legs are Slow. It smells like Mineral, Stoniness, and Chocolate. It tastes like Clove, Forest floor, and Mineral. The body is Medium/Full. The wine finishes Long.

I've had Jed Steele's work on this grape, and really enjoyed it. But then I like viogier, marsanne and rossanne too, so when I saw this I grabbed it, especially since I like Bartholomew's rossanne. I touch sweeter than I would prefer, but fine for one glass, especially if before dinner. That said, I'll bet it is great with spicy Thai! Floral notes predominate the nose.

My wife and I are big fans of Hollywood Hill roussanne, so when I saw this I thought I'd give it a try. Wow, very, very good! More of the grape than the HH, although my tasting comparison is 2010 vs 2011 for HH, so maybe that is something to do with it. For the record, I thought the 2010 HH was better than the 2011 vintage, althought the winery claims other wise. If you like a white with good flavor from the grape to go with the necessary acidity, give this a try before its gone. I'll have to make a special trip for more myself. Great tonight with grilled swordfish.

By far the best Washington Roussanne I've ever had. Floral, herbal nose with a smooth, yet complex and balanced mouthfeel, this wine is a multidimensional winner on all levels.Great balance on on the palate with the acid making it a food friendly white with legs to go the distance. Paired very well with tilapia, but goes well on its own even on the second day. Originally tasted at the Rose Revival and other Cool Whites event at Ray's Boatouse in June, but bought a bottle from Wine World to retry. Good move on my part... hoard it if you can find it!

Quite tart at this stage, decant 30-60 minutes. Bouquet of new world fruit and some barrel, but very youthful. Hint of Syrah or Grenache spice on finish. I say wait at least one more year for flavors to develop fully. Reminded me of new release Walla Walla Vintners Sangio for some reason.

If you're in to concentrated new world fruit forward wines with plenty of oak and vanilla you probably aren't going to like this wine. It is a bit of a contrarian among WA wine and has what I would consider a progressive old-world style. With that said, I found it quite delicious and a reasonable deal.

Nose of smoke, tar, wet leaves, and red berries.
The palette is balanced if not fruit acid driven which is strange because I usually associate this characteristic with Oregon Pinot (think grapefruit in the later case). It goes well with some foods and cheese. Red currant, cranberries, mellow tannins, smokiness, and a medium finish.
