Nose of star anise, blackberry, vanilla, and charred oak, with a hint of cranberry. Light-bodied palate, with moderate tannin and strong acidity. Flavours of blackcurrant and cranberry.

Dark colour and coats the glass well. A bit sharp initially but with a bit of time became smooth. The tannin has overtaken the fruit a bit, but a nice medium body wine.

This is one classy Cab right now.Just knocked the screw cap off this little fella and wow, packs the full punch. Long, nicely aged but a fresh dry mouthful of grape-driven yumminess. Lucky people still have more of this to drink. I have just one more bottle!

Not quite what I expected but quite interesting. Follows the rule book early with lemon and acid tang, and very linear, but gets whacky late with pepper and an oaky dustiness. Seems note quite right, at least on paper, but kinda works.

My last bottle. Needs time to open up and stabilise. Probably was a bit critical on the last bottle. Strong tannins making a firm dry, lengthy finish. Wouldn't throw out in the wash water!
Good drinking right now.

"2015" Sydney International Wine Show - stewarding notes; 10/11/2014-10/16/2014 (Blue Mountains, NSW): {screwcap, 13%} A big hit with an MS-qualified judge; probably due to its similarity to oaky Californian cardonnays he probably drinks plenty of; I thought this was bloody good for such a modestly-priced wine at nearly a decade old. Muted butter & oak nose, it has creamy, peachy developed fruit on the medium/full-bodied palate. Soft acid now, but still a medium/long finish, with lots of mid-palate weight. I’d hock into these soon, while they’re still drinking so well.

Great VFM Chardonnay that is a crowd pleaser but complex enough to satisfy a picky drinker as well. Generous palate of ripe peaches, cashews and creamy oak but with some linear mineraliness that stops it from being overdone. Pretty good stuff really.

Wine-Ark boys on tour - Hunter Valley 2014 - Day 2 (Hunter Valley): Peach is the most dominant of the stone fruits I pick up here but also apricots and nectarine. Slight fig, cream, slight toast and butter. Unfortunately this doesn't translate to the palate…there are some quite savoury stone fruit, front of mouth drying grip. It's a little flabby and a little short.

Ahh, good old aged Cab Sauv. Probably just starting to fade a touch but still with good balance between fruit structure and flavour. Faded over a two hour dinner so drink up.

Bags of old fashion structure and class. Dry red fruits, loads of sand paper tannin, almost rough, but the underlying fruit is pure and ripe. Very young and exceptional value at $15.

Impenetrable ruby with garnet rim. Pleasantly developed nose of caramel, coconut, along with blackberry fruit. Sweet ripe fruit, charred meats and a dusty/chalkiness on the palate. Smoothed tannins with the acidity poking out a tad. Quite delicious. Moderate length. Great value. (90 Good wine)

Lots of sediment. Nose is rich, spicy, smoky, and peppery, with notes of black cherry, violet, anise, balsamic vinegar, jalapeno, and freshly ground black pepper.

The palate is light-bodied, but full of sweet, sticky fruit: blackberry, black cherry, fennel, garlic, and a touch of raspberry. There is a hint of balsamic vinegar, and the structure seems to be gently unravelling; it's likely about to fall off a cliff, but right now it's fresh, vibrant, and very drinkable. Considering the price and age of this wine, I didn't have high hopes, but I was pleasantly surprised.

We decantered this wine after an initial taste showed it to be a little heavy on the tannins and the fruit to be a little closed off. Half an hour in the decanter saw the wine open up. This is a deep wine with a rich black currant nose and initial pallette. The tannins kick in after the initial burst of fruit and are silky and balance the fruit very well. Subtle oak and a note of cedar wood complete the picture with the long finish capping off this wonderful wine experience. Drinking well now, but will continue to develop over the next few years.

Developing nose with medium+ intensity aromas of peaches, green apples, fresh pineapple, quince and vanilla. The wine is dry in the mouth with a medium acidity. It has a medium alcohol, medium body and medium+ intensity flavours of green apples, fresh pineapple, peaches, quince and vanilla. The finish is long.

It is a very good wine, showing a good balance between all structural elements, a nice fruit concentration and a lingering finish. However it could be more complex

This is the fourth tasting of this wine. There was no mauve edge on the inky body of this wine. The nose was closed after thirty minutes in the decanter and still partially closed at 60 minutes. Only at 75 minutes did it reach its peak revealing a liqueur of dark berries-blackberry blackcurrant dark cherries and blueberries. Dark olives were also present. This was complimented by cinnamon tomato vine pencil shavings dark chocolate and coffee. There were also hints of seashells and liver pate which I associate with wines from St Estephe though it does not have the elegance to match these wines. The structure was full bodied and firm with the tannins at times being slightly bitter. The wine continue to drink well to one hundred and five minutes but started to lose complexity at one hundred and twenty. When sampled at two hundred and forty minutes it had become sweet and simple. The wine was served at sixteen degrees C from Riedel Bordeaux glasses.

This is a big dynamic wine. It is black and opaque with a hint of mauve on the edge. The nose is fountain of ripe fruit with blackcurrant, blackberry and blueberry most noticeable after 75 minutes. Tomato vine and black olive characters dominate when first decantered but give way to more fruity notes later. In the background is pencil shavings, lemon grass, coffee grounds, milk coffee, wet earth, floral notes and cigar box. The palate has loads of tannin perhaps overwhelms the fruit a little at times. It took an hour in the decanter to fully open and was drinking well at 105 minutes though it started to fade at 120 minutes. Served at 16 degrees C with Riedel bordeaux glasses. Two other recent tastings scored 97 and 95. May be better in a few years with the tannin softening more.

Very dark, almost black-red in colour. Very earthy nose but surprisingly fruity on the palate with enough acid to keep it together. Holding up well for 12 years of age. Cork was impeccable in this instance.

Blackcurrant and tomato vine. Most open around 75 minutes in the decanter. Score 2 points lower than the last bottle probably as it was served too warm.

This is a truly delicious wine. Ruby appearance without purple edge. The nose oscillates from tomato vine to blackcurrant dominant. In the background is lemongrass earth cigar box blackberry. The palate is sumptious full bodied with a soft mouthfeel and good length. The flavours reflect the nose with green olives on the finish. The nose is closed on opening but blossoms at 20 minutes until finished at 75 minutes.
