2022 Boat O'Craigo Pinot Noir Black Spur

Yarra Valley more

Identifiably strawberry on the nose and bramberly on the pallate. This is a delicate (not flimsy wine) but with medium - fruit that lingers for a short time. Structure without perceptible tannins, I assume this will develop further characteristics with a year or 2 more time in the cellar.

Enjoyable and unique without being remarkable.

This is a refreshing take on a style that is often too sweet and otherwise too bitter/acidic. This is very balanced (sugar and acid), there is no bitterness and it is not sweet. The very fine bubbles are a result of extended maturation in bottle using traditional methods. I am concerned that the very fine bubbles dissipate quickly but the wine is very enjoyable nonetheless. Good value with the 30% discount.

Amazing nose, this is a lighter and finer expression of Cab Sav from the Yarra Valley. Bramberly and supported by chewy tannins, this has the structure to reward cellaring. Bordering on a bargain with the 30% discount.

Super impressive nose, this is immediately adult identifiable as a cool climate shiraz. Displaying blue fruits (particularly plums), and the wine is medium+ bodied with long legs and evident tannins even after 5yrs since vintage. I would leave this in the cellar for a couple of years to allow the tannins to integrate more fully into the wine. Both the structure and fruit should be sufficient to see this improve with further age. Reasonable value with the 30% discount.

Med gold
Nose of butter, honey, lemon curd, nutty
Med- acidity, little flabby, med body
Flavours of lemon, some tropical fruit, hint of berry, lemon curd, some minerality
Ok balance, short length, ok intensity, minimal complexity

As per the label tropical fruits, gooseberry, citrus. Fresh crisp acidity, moderate length but just ample for the score.

A light red colour in the glass, the nose has a sinewy savoury form with earthy stem and dark dusty cherry.

The wine has an enjoyable flavour profile that begins subtly with cherry and earth before building in power across the palate, picking up spice, coffee and a slight leather character on the way.

The finish has good length and the wine will be best enjoyed over the next 2 - 3 years

A dark and rich example of cool climate shiraz. Dark and blue fruits with a hint of pepper. This hasn't really improved since release (under diam). A nice, perfectly enjoyable wine. (89 Good wine)

A cherry dominant nose with some liqueur notes and a vanillin element from the gentle oak. This is definitely a savoury wine, but with some delicate florals in the mix as well. The palette is has some bold texture with ripe tannins and is overall quite soft and rounded.

I'm told 2010 will be a great year for Yarra Valley Pinot Noir. This is a very light Pinot and is soft on the palate. Long finish of blackberry. Very drinkable, but no notes that set it apart.

This threw up a lot of sediment and had a fresh, crisp older world nose. Leaf nose; green tobacco, eucalyptus, some mint. Palate is less enjoyable; a little extracted, cloying but also dry tannins. Overall a little unbalanced.

Pale yellow in colour with a hint of green. Certainly a different style of wine than those from NZ - hints of citrus, lemongrass and herbs on the nose. A lean palate, with plenty of acid, with a flavour range the same as the nose (grassy herb notes, lemongrass). Well balanced, but not particularly complex. Length is OK though.
