Great value. Decanted for 1 hour, but probably didn't need it. Smooth sweet berry fruit with a nice finish, with a little spice. Not very complex, but a great everyday wine that pairs well with red meats or spicy dishes.

Smooth plummy and rich. Not woody. Not harsh. Has not got a particularly long length on it. Never been disappointed by a Wine Society Exhibition wine and this is no exception. We had it with pulled pork and it went very well indeed. Ready to drink now

Popped and poured. Dark garnet, purple rim, fine suspended sediment. Could be a north Rhone wine on the nose - dark fruit aromatics with a spicy note. Round, supple attack. Building slowly to a fine dark fruit mid-palate. Fine drying tannins and some spicy oak in the background. Moderate final.

Good complexity and balance. Drinking nicely now and probably unlikely to gain much with additional cellaring. Still - no hurry to finish these - I'd expect they can easily make it another 2-3 years. Best with food - paired very well with fresh pesto.

South or Sweet (Q2 wine party) (The Apartment): (Wine #11 - South America) Would love to see this wine in a few years. We have the Adrianna vineyard (same year and producer) and I think we're going to end up letting that one sleep for a bit more time. Very elegant wine, mostly red fruit but a touch of black, the dominant trait right now is tannin, but that will fade.

Age hasn't been that kind to this wine. By no means did it seem flawed, but it was just lacking intensity in all aspects. Soft, lacking acid, very little tannin and really without much pop from the fruit. It was perfectly drinkable, but it was completely anonymous as well. If you have any in your cellar, drink them now as they are clearly on the decline.

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry and black pepper. It tastes like blackberry and red currant. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

My fifth bottle of this vintage and seems just to be entering its drinking window. Excellent fruit and luxurious oak. Perfect balance and no disturbing sweetness. Give it 3-4 days for the fruit and oak to settle.

This wine is drinking really nicely right now. A plush, rice mouthfeel, with prune, blackberries, cassis, dried flowers, soft, finely-grained tannins, nice acidity and a long, lingering finish with a touch of tar and spices.

Nose of black cherry and a little cola/spice.
Palate has a ton of black cherry & some cola, fading on the medium finish. Some minerality on the finish only on day 1. Good acidity, a little chalkiness. Textbook cab here. Not super complex or unique, yet super solid. 88-89 pts.

I would recommend decanting an hour. Fairly dry, black fruited malbec. A little flat on the finish. An austere, dry argentine malbec style. I think there are better values, even Catena's Bodegas Caro I think is a more nuanced malbec blend for the price.

Big nose of cherry and plum. Still so young. Supported by really bright acidity. Tannin is quite resolved though.

Consistent with prior bottles. Medium body. Good acidity. More balanced, with more energy and less oak than a typical Napa chardonnay.

Decanted prior to serving, wine threw very little sediment. Clear, deep garnet with a light purple rim. Medium intensity, developed nose of blueberries and black cherries, orange peel, tobacco, leather, a touch vegetal (bell pepper, straw), and wet earth. Palate is dry, medium across the board (acid, tannin, body, alcohol, intensity, and length). Palate disappoints. Fruit is sadly muted. Plenty of weight, acid, etc., just not much flavor.

Drink up folks, this wine is fading. I definitely remember it having much more life when I last opened a bottle in 2012 for a blind-tasting when it was the star of the night.

At Jess and Matt's 'Wedding.': now this wine is wound up. TIGHT. big and dense, but not too expressive off of the nose. dark black and some teased up baking spice. but again, really wound tight and not too giving at the moment. palate is much more giving. full, dark and brooding, with some fresh blackberry fruit appeal. loaded wiith fresh wild fruit spice, some violet floral nuance to the palate. medium/+ tannin.
Day 2. Full and black fruit, open. Violet floral. Needs a day of air

Decanted for 2 hours, could be 4-5 hours, still on the fruity side, alot of cassis and dark berries, cherries, powerful but not overdone, very good concentration but without being sirupy or porty. well balnaced fruit, acidity and alcohol, ripe tannins, at least 10 more years, I think drink too early but with alot of fun, long finish after some cigar, espreso, leather and spicy notes 94-96

So big and ripe, it will overpower almost anything you put on the grill. The finish goes on and on and on...but not in a manner that says 'pour me another.' It's a meal replacement and wine all wrapped up in one package. The bottle weighs a ton, and so does the wine.
